java.lang.RuntimeException: Oil Still id must be Oil Moving id + 1 so if the oil still id is 189 the oil moving id needs to be 190 (if this dnst woek i dont know) unless you post a new error
The above is 'correct', but you'll need to find out what the resolved ID of oil is, and then modify the ID of moving oil to be that number +1.
yeh i tried doing that but no difference, buildcraft works fine without changing the config file with other mods. only when i installed the id resolver that when it(id resolver) loaded up the buildcraft ids that it crashed
No, don't change it in the config file, you have to change the ID Resolver number.
I don't recall whether the crash will happen before or after Minecraft fully loads (to the main menu), but if it doesn't then you'll need to remove the ID Resolver config file to reset the values. Then you will have to manually change the values for BuildCraft (rather than selecting, auto pick ID),
Hi, I seem to be having an issue with this mod.
I have installed the GuiAPI-0.15.6-1.5.2.jar
and then I installed IDResolver-1.5.1.0.jar, however when I launch id resolver saves configs but does not show any ID resolver GUI, I have had this mod working on Minecraft 1.4.7 but it isn't working for me now on 1.5.2
Ant help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Cameron.
It's not working because you're trying to use it for 1.5.2 when it obviously hasn't been updated to 1.5.2 yet.
GuiAPI has been updated to 1.5.2, but ID Resolver uses 1.5.1, becuase it itself hasn't updated to 1.5.2 yet. When ID resolver updates to 1.5.2, it'll use the 1.5.2 version of GuiAPI.
Any ideas on when the mod will be updated because it seems there are a few people in need of it...?
Nobody needs ID Resolver. It's very useful, I'll admit, but it isn't absolutely necessary.
As for an update, there's no word. For the time being, you'll either have to go back to 1.5.1 and wait for it to update, or stay on 1.5.2 and fix your ID conflicts manually.
I find it amusing when I see people saying ID Resolver isn't needed. If it weren't needed then why is it so useful and why was it created in the first place- because people need it.
Now, if its just two or three mods that need a few ids changed, then yeah, no sweat, the resolver becomes a luxury, but when you have over thirty or fifty mods and you have numerous id conflicts and overwrites, yes, the resolver becomes a necessity to run the game so people can find out if the mods will work together when the ids are taken care of.
Sure, lets open all those configuration files and work on fixing those id clashes, until work, or school, or something else comes up, leaving the task partially done, you return to finish, and have no clue how far you've gotten. Well, so much for that, lets restart, or just trash the whole idea. But wait, here's a resolver that will do it for you, even if you didn't have umpteen other things to do, the resolver is an expedient and just plain too good to not be a necessity.
Personally I can wait, to an extent, it seems ID Resolver is usually VERY late in the update department, sometimes not being updated for several minecraft updates. Which is a shame and defeats the purpose of having the resolver in the first place.

Being useful doesn't make it needed. It makes it useful and worth using, and nobody is saying anything to the contrary. My point was that it's entirely possible to do the work yourself without relying on ID Resolver to do it for most mods out there, but people are either too lazy or uninformed to do it, so they rely on ID Resolver to do it for them.

I use about fifty mods currently, and I use 1.5.2, so I can't use ID Resolver. I change all the conflicting IDs manually. So no, it's still not a necessity in order to run the game. It's still a luxury regardless of how many mods you use. I won't deny that I used ID Resolver when I was still on 1.5.1, but I don't - and will never - rely on it. More than likely, I'll use it again when it's updated for 1.5.2, but in the meantime, I just fix the problems myself.

