Ok guys heres the dealio:
If we dnt have redpower by the time FTB is released, i would not expect it for 1.4.2, because by that point 1.4.4 willbe a few days away, and an update would be trivial. Seeingas it took ~3 months for 1.2 > 1.4, a minor update like 1.4.4 should not take long, with extremely minimal bugs to fix.
Now everyone, no need to complain, it wont help. Use Mystcraft if you want, or just wait. Woudn't it suck if your world corrupted? Just think about that, and move on with your life, no need to spend hours arguing over how buggy it is.
It's time to buckle down and realize what Eloraam is doing to us....torturing us as we wait for the mod, making us to the point of death. I suspect that if this doesn't release soon, someone might drop dead. Either way, everyone be patient. 1.3 was hell to update and Dire's vids have shown us a little about what might come. Perhaps we will soon see this, but i'm not really expecting much soon.
I assume we shuold have an update within ten days, unless 1.4.4 proves to be a nuisance.

Yep, the mappings are going to change, but really it should only take a max of a hour to update to 1.4.4

Thank you for saying what we were saying. Let's wait 10 more days, like we did the last few months....Don't BS kid, you don't know and don't expect to. Redpower hasn't been active for a while and the update ain't gonna take 5 seconds. Unless Eloraam says expect an update, don't pretend an update is coming......
Oh come on man! My rant was way better than error codes!
No, not your rant... his quoting of your rant.
Your rant I agreed mmm.... 80% with?
@ezekielelin: You have nothing to base that upon and given the currently available info the exact same thing could have been said 11 days ago and would be wrong.
Fact of the matter is that 'any day' effectively started on Aug. 1st when Eloraam tweeted '...I will be porting to 1.3...' and most people are currently sitting at 3+ MONTHS of 'any day now' while the developer effectively went silent (aside from appearing in Let's Plays' and Streams.).
I think the thing that most people are finding hard to grasp here is that while the FTB is being released at the weekend, a lot of the mods it contains (such as IC2, Buildcraft, and Forestry) are still in beta versions and haven't been fully released yet, so dispite the pack being called "final", that really isn't the case yet, and and actuall FTB challenge map relies quite heavily on EE, which is also far from being complete.
However with that being said, apart from the likes of Thaumcraft 3, all of these mods are in some way or another available for 1.4.2, and to be totally honest I don't really see them releasing a "final" version of the modpack without some form of Redpower in it, unless for some reason the mod is not going to be released for 1.4.

The way I see it, there are some people overreacting, of course, but also some lack of comunication. Just a heads up, would calm down at least 90% of the comunity.
"It's going to be realeased when is ready" isn't an answer, cause RP2 as far as I know has never being ready, for 2 reasons:
1 - Rubber trees has no use other than sticks and charcoal;
2 - Tungsten is a funny block that is hard to find, thats it.
Maybe I forgot some other stuff RP2 adds and has no use, yet. So it has never being ready.
"Elo has being busy" - Sure, building a 2.000 square block castle, or writing the code so the computer can build it.
So, no excuses will justify the way comunity is being held.
To be fair, updating is some kind of grey area here since there is no RP2 for 1.4.2. Since making something combatible is something that is allowed in certain situations. I'm not very familar with such stuff, but there were cases with a lot of similarity that had mainly the same topic. It is grey since eloraam herself is working on a version for 1.4.2 herself.
Basically doing it for yourself is fine, the problem is, as soon as Eloraam releases her version the other version needs to be gone, which you just can't ensure since it will most likely spread beyond control.
Whenever you make something public a certain line is crossed which should really not be crossed.
Updating yourself isn't a problem, the problem is releasing in public.
Elo does not allow decompiling... even if you don't make it public you are not allowed to decompile the mod. If you say nothing about it nobody will ever notice... but normally you should not announce this.
And well saying that you will break her rules might just be a reason for her to delay the release.
<mounts soapbox>
People will break rules no matter what!
Ms E, IMO would not punish everyone because of a few. She is a MUCH bigger person than that.

