Have fun! Also, remember to install Risugami's modloader, or this wont work. Masterwork Swords, have almost twice the durability of the normal iron sword, and when they are tempered they are as strong as diamonds and last almost as long! Glass Swords, are sharper than diamond, but incredibly fragile, they can cut down a mob right quick. But don't rely on these swords by themselves.
If you have any suggestions, don't be shy, speak up. Your words might make it into the mod. I also plan on adding new Achievements and a fancy new set of items beyond just weapons. :biggrin.gif:
High Damage, one shot kills all farm animals, should oneshot creepers too. :/ a little broken yea I know, But Glass swords have 10 durability, and Tempered Glass Swords have 20.

somewhere in the programming they have an actual damage ratio though, i was kinda curious

12 full Hearts from Glass Sword if I did the math right. I could lower that... but it is meant to be a 'broken' Item. Will likely nerf this epic damage in a later update when I start adding more things to the mod. But considering I spent 13 hours on it today tying to get it to work. [turns out i flubbed the name of the mod with a capital letter where a lowercase should be... NO ONE noticed. >.> ]
I plan to add a lot of nifty things. And these will become more difficult to craft, though not much more difficult.
Nope... Needs to break in three hits or less. One would actually be best. Sand is extremely common and not very difficult to turn into glass. Even with 1 hit durability it would be extremely easy to just fill your inventory with these and be unstoppable. The non-tempered swords should have a chance of breaking without doing any damage, and even the tempered swords should have every swing count towards durability.
Of course this is all assuming you want to balance this... Otherwise, cool idea.
I think the durability could be 5 .-. and tempered 13 :]
BUT IM USING ANYWAYS =D
This is an awesome idea, i like private moddind and this idea never come :tongue.gif: but i always liked using diamond sword because its easy to kill creepers, but its hard to get one (and wastefull) .-.

I do plan on balancing and expanding on this mod. :3 But for this moment it is fine. I had one hell of a time with modloader today. So I will get to work on really expanding on this tomorrow. But thanks for the input. for you!
When it's done Likely I will be using Iron Bars for handles, and stage two glass components and such. :3 [yaknow, sand to glass, forge the glass into blobs, and then craft into like ingots or something lol.] I'm going to try and keep this original-ish as its completed. I wanted to have a glass tier to weapons. But I have other things I would like to add too. :3
At Gravyerd: Nah you should be able to craft this on the sides of the crafting table too. :biggrin.gif:
o.O i redownloaded minecraft.jar, added Glass Sword mod and ModLoader, it dint worked .-. even deleting meta-inf x_x
Do you made it with last version of modloader? .-.
This isnt working o.O

Made with MCP 3.3 + Modloader 1.6.5 with a proper Minecraft 1.6.5 jar. :3 Everything is done correctly :biggrin.gif:
Very cool. Swords should drop shattered glass upon destruction which causes damage to any one who steps on it. Or not drop shards or do any damage upon impact, but stick in the monster causing residual damage, such as a poison would.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
It's always raining underwater, that's why underwater is so wet.
I'm In the planning process of a full mod right now, using this as somewhat of a base. This "glass swords" mod was a jump off point for me to get into modding. Currently I am designing vanilla style icons for different things. As well as working through a progression for making nifty Items.
The name of the expanded mod is still a wip, but There will be a shiney new post when the fullmod is finished. :biggrin.gif: I may even make a server side implementation... but there's no guarantee on that. :x
I tried Download but it didn't work, this is when I'm assuming that you just put it in the minecraft folder. am I doing something wrong?
But good work I think this mod is a great idea!
The mod should work fine if you have Risugami's Modloader Installed in your Minecraft.jar :smile.gif: there are perfectly good instructions in that thread right there. All you have to do is follow those for installing ModLoader and do the same for installing my mod. :3
make it so you can make gold sticks to use in place of regular sticks, this makes more uses for the already useless gold
I've made a full overhaul, take a look. It's not gold, that would make it too hard to get, and I am sure people would rather make booster rails than use that gold for a fragile sword. :biggrin.gif:
The crafting arc is expanded and now we have MASTERWORK swords! :biggrin.gif:
this mod is so badass! i always wanted to make better swords :biggrin.gif: you get over 9000 diamonds for making this so far it is my favorite mod besides survalism! :biggrin.gif:
I started with just glass... but thats not all I want to do! So heres some more. As to not bee big and wordy I'll start with some pictures!
Make some Iron Rods! you will need these :biggrin.gif:
Make the Hilt of your new Sword! Nothing good comes from just hastily throwing stuff together, we're doing this like a PRO!
Awesome, It's time to forge the blade! Takes some quality workmanship this does!
Ok, carefull now, thats sharp. Once you've attached everything together your ready to use it!
Optionally, you can temper this bad boy and make it tougher and longer lasting!
The Glass is still here! Don't Worry!
I know I started with something completely different than last time, but the glass swords I made before made it into the mod. :biggrin.gif:
First! we need to smelt down some of this glass, carfull its hot!
Let's cool down those newly made ingots! Don't worry you won't lose your buckets!
Time to make a blade out of it! Look familiar yet!?
You remember the hilt right? well you need another one, so go make it so you can put that shiny glass sword together!
Of course you can temper the glass sword too!
Download! Beta 1.6.6

that way people will be looking for gold a lot more and will give more uses for it
you should also add armor that will make you take no damage for 10-25 hearts then it protects you as much as leather would [full body armor]
