Sorry for bugging you guys with a question that has probably been asked many times before, but will this mod change the ids in the config files or do you have to keep this mod installed to use the block ids that it assigns to blocks and items?
You could use ID Resolver on 1.5.1 to assign things so they don't conflict, and then use the ID Map it creates as a reference point and go into each mod's config file and edit the IDs yourself to what ID Resolver reassigned them to. Then you could update to 1.5.2, and with any luck there won't be too much trouble in the process.
It's a bit of work and definitely time-consuming, but it's pretty easy.
Further the "IDResolverknownIDs.properties" file is formatted like this:
<Original ID>|class.path=<New ID>
Example:
BlockID.629|ic2.core.IC2=629
Is IndustriaCraft2's "I:blockScaffold=629" (i.e. the scaffolding), set to its own number. The part after the "|" is what mod it comes from, and, if you're lucky, the block/item. Really, though, all you need to do is know which mod it comes from (which SHOULD be one of the words), go to that property's file, 'find' (ctrl+f) the number on the left, and change it to the number on the right.
Example: (Same mod)
(what to 'search' for) | the mod name (and item/block name) = The resolved ID
BlockID.629 | ic2.core.IC2 = 629
Yeah, it will take time, but, assuming you keep a copy of your modified config/property files, you'll only have to do this once-and then again if new items/blocks are added that conflict with others (for future updates).
In case anyone is annoyed and wondering why ID Resolver doesn't just edit the property files itself... that's because not all property files are written the same... and to change all of them a method to parse through (i.e. read) each different style would have to be written... Given the different styles, this would take about as much time and work as... well, as ID Resolver 2 is...
(Now, if we could get mod developers to adopt a standard-i.e. a specific format to put their config files in-this would be much simpler... but, if we were going to do that we may as well just create a system of registering IDs with Mojang. It would be 'easier' and permanently eliminate any ID related issues... but this is extremely unlikely to happen...)
EDIT: For future reference, feel free to link to this post when similar questions are asked. (To do so, just right click on the number in the upper right hand corner-#3632, in this case-select "copy link address" and past it into the post you are writing. You may, certainly, also reword or quote this post, but that's more difficult and takes up more space...)
All this complaining, if people only spent the time they spent complaining about changing the IDs manually, they'd already be playing 1.5.2 a long time now. But no, y'all need to have everything handed over a silver platter.
Well, enjoy...nothing.
Just a little side note.
Its not only the 'Block ID's', its also 'Item ID's'
Item Ids are the ones with graphics that show up in NEI and in th world.
You know them as "Textures".
All those have IDs and some have lots of them. IC2 and Forestry has a huge long list of both.
People dont want to spend enormous amounts of time doing it.
If the OP does not want to continue this mod, someone should create another one just like it.
or people should start posting in the IDEA's thread for Minecraft to Mojang, so Mojang can place it within the game itself.
Even if he were. What's it to you? He's not obligated to do squat for y'all. Unless he's under some sort of contract, he can do whatever he wants. If he wants this mod to die without giving up the source, then that's what will happen. And if he doesn't and doesn't feel like updating every single stupid update Mojang is dishing out, then he doesn't. Tough luck, folks. That's life for you.

You know, you really ought to be more polite to others. Won't get anywhere in life being a jerk to people for no good reason. :\
It seems like ID Resolver has stopped working for me. I'm not getting any errors directly related to IDR but it isn't resolving any ID conflicts (the whole reason I downloaded and installed it and GUI API). I have tried unistalling it and reinstalling it (and GUI API). I am using the latest version of Forge on MC 1.5.2.

Or you could just read 'ID RESOLVER 1.5.1'...maybe this means it is for mc 1.5.1.......hmmmmm.....