For one, you could make a note so you don't lose your place. For another, the entire context of this is in reference to people demanding that ID Resolver be updated to 1.5.2, and acting as though it's completely impossible to play the game without it.
It's not impossible. It's not even remotely impossible. It's not even difficult, though it is admittedly more time-consuming than pressing a button and letting something else do all the work for you.
Nobody is arguing the benefits or usefulness of ID Resolver, but in the strictest definition of the term, it is not an absolute necessity (i.e., you can still play with mods and not use ID Resolver at all). At this point in time people have a choice. They can either stay on 1.5.1 and use ID Resolver to take care of their conflicts, or they can go ahead and update to 1.5.2 and take care of the conflicts themselves.
We're all waiting for the update. Some people just seem to forget that ShaRose isn't obligated to update to 1.5.2, or ever if he so chooses, while ignoring the fact that they're actually quite capable of fixing the ID conflicts themselves.

This just feels like instant-gratification hate mongering.
I run 80 mods on 1.5.2. I don't need ID resolver at all. Do I want it? Of course. That 15 minutes of fixing the config files turns to two minutes. On top of that, most mods these days have very few conflicts if any. Forestry is usually the biggest hassle, but again, five minutes and I'm on to the other conflicts.
Make a note on your computer, prioritize your time. It is just a little bit of busy work and IMO, if you can't do it or learn how to do it, you will just have to wait and lose out on mods for the time being. ShaRose is in no obligation to update as XanderGryphon says. Does it suck? Yup! Is it rude that they disappear and can't answer questions or throw a bone and say, "HEY, I'm HERE, busy as hell so it'll be a while, but hang in there!" or "You guys suck and I'm done with this mod and all you haters." Whatever, I don't care, just the lack of communication is always and forever will be the most disrespectful, IMHO.

Also true, and I've been working on manually fixing id clashes off and on for the past little while now.
For one, you could make a note so you don't lose your place. For another, the entire context of this is in reference to people demanding that ID Resolver be updated to 1.5.2, and acting as though it's completely impossible to play the game without it.
True, you could but that doesn't necessarily mean you would if time was short or you had to up and leave the computer without much warning, Murphy's law, if something can go wrong, it will go wrong.
It's not impossible. It's not even remotely impossible. It's not even difficult, though it is admittedly more time-consuming than pressing a button and letting something else do all the work for you.

Also true, I was merely pointing out that I found it amusing, if not exactly why I found it amusing and providing a few counter points for sake of bringing them to light. It doesn't necessarily make ID Resolver needed but what I said does show that the impact of this tool is quite significant for those whom do not know how to figure things out as well as those whom do, but would rather use a tool to help things along.
We're all waiting for the update. Some people just seem to forget that ShaRose isn't obligated to update to 1.5.2, or ever if he so chooses, while ignoring the fact that they're actually quite capable of fixing the ID conflicts themselves.
Of course, its the reason I'm willing to wait, nowhere does it say that ShaRose is required to update on the fly, nor would I expect him to. I just don't expect there to be an update for 1.5.1 since observing previous updates behaviors.
This just feels like instant-gratification hate mongering.
This just feels like instant-gratification knee-jerk reactionary.

If forestry is all you have to deal with then you must have a specific theme or go for the more well known mods out there. I tend to get whatever looks interesting, big or small and generally have to deal with more ID conflicts than I'd care to list.