That's not really fair, I don't know this Eloraam, but like all of us, she purchased a game to enjoy herself and in the process, wrote a mod to extend that enjoyment.
To say that she shouldn't be entertaining herself first and should be slaving over codes to meet some imaginary deadline is so unfair, it's a game, we play a game for entertainment, nothing more nothing less.
A release basically always is ready when eloraam feels it's ready.
This is the problem people are complaining in first place, When she feels like, when she wants, like: "the ball is mine, it's my rules, it's my way or the highway". Fine, people stop dling it and your mod is dead, and whats the reason of releasing it if not to have other people playing what you did. Powercraft is up to date, and for logic gates, it does the job.
She actually noticed that getting other mods to know is really necessary. The BT-Engine has a Bug that makes it hard to automatically shut it down with BC-Gates. And well... It should be fine to add playing minecraft as a hobby next to modding minecraft. Modding would not make much sense without playing the game. And I guess that the behavior of some people here might add to her attidude to rather have some fun playing her own and other mods than caring about what people say.
That shouldn't hold a realease, and thats why Alpha and betas are for. No problem having fun, everybody does need fun, and that's why people are complaining, there is no fun watching others having fun while you can't. It's like watching your friends play football outside while you are grounded inside home, not fun. And if the behavior of people is holding back the release, then if she ever want a spot on a gaming company, sorry to tell, that isn't the kind of attitude that will give her a job. IF there is any serious game developing enterprise thinking in hiring her, they WILL take a look at this thread, believe me.
And, you are not her, stop speaking as if you were.

If you are gonna quote what I said, pls get the context. I never said she shouldn't have fun, the statement was IF the excuse for not being able to release was "I'VE BEING BUSY"
I realize that what I'm about to show you guys isn't from RedPower. It's more of a fan-made "what if" thing. The idea was inspired mainly by ComputerCraft's turtles and Thaumcraft's golems. I thought, "what if RedPower had something like this?"
This is what I came up with:
Version 2 (skin change)
Visually, it's a bit of a mixture of WALL-E, R.O.B., and an old Mac classic. I had a lot of fun making it.
(edit: I updated the skin. Now it looks more like R.O.B. Yay!)
I really hope that Eloraam has plans to add some sort of programmable robot somewhere down the road, because that would be awesome.
Still seems to be a lot of bad 'facts' being tossed around here, so lets clear a few of them up.
The 'chunk eating' bug was shown on a video a week ago, however everyone seems to forget Direwolf20's vids are recorded roughly a week before they are aired, so this bug as of this post, actually happened 2+ weeks ago. Loooooooots of time for it to be fixed.
The official news given to us via watching through DW's stream is over a week old now, streams have more up to date information but are not on at regularly scheduled times, thus asking questions for information here, where others who have watched theses streams can answer, is a perfectly legit use of these forums and within the forum guidelines. Leave these posts alone.
Bugs need to be fixed, this is correct, but what is also fact is many of the bugs currently happening are due to new features added in rather than what already existed, meaning a port to 1.4.2 would of been much, much easier to do without these new additions.
Requests and questions are directly proportionate to how long the mod has been without update. The nagging will go down, when people have information to work with. Until then unless this thread is locked, trying to stop it is a waste of time. Save your fingers some work.
Plugging your ears and yelling the first bit of filth that first pops into your head doesn't suddenly make you right when discussing your point. It just makes you look stupid.
I still find it interesting that the problem isn't focused on the fact that Eloraam just doesn't talk to her community anymore.
I could wait half a year for a release easy, if I was just kept in the loop. If she's too busy, or has too high requirements to have fun to spend the 20 seconds it takes to tweet something to her fans, she has obviously had a dramatic drop in how much she cares about said community. I mean, her last tweet was "Have fun digging through massive amounts of large videos containing TONS of spoilers for other mods just to hope you can find the progress on RedPower" Why didn't she just tweet something about her current progress?

What was the cause of this bug?
As if she needs a reason. There are people in this thread that will give the reasons for her.

Except that some people might not like Mystcraft, want to use it, or even think the concept is a good idea.