But thats just my suggestion. - happy trails
Boy, am I glad I didn't reply to that post when I first saw it...
Also, it isn't just 'Item IDs', if you can place something in the world it isn't just an 'item' it is also a block. Only blocks can be placed, but most blocks also have an item component (i.e. a dirt block turns into a 'dirt block' item). You are still correct that there are vastly more Items than Blocks, though.
Finally, just because ShaRose is busy doesn't mean he isn't working on something. Theoretically an ID Resolver 2 is being worked on. Realistically, though, without ShaRose speaking with the rest of us we can only assume... and what we assume will be vastly different between people.
That's probably because you're incapable of reading and comprehending. If you'd only spent a few minutes reading a few posts here, you'd know why it doesn't work.
Or you could just read 'ID RESOLVER 1.5.1'...maybe this means it is for mc 1.5.1.......hmmmmm.....
Guys, I know just a few posts earlier some crazed foaming-at-the-mouth troll came in and started trashing the place... this doesn't mean you should yell at the next person who walks in... (Also, I believe that person is from another thread and came here after reading a suggestion of mine-I say purely because I recognize the name and formatting... which, with my memory, could simply mean I read that post last night and didn't catch it...) EDIT: (Verification: it was earlier in this thread, and The__Doctor__ asked two questions and got a single reply for both... which can be confusing to people. Question: < http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/366377-151id-resolver-finally-updated/page__st__3600#entry22824050 >, Reply: < http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/366377-151id-resolver-finally-updated/page__st__3600#entry22824116 >)
I want to use this with Feed The Beast. I'm using Feed The Beast Lite, but because it doesn't have ExtraBiomesXL, I'm using the Highlands mod instead. Will using the 1.4.6 version of this work, as it's 1.4.7?
I did not see a 1.4.7 version of ID Resolver, although I may be mistaken.
ID Resolver is a life-saver when installing several mods that are normally incompatible such as Divine RPG, Mo Creatures, and Technic Lite. The only downside is that ID Resolver does not resolve biome ID conflicts, such as ExtrabiomesXL and the Death Scythe mod, but that can be fixed by changing XL's config file.
Hello since ID Resolver isn't updated for 1.5.2 can someone give me directions on how to change the id manually?
It seems that there is a conflict with ChickenChunks and IC2's latest beta in that they both use that id for a item.
Any help would be appreciated thank you.
if you can mod then you can change the id's manually, in the .minecraft there should be a folder called config, inside you should be able to change the id of either the chicken chunks block/item/etc or the ic2 blocks since they each have their own config file with the name, have fun changing id's!
well it looks as if sha Rose is gone MIA so have fun changing the ID conflicts for now.

Thanks for the help. I was able to go through all of my configs to choose a id for it and now it works. When I read the ChickenChunks config file I found out the problem. ChickenChunks actually does kind of what id resolver does in a way. It actually scans for a free id to place the item at. Problem was I installed IC2 after ChickenChunks and IC2 had Rubberwood at 243 and ChickenChunks had chosen that as the Chunk Loader Block. I just had to go back and break the old Chunk Loader that had become Rubberwood and put down new Chunk Loaders.
sorry for the question. All the nerves here I will have over 104 mods and I can not all the individual mod configs look through for a free id is too much when is the last update so far?

There are other ways of doing this than trying to find the 'free IDs'. I've posted some of them before (see http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/366377-151id-resolver-finally-updated/page__st__3580#entry22784822 ). Yes, you will still have to edit the config files, but it is much easier than loading the game multiple times to find out what IDs you can use.
I'm only going to reference my past posts from now on, unless I get more or better information, it seems pointless to repeat the same information over and over again...

I have no idea why this works client side, but not on my server.
I just installed this for 1.5.2 and I haven't seen any sort of change in my id's. I know I have many conflicts because I am looking at them in the config files. Minecraft runs fine with them other than messed up crafting recipes. Is there a way to make Id resolver let me manually change id's in Minecraft?

I don't think anyone claimed it would be coming soon.
If you don't want to roll back to 1.5.1, then you'll have to start manually fixing your ID conflicts as they occur.
But thats just my suggestion. - happy trails
Windows 7 x64-bit SP-1 - MC v1.7.10 - Forge 10.13.4.1517 - CodeChickenCore v1.0.7.47 - NEI v1.0.5.118 - (MultiMC v5.0.4.8)
You know, you really ought to be more polite to others. Won't get anywhere in life being a jerk to people for no good reason. :\
I did not see a 1.4.7 version of ID Resolver, although I may be mistaken.
Thnaks again for the help.