An interesting bit that I do agree with, yes one could make a note or prioritize time, but as I said earlier in this post in different words, sometimes you just don't have the chance, or time, to make a note before you have to be up and about, or have to leave the house entirely. Sometimes I wonder if that sort of thing is what happens to so many modders whom sit down to work on updating, then get called away for some other task.
Being useful doesn't make it needed. It makes it useful and worth using, and nobody is saying anything to the contrary. Take care
I will edit this post later, or revise it in some later post.
For people who don't have the time or patience-or reading/writing skills, or understanding of English, or understanding of basic comprehension, or <insert stupid insults here>, etc-it can be needed. Other than the fact that the updating of Minecraft in such an idiotic manner pis-er-irritates the hell out of me (no, minor updates that break everything else are NOT needed. If you are going to update do it in a manner that 'adds onto' the content already installed. FFS, there are already tools readily accessable to completely decompile and unobfuscate the game, why even bother to keep it up?)... what was I saying? Oh, right, other than the stupid 'minor' updating that is done, I keep myself at 1.4.7 because it is too difficult to go through each config file and remap each ID to what is in some arbitrary list somewhere (i.e. the ID Resolver config file). If it were a simple text base search, maybe that would be acceptable, but the time and effort it takes is mind numbing to me and basically makes me want to get rid of Minecraft altogether rather than bother trying to make it work.
Just because you CAN do it, and just because the 'answer' (pick a method) is simple for you, does not mean that the 'answer' is simple for everyone... or even possible, for that matter. Keep in mind, children play this game and more than enough of them don't have parent's who can spend 15-20 minutes struggling with a notepad program and trying to figure out how to fix this 'stupid game' (from the parent's perspective). Depending on the child's age, the parent may only be allowing them to play it to get the child to shut up long enough for the adult to have a break... adding some amount of extra effort that should be completely unnecessary on top of that is, well, against the point. (This is, of course, just an example)
Or, what about the adult who gets home after 8-10 hours of work and just wants to sit down and relax with a game of Minecraft (this game is relaxing?)... they certainly don't have the time to go through and struggle figuring out how to change IDs in some arbitrary file in some hidden folder on their computer. For them, time is precious. For them any extra effort to play this game is not only unnecessary, it makes the game meaningless...
This is an argument that I had with the idiots over in EE3 saying that EE2 was overpowered because of 'free energy'... Sure, an Energy Collector and Energy Condenser allows you to get EMC over time, and, sure, after you've farmed the materials for one, and basically can wait to get the rest, it seems like it is effortless... but their opinions are meaningless because THEY can spend hours and hours a day digging in the dirt... while others cannot. For those with a family, a job, or any other time constraint, (or those of us who have realized and recognized that we won't live forever) time is extremely valuable, to ignore this value is arrogant and stupid.
Rant/examples
It's like the insurance/job argument that those who are 'privileged' try to make. Job: "What? Don't like your working conditions? Get a different job. No other jobs where you live? Move." Yeah, but, well, you already touched on problem 1 (no other jobs in the area), but problem 2, moving takes money and time, and if you ain't got money you can't move to get a (different) job. Besides, unless you looked ahead of time there is no guarantee that where you move will have work open, certainly not work open 'for you'...
Insurance: Insurance is critically necessary for anyone. Without it if anything sever happens to you, or if you get ill, or if you are diagnosed with something, you need to pay for the medical bill or medications. Without insurance to pay part of this bill you could suddenly find yourself tens of thousands of dollars in debt, or without an arm... Missing an arm? Missing your dominant hand? Welp, guess you can't work any more... Oh, I'm sorry, did you need that money to feed yourself and your family? Too bad...
Of course, unforunately health insurance is expensive (who wants to PAY people BACK when they've been paying you consistently for something they don't 'appear' to consistently need?) and the companies, like most, are trying to make it harder and harder to get money for what people need, and/or are trying to make it more and more expensive to have. Insurance, for many, is a luxury... but it is a luxury that is, in fact, a necessity, it's just not seen that way.
Or how about education. Sure, all people really need is the three "R's", Reading, Writing and Arithmetic (apparently who ever came up with 'three "R's" needed more or better education themselves...) so that you can read legal signs, sign your name, and pay your taxes... but in modern society nearly every job requires so much more. Hell, even farming is requiring a Graduate Degree if not higher.... Perhaps in the age of manual factories unskilled labor was readily available (as a job) but that isn't the case in the computer age (or what ever age we are in now...). Besides, what with the manipulation of information that is rampant in politics, economics, even every day -scams-, being more educated is the only way to really survive and not be screwed over by-what seems like-everyone around you.
