Waterfalls in minecraft look very epic the first time you see them. But over time they become boring since they always look the same.
Well, not anymore. With the erosion mod flowing water can now cause erosion, just like in real life. Blocks touching flowing water will now slowly erode into other blocks. This can completely change the flow of the everyday minecraft river. Furthermore, there are lots of other possibilities: changing useless blocks into blocks more usefull. Make your minecraft more realistic today!!!
Description:
The erosion mod allows flowing water to erode surrounding blocks. There are only four kind of blocks which can erode.
These blocks are: Stone, Cobblestone, Gravel and Sand.
The blocks will erode in the following manner: -> -> -> ->
An arrow means stone will change into cobblestone when eroded and so forth.
The empty block means sand will dissapear when eroded.
!Warning!
If your home is made out of stone, cobblestone, gravel or sand it can be destroyed by the erosion proces.
Make sure your home doesn't touch any flowing water or is made out of different materials when using this mod

Thanks to yuukikaihou for making this video!
Compatibility:
This mod uses Risugami's modloader which can be found here.
Since this mod uses modloader it should be compatible with all other modloader mods.
Since this mod doesn't add any extra blocks or items, it is completely compatible with all your normal saves. You can even play the saves made with this mod on your unmodded minecraft.
If there is any mod you would like to be compatible with this mod please post below.
Download and installation:
First download and install Risugami's modloader here.
Then download the erosion mod here.
Install the mod by putting the mod_erosion.zip (found inside the erosion_mod_x.x.zip) into the mods folder in your minecraft directory.
Start up minecraft and have fun!
Server version
First download the files needed for the server here. (This is version 2.4, since version 2.5 creates client side lag!)
Put all the files in the zip into a CLEAN minecraft server jar.
Start the server and have fun.
The mod will work for every player on the server. It will also work for those players who do not have the mod installed!
For the server all settings can be found and set in the server.properties.
This mod might work with other server mods as long as they do not use dn.class!
Version history:
v2.5 Added lava reversing the process. (Turning stone into lava as well!)
v2.4 Internal changes (erosion time increased once again) and updated for 1.8.1
v2.3 Added grass dissapearing underneath water and different erosion times for every material.
v2.2 Fixed a bug in version 2.1 and the water will now take on a more river like shape (less lakes).
v2.1 Erosion is now mainly happening in the direction the water is flowing in. Also made erosion downwards less common.
v2.0 Updated to 1.7.3 and made an option to reduce lag.
v1.3b Developed a server version of the mod. No changes to the client so the version number stays the same.
v1.3 some changes to make the system work better. A block touching two flowing water will now erode twice as fast.
The erosion time has increased significantly. A single water block now takes at least 50 seconds to erode a block.
You might want to check your erosion time since 50 in 1.2 is a lot quicker than 50 in 1.3. The default has changed from 50 to 5 (which is already slower!)
v1.2 a minor change to stop the code from being triggered in multiplayer. (will add multiplayer support later, but has to be server side)
v1.1 added a config file in the config directory. Edit the value erosion_time to make erosion slower or quicker.
v1.0 expanded the area for erosion a lot. It now takes longer for a block to erode
v0.1 initial release
Future updates:
I will add these features in the order they are listed here.
-Check out the poll!
-Other stuff you want to see in this mod (Just post below.)
Ideas for which this mod can be used:
1)You can change enormous amounts of cobblestone into something useful like flint for arrows or sand for glass/tnt.
2)A gravel farm: Take some lava and some water and make them flow towards a similar point. At that point cobblestone will be formed. The water will eventually change the cobblestone into gravel. If you make a hole underneath the cobblestone, the gravel will fall down through the hole. After that the water and lava will meet again and another block of cobblestone is formed. The proces will be repeated.
3)Digging a mine shaft. By containing a source block of water in a small area above stone (with dirt for example), you can let it dig a shaft downwards. Watch out for dirt though, since it can redirect the water!
-If you find out some cool stuff you can do with this mod, please post them below and I will put them here.
Last note:
In the case you are having some trouble with this mod, please tell me about it with the most accurate information you have.
Note that I can not guarantee that this mod will work for you in the way it is supposed to, but I do want to help anyone who is experiencing problems.
After a few minutes? Man.. Should take hours not minutes.
Well, in fact it took about 8 minutes to reach that stage, which is quite a long time, considering that a minecraft day is only 10 minutes.
But if you want I could make the time configurable in a future update
I just updated the mod to version 1.1. It now creates a config file in the config folder in the minecraft directory. In this file you can set the time it takes to erode a block. The higher you set the value, the longer it takes for a block to erode. The minimum value is 10, the maximum 500 and the default is 50.
Another thing I want to say is that it would be really epic if someone could do a timelapse video of some kind for this mod. I think this mod is best to be shown in such a video and since i can't make one myself, I would give a lot of to the person that can do this for me.
I will also put the video link in the main post.
I set the config file to 500 and it is still too fast, can you make the file not have a limit to it? I want to put a higher number but not sure what will be nice for me. Not sure why you have a cap on it anyway.

500 should be really slow so maybe you have to download it again. In one of the updates i missed some of the code out so that the value you could set actually didn't change anything. It must be fixed now.
One other thing is that even with the setting on 500 there could be erosion happening quickly. It has something to do with the code to prevent all blocks from eroding at the exact same time. I already have an idea to prevent that from happening when you set the time higher and will implement that as soon as I can.

Great, I love the mod its awesome! I use it with the finite water mod and its so real lol.
Good mod!
After installing your mod I quickly had to race around my home replacing the cobblestone roof that was eroding from the rainfall. I was sloshing around with my pickaxe and wood planks making the repairs. More repairs to come! Haha! :smile.gif:
This is an awesome mod.
Love the addition of the configuration file, can't wait to go try this out.

me too! I was like, hmm why is the water moat around my house emptier than full...omg...part of my floor is gone!
Does that mean when a drop of water lands on the ground it actually counts as moving water instead of water standing still?
