deathtamer666, as founder and first leader of the P.A.E.C.T. , what is your current stance on Evil Minecraft and its foul fowl?
Yeah this is rather off topic, contact me through pm to continue this debate-in-formation. Although i would like to point out that the whole thing originated from a joke thread about the chickens being evil, i revived it as it got locked because it was an alpha thread. The thread eventually got 30+ pages of replies to it so i decided to make a joke clan called P.A.E.C.T. And since that day the clan is on its third generation of leader, one of the previous leaders was bad (myself) and one was even worse (Xephos). I like actaul chickens, they are a useful animal. Minecraftian chickens and other livestock seem hellbent on pushing you into dangerous places. I joked about how it was the chickens controlling those other animals and it stuck to some degree. It is interesting how something relatively powerful can form from one of the most idiotic things imaginable.

i have a question, i asked before but no one replied im guesssing because it is the last post on page 20 something... but will Npc's have guns? i know your against guns but guns are a logical step up from bows. i can understand that you don't want the player to have guns and i can understand that, but what about a gun that only npc's can use? similar to the skeleton's bow in vanilla. or maybe only those "marines" in the poll have guns? marines always have guns -.- well not always but they do use them! im not saying: Oh derp give them all miniguns but a pistol would work and be very useful to them against things like the dread scourge, and errant players :biggrin.gif:

In the dread swarm preview video it was shown that to player have a form of energy pistol, which while you is not a gun in the sense of it propels metal by creating a small contained explosion, is a form of firearm. The fact that you can have access to this weapon would suggest it is either received from the cities or is crafted. If it is crafted then chances are the cities who have much more experienced workers that produce these tools of self defense.

There will be ranged weaponry. It just won't be firearms or guns of any usual type :tongue.gif: I've got a very long list of some very out-of-the-ordinary weapons lined up, though it could always use lengthening :happy.gif:(in other words: still open to suggestions, just try to keep them simple and... Not guns XD)
As for the idea that a gun is the next logical step up from bows, I'd beg to differ. It is the next step in the history of human weaponry, yes, but who said these people didn't come up with something different?

Most of the weapons will be purchased through various vendors, as allowing the player to craft them would both take up more items (ingredients) and would essentially give you access to different tiers of weaponry faster or slower than was originally intended, based on sheer luck :tongue.gif: I -could- make something similar to the base game's system for diamonds, such that you'd have to mine out the materials from deep underground, but this would break too far from the idea of emgicraft being about scavenging and rediscovery of the lost cultures of centuries past.
Oh, and the National Socialist Worker's party of Germany was the Nazi party :tongue.gif: jeez... What are they teaching you kids in those schools these days?
Basically I'm saying your way of thinking is "oh they're not really a problem, why bother?" -looks away, looks back -"hmm... They've multiplied fifty fold... Meh, no biggie." -looks away again, looks back again,"ok, lots more now... now there might be a problem."

I know what the Nazi party was short for, what i don't seem to recall was the procrastination mindset. Oh and also two thing to take into note: If you have plasma weaponry then it should not have any knock back at all. The concept of a plasma weapon is that it burns incredibly hot, if you shoot something with a plasma weapon, for example an armored man, its not going to push the man back at all, its going to burn through the armor and to the flesh. Same thing applies to light based weaponry, it light, it has no kinetic force. To solve a lack of knock back in these weapons i suggest adding another weapon that does damage entirely by the use of kinetic energy, it would be more or less a glove that does twice the damage of the fist [2 hearts of damage] but makes up for it with a really high knock back. In addition to the glove there should be weapon mods, for example, an air compressor to the plasma weapon giving the weapon some, but not much, knock back power. Another weapon mod could be an improved laser optic, causing more damage. Only one mod could be added to a weapon at a time as to prevent over powering the weapon. The energy weapons should also have a cool down time to them, be it short, and another weapon mod could be an improved cooling system, making the weapon ready to be used again sooner.