Just a little while ago I was called by some number in DC about a potential grant from the government for ~$8,000. I wasn't sure about it and, ironically, they offered to call me back. Once I was off the phone I looked up the context and found a 'word for word' transcript of the conversation I just had on a website warning about scams. More recently I've been getting spam phone calls from some group trying not to necessarily scam me, but trying to get me to claim that I want to go to school (for what ever subject), am not currently in school, and after two times of the guy hanging up on whom ever I was talking to currently and reiterating -what was basically a script- that I was supposed to say, I hunt up on him... this was, of course, after he had claimed that he was going to get fired if I didn't help him... I certainly hope so, if enough of their employees get fired they'll go out of business...)
I'm sure there are many more examples out there about what appears unnecessary to some, but is quite necessary to others in different situations. (Clothing, anyone?) But I'm already spammy here, so I'll shaddup... if anyone even bothered to open the 'spoiler' tag...
I just want to make it clear that I am in no way against the use of ID Resolver or those who use it. I have said nothing to imply that, but I feel that's the impression Master_Aricitic has gotten somehow from my opinion that a luxury tool isn't a necessity.
Apologies for the argument this has turned into, as that was never my intention.
Hello, i just made an account just for this, i have many mods in my game too, and i dont know but i think the creators changed the ids (i had the mods in 1.4.7 and i updated directly to 1.5.2), in 1.4.7 i had those mods working together almost perfectly (with just misplaced icons in the items and wrong mobs spawning, for example with falling meteors mod) and in the 1.5.2 update the SAME MODS have id conflicts and i looked in the id numbers of one of the mods' config file and it had different numbers than the previous version, and i didnt modified the id numbers there, so they must have changed the id numbers in the update.
My question is can i just simply copy the old config file or the ids at least to the new file? Thee worst part is that i have a world i saved in 1.4.7 so if i dont do this i will lose the world, or at least the items me and my sis gathered, or would it damage the mod install?
I dont know but i think id need this mod (or copy the ids myself) on every update so i can keep my save with the same ids.
Can i do this? Please dont leave me with the doubt i want to update and install everything as soon as possible.
This thread is getting so funny I don't get it, what the hell is artic babbling about jobs, insurance, phone scams, what? Just shut-up. Your post is such nonsense I won't even post a quote. And yes we all have lives and can still mod minecraft with or without ID resolver. You people that think you can just throw in 50, 60, 70+ mods in all at once and think its all going to be cherry are just silly. And if you can't find any time, to take your time, to do it in a reasonable way THEN DON'T DO IT. Its not that hard to just put a few mods in at a time and run the game and solve conflicts as they occur with just a few mods. Most mods nowadays work well together. It is only a one time fix. Its not like you have to fix conflicts every time you log into the game, once its done its DONE.
The above is 'correct', but you'll need to find out what the resolved ID of oil is, and then modify the ID of moving oil to be that number +1.
No, don't change it in the config file, you have to change the ID Resolver number.
I don't recall whether the crash will happen before or after Minecraft fully loads (to the main menu), but if it doesn't then you'll need to remove the ID Resolver config file to reset the values. Then you will have to manually change the values for BuildCraft (rather than selecting, auto pick ID),
It's not working because you're trying to use it for 1.5.2 when it obviously hasn't been updated to 1.5.2 yet.
It's not. You are.
GuiAPI has been updated to 1.5.2, but ID Resolver uses 1.5.1, becuase it itself hasn't updated to 1.5.2 yet. When ID resolver updates to 1.5.2, it'll use the 1.5.2 version of GuiAPI.
If not supported, waiting for the update :)!
change the config

I asked a specific question don't give me an answer that doesn't relate to the question. Changing the Config isn't a tool or mod.
That is the tool
Take care
True.
Also true, and I've been working on manually fixing id clashes off and on for the past little while now.
True, you could but that doesn't necessarily mean you would if time was short or you had to up and leave the computer without much warning, Murphy's law, if something can go wrong, it will go wrong.
Of course, its the reason I'm willing to wait, nowhere does it say that ShaRose is required to update on the fly, nor would I expect him to. I just don't expect there to be an update for 1.5.1 since observing previous updates behaviors.
You too

Thanks
