yes, I was worried about this. Perhaps RP will get delayed until after the redstone update, or perhaps it'll get released, then instantly become outdated again? Who knows.
ah yes ! you are right ! *crosses fingers*
As long as it gets released for 1.4.5 I'll just stay on 1.4.5. I'm pretty happy with the rest of the 1.4.5 mods.
I don't believe it will hurt RP all that much actually. Think about it, all RP's wiring and logic uses it's own code and the only time it even interacts with vanilla is when the user connects vanilla redstone to RP components. I don't know about anybody else, but I could live without that connectivity.
Hmmm not really sure.. But I think she has to use the code from redstone to make some things work correctly.. And sure a lot of the weiredness that redstone has right now that jeb said he will fix will hurt a lot of mods. Because those mods use the Quirks or restone to make things work.. Or they could around it to get them to work..
Thats what worries me. Hell it might be an easy fix.. But I always though that mods had to use restone logic in Minecraft to get any type of power or energy based system to work... Hmmmm. Hope not.
I'm kind of not looking forward to Mojang making the API, because I know that when that happens ALL mods will have to switch from forge to their API. But, I'm hoping that forge will be able to find a way to be installed via the API so then there won't be any hassle, and noobs that don't know how to install it will be able to enjoy the awesomeness of the modded world.
Forge will utilize the api for the limited amount it will be capable of compared to Forge and Forge will still do it's own thing. I chat with one or the other of Lex, Cpw and Overmind most days since I hangout in the irc channel. I have messed with modding mc here and there but only simple items or extending vanilla functionality such as how long furnaces run and stuff.
The modding api will be great for easily allowing the most basic of mods but any of these big, complex mods that are so popular won't beable to utilize just the api by a longshot. Forge is around for a long time to come.
Nothing stops you from using 1.2.5 however. The difference between 1.2.5 and 1.4.5(concerning mods) is just minimal. The mods are pretty much identical in content.
Really?
Try Steve's Carts 2.
Or ThaumCraft 3.
Or Thermal Expansion (was it even out for 1.2.5?)
Then look at Railcraft (steam)
Or IC2 (nuclear reactor)
Or Fatorization (whole electricity system)
Or BC (facades, pipes are better)
Do I even need to continue?
My point was if you want to play RP2, you'll need to install 1.2.5.
No, that was only 25% of what you said. The other 75% was: The difference between 1.2.5 and 1.4.5(concerning mods) is just minimal. The mods are pretty much identical in content.
From where did we get this "2/3 bugs left" info in the first place?
From the IRC channel. It was said that they were larger bugs and that they might take a while. That was the last I had heard. Then I read somewhere in the last few pages that there was only a bug left.

And saying that the mods are pretty much identical in content between 1.2.5 and 1.4.5 is like saying a Sopwith Camel and an SR71 Blackbird are pretty much identical airplanes.
I would like to take over the development of this mod, it seems the author goes MIA more often then not. This is leading to much criticism and impatience in the community. I feel that I can update this mod in a much more timely manner and have no problems sharing an open beta of this mod. The development will be a lot cleaner as I won't be relying on a handful of hotheads in a small server to report bugs to me.
I feel that I have so much that I can offer to the community and the best way to do that is pick up this staleware and update it in a timely manner while still adding new features.

What are you thinking... for one, they are not a bunch of hotheads... for two, really, if you have the ability to take over a project of this size why not just make your own mod.... one that you can claim as yours not taking the hard work of another and rebranding it under your own banner... please just don't
You have a person working on the mod, asking no money from you. You really have nothing to say. She could just pull the mod off entirely and that would be it. She doesn't need to do anything. It's all up to her.
Not to worry my friend. If it comes to that I will update the 5b2 release from scratch myself. I don't ask for money either, I'm just looking out for the best interest of the community.
You guys worried about the API? What about the Redstone update coming in January.. I could only imagine what that would do to Redpower....
Its almost to scarry to think about it.
I don't think the Redstone update is going to be too much to worry about as far as RP goes if you think about RP adds its own logic gate blocks so even if the vanilla way of making the logic gate gets broken the RP logic gate blocks will act as a buffer that would still work. The main change to vanilla Redstone is with pressure plates being able to base signal strength based on weight and I'm sure that wont be too difficult to recreate with RP Redstone wire. I'm sure the simple solution to signal based on weight would just be a new logic gate block that would have a pressure gauge to detect item, mob and player weight.
Doing that would open the door for way more complex Redstone designs when using RP. As an example you could use signal weight to help make a mob sorting system so you could have rooms with mobs based on weight class set to be ready for an arena scenario. So one room could open with frames to release a horde of zombies where another room could open to release skeletons since they would be of different weight classes. Another idea would be an automatic animal growth breeding machine. Where it would detect if a baby cow is grown you can then make the fully grown cow get pushed into a death trap, and have frames bring up a Railcraft feeders to force two cows to breed. Then once the baby is born until fully grown the feeder will become hidden again. Stuff like this can only make RP an even more useful mod.
Now that was just some examples depending on if they don't get lazy with the Redstone update and make all mobs the same weight.

she are still working on the mod, ever heard abaut direwolf 20s videos on youtube or twitch? you can get information from redpower in boath thise things and she are working on it and withles you are as smart as eloraam (0,0001% cance) i do not think its smart to try to update a mod that one of the most complex, big and with most quality in the hole minecraft community.

It's been a while since I laughed so hard.
I don't know if it stemmed from arrogance or ignorance. I notice that you didn't state your coding experience. Have you ever looked at eloraam's code? This isn't something you just jump at with no prior knowledge.

bwahhhahaha oh lord, thank you for this post, the thread was getting very dull,
Custom paintings! My latest project, still in BETA.
A small mod to improve your game, but keeping the vanilla flavour. For Minecraft 1.8.
Also check out my Redstone Jukebox mod, now updated to Minecraft 1.7.10!
I actually see quite and issue in that.
Using a vanilla button/lever/detector rail/pressure plate also counts as "redstone"
And might produce value from range 0..15 instead of "strong" and "weak"
There might be a couple of issues in doing the new kind of signal strength conversion.
or she could just make wires ignore it entirely.

i keep making the same mistake, i think "oh, i've given them a few months, surely it'll be fixed by now" THAT is why i seem to ALWAYS be angry to some of you, my advice is to get the lead out.
there were nice things here, until the mod author threw a tantrum.