Europe did almost nothing for quite some time, same with Soviet Russia. A lot of horrors could have been avoided had someone stepped up and stopped them before they industrialized. ANYWAY, sticking to the topic: assuming I was making plasma based weaponry, which I am not, plasma is a term with multiple definitions, and minecraft is not bound by earthly limitations. The weaponry I'm using, as I have stated god only knows how many times, is NOT simple-projectile based. That means no direct shot, point hurty-end, pull trigger, broomstick shoot somefin, bad guy head go bye-bye :tongue.gif: I am focussing more on highly exotic weapons that get the job done in highly exotic ways. I've been through some pretty advanced chemistry courses, and I can honestly tell you that if you wanted to produce enough plasma to fire it at any decent range from a handheld weapon, youd likely get a kickback so strong, youd do more damage to yourself than to them :tongue.gif:. That being said, again, I'm not using that stuff, nor was I ever. The gun you saw in the video, the hell spitter, nevermind the name, used fluid ammunition, not a plasma generator :tongue.gif: however, I've been debating whether or not to keep even that thing, as it is still an ordinary profectile weapon. I will consider it. It may be sort of a "default" weapon, when all other ammo runs dry, since your fists are basically worthless out there...
Let us get one thing straight away right now. With current technology or even slightly more advanced then current time...it may be able to produce plasma..into a weapon....but the material would likely melt and also melt through your very core...as the energy or possible material to hold its intense heat is way over our heads. With that said...minecraft does not even have gravity. There are only really two types of blocks effected by gravity. I do not have to say them, we all know what they are. Hence gravity does not truly exist. As with any other scientific principle. To say anything has to do this or that...your assuming a lot of things. Physics is truly non existent in minecraft.
Secondly...if you are all so anxious...stop having her write so many long responses...lets keep things simple and short...and stay away from socialism...or any type of political debate...focus she needs...so give her the time to focus...and results will surely follow soon after that.
Edit: Sometimes the first...and seemingly worthless can tend to be the most useful and powerful. Take x-com...you get to lasers...heck I never switched to anything else. Unlimited amo...nuff said. Now am dating myself back...as that game is from the early nineties. But still one of the best ever made.
I have an idea for a weapon. How about an explosive knife that you stick into an enemy and run away sticking could do no damage and if you are behind the victim and they wont even notice. I hope that's not too far-fetched to do since all mobs I've seen (mod or otherwise) notice you within a certain area. btw the knife is not a projectile so you have to get up close.
wow is this mod becoming intense or what. cannot WAIT to see the finished project. wonder if you'll add an area51 in or maybe not specifically area51 but something that resembles it slightly. basically some high level classified people went out and did eperiments with aliens and humans or whatever those dread thigns are called and spliced their cells and created the horrible monster of pure dread strength and pure human intellect and got far out of control and was sealed away and abandoned. Now the place has been broken open and the monsters prowl around hunting for prey around the area of the facility. Or instead of a human/dread thing it could be the place WHERE the dread monster was created by splicing some other random animals together. whatever floats your boat for the atmosphere your creating

What do you mean by "exotic weaponry"? On another point i want to state: The point of weaponry is to kill things efficiently and conveniently. That is why rifles are so popular, they take less skill to use then a bow or sling. If you plan on choosing weaponry similar to that of the Mech then i would like to point out that, while it is still power, it is not practical. That number places it can go are extremely limited and the power requirements would most likely make it less worth using. Things similar to rifles and handguns are superior to them in this regard, they don't take power to operate (unless you count the energy to launch the lead of the bullet) and they can be taken places a Mech can't. While it doesn't have to be a gun in the sense of weaponry that we have in the present, there should be some form of gun-like weaponry, especially if the dread swarm are going to be present. Things like the mech are siege weapons, tools that we would use to take over a city if you had a small army of them. Also do you plan on showing what the cities look like before or after the update. I personally don't care when but sooner would be nice.

An "explosive knife" would effectively just be a time bomb with double sided tape, it would only be effective against a dread swarm mother and if it could be taped to a wall then it would be useful as a breaching tool, aside from that it would probably blow you up along with your target more then anything else.

1: double post = not cool

So many weapons suggestions :biggrin.gif:
It makes me happy!
I have but one suggestion.
Something shaped like a large Rocket Launcher. it doesn't shoot rockets though. Instead, you load it with slimeballs, or something crafted from them. When launched enemies are coated in a green substance (represented by green water?) that quickly becomes sticky, and then solidifies, preventing movement for a specific amount of time, or (if you want) until enemies break out of it.
Why do I suggest it? Because so far, people have only suggested things that directly harms enemies. in my opinion, we need something else.
something to offer more of a tactical advantage than "see you in hell.... *insert large explosive noise here*". Why slime as a base for it? because quite honestly, we need to do something with slimes. other than pound the shi- oh wait, we'd still do that. probably even more... carrying on, I'm out!

I had an idea for a weapon. Mostly nonlethal: It does a small amount of damage, like, one heart, but it causes a 5-10 second stun. It would be large, and each thing of "ammo" takes up one inventory slot. I thought it could be like a large stun gun, with batteries as "ammo".

By exotic weaonry I mean like something fantastical and strange, but still usable. I'm not saying I want to use nunchucks or something, more like how in games like bioshock, fallout, or dead rising, where quite a bit of the weaponry is improvised from random assorted objects and made into something that is actually quite practical. Not entirely in the sense of practicality, or even that all the weapons will be makeshift armaments, but more the idea of using different tactics to accomplish a similar goal.
When it comes right down to it, you're 100% correct. Projectile based weaponry is the most efficient means of destroying everything. I made five firearms initially, a handgun (hell spitter), an smg (scorpion's sting), an assault rifle (phoenix's tallon), a sniper rifle (serpent's bite), and a light machine-gun (hellhound). They were -incredibly- efficient, and for a short time, they were fun. However, they quickly grew incredibly boring to use, as they made the game far, far too easy, and they just didn't fit in Minecraft.
There's a reason Minecraft has redstone, and not electrical wires: Minecraft is a fantasy game. Do you realize how horribly weak diamond armor, tools and weapons would be? Sure, nothing could cut it or scratch it, but diamond, irl, is -incredibly- brittle. A pure diamond pickaxe would shatter on the first strike on even stone, and a solid gold one would bend clean in half.
Minecraft is about fantastic adventure and building your own world, not limiting yourself to this one. If you want a mod that replicates real life, go learn java and do it yourself :tongue.gif: because I sure won't. I'm sorry if that seems at all harsh, but I want this mod to feel like it's a part of minecraft, and not some shooter-junkie's "fix."
