Maybe both of those mods should be combined, or make it where if you have both if them installed, the flowers are Friendly for them [These Things DO Like Plant's so why not?], also, could you make it where they randomly plant flowers Hence making them Friendly to ALL of Nature's Plants?
Another Idea for this mod, is possibly make it where tree's slowly, and randomly just pop out saplings? Just so it give's things guys something to do even when you stop giving them saplings. :biggrin.gif:?
Anyways, Great Mod, and can't wait for the Update :biggrin.gif::D
Sorry to have to ba harsh about it, but no, no, no, no, and no. These are all requests I'm not willing to fulfill.
The bellthorns are done, completed, and i'm not goinmg to develop them anymore. They hunt strictly by sense of smell and kill any living creature besides themselves, no exceptions. If they're causing you problems with friendly creatures, I'd suggest removing them. They are starting to become a pest for me as well.
I'm directly opposed to flower sprites for a couple of reasons. One - it's riduculous. I pick up a flower - give it to a sprite - he puts it back down again. What did we accomplish? Absolutely nothing. Flowers spread fine by themselves and have no real purpose other than visual splendor. And if I just give them infinite flowers, your world will become overrun. And there will be no place to plant saplings. Also, 3 varieties of sprite is really enough. I don't want to make any more artwork.
And finally - If I made trees randomly drop saplings, your game would lag hard. This was proven in an old Indev version. If every tree had a chance to just randomly drop saplings, the sheer amount of item entities the game has to process every second would cause a ton of strain. You're also supposed to work for the grove sprites - you have to be their supplier. Otherwise, what reason is there really to interact with them? Also - modifying core game elements breaks ModLoader rules.
In short, that was probably the worst suggestion post I've ever seen in terms of quantity, but don't feel too bad. At least one other person thought they were good ideas. From this point on, no more fan suggestions will be taken for v2. i need to focus on finihing and testing what i already have done. Possibly for v3, but not v2.
No prob, they were just suggestions, but to Clarify my Reasoning for them-
I understand, why change something that already works fine? Though, my idea way to make the Grove's somehow smell like them [They are defenders of Nature], but just ignore this one. But one last thing to add on this one, They aren't a problem with all Friendly creatures, JUST this one [IMO].
One thing to correct about My Flower Suggestion- Is that they would randomly, and rarely drop them as they do with Iron blocks [Though yes, I do know your removing that]. Though, sorry, I didn't notice that they already spread by themselves. My mistake. This idea was just to make the Grove Sprites seems like "Overall" Nature Defenders, and not JUST for tree's, hence by helping the flowers.
About the Tree Problem. Nature Overhaul already does that, AND makes them plant themselves, so that's why I thought it wouldn't be that big of a problem [That mod is basically where I got the idea for this mod to just have tree's drop them.]. Though, this mod would need to drop them MUCH Slower, because it would just be meant to make the tree's slowly replant using the Grove Sprites, even if you don't help them, but by you helping them it would happen MUCH, MUCH faster. One last thing to add, is that you could remove them spawning with ANY, and hence they have to collect from the start, giving the Tree's dropping them even more of use.
I know you said you weren't going to take anymore suggestions, again, This post is just to clarify my Suggestion, and to make it sound less......stupid?
Yeah, okay. I see what you mean now. I had a few solutions in mind -
If you play on peaceful, the Bellthorns won't attack anything, and neither will the cinder sprites. If you really wanna keep the little dudeas alive, you gotta realize that there's a wide world out there full of danger, so you either have to be attendant, or compromise.
If you want a mob that spreads flowers, try out my Fairy Mod (not yet updated to 1.6). They always place flowers when they spawn.
And lastly, well why not just use Nature Overhaul with them? I've been getting messages from the makers of Nature overhaul to let me include Grove Sprites in their pack (because they would fit perfectly), but they're already going into Quintessential Creatures, so I had to say no.
I didn't really understand adfly when i got this so i used the direct link. But i just went back in and re-downloaded from adfly once i got it all down. great job on this mod, it is only the second one i have ever downloaded but im loving it. (although Mo' creatures, the third mod i got (which i'm not sure i'll keep TBH (wanted to go for three parentheses))the bears like to kill the little tykes) I need to go check your other mods. I've been considering faries but it may just be a smidgen too homosexual for me :biggrin.gif: )
I really hope you do a standalone version, instead of just having it in quintessential creatures... otherwise Ill just revert to 1.5 every once in a while
Just a quick summary, Bellflowers are passive bellthorns in another color that won't attack anything, just looking really neat and nice in gardens. Obtained through a 10% chance of bellthorns dropping them.
Lilythorns are blue-ey bellthorns that grows in water, like lilies. Hostile and attacks everything not smelling like themself.
And they both have their own bulb. Read about them on your bellthorn tread =D
Umm, so basically, for the bellflowers, you're just wanting a duplicate of the code with 90% of its functionality taken away? A mob that exists for purely cosmetic purposes only? Because you can't decide whether Peaceful or Normal mode is more fun? Sorry, that's a little bit shallow for my taste.
Speaking of shallow, what's the point of a mob that just floats on the surface of the water, immobile? It's not really going to get in your way, and you could easily swim under and around them... unless you just hate squids that much. And if this is another cosmetic idea, then I'm out.
See, this is the sort of thing that you should take some initiative to try yourself. We make mods of the game, right? So why not try making mods of mods? You can use my code if you want, you just need to learn how to do it. Everyone has their own coding style, and plan for things they want to do. When I make mods, I always try to use my own ideas rather than suggestions for other people. And when I improve my existing work, I only consider things that will increase the overall gameplay value, not just make it more glamorous. But by no means does this mean that the game could do without it.
I'm not saying "no, it's a bad idea". I'm saying that I don't want to do it. Because it doesn't sound like any fun to me. That doesn't mean you or anyone else can't do it. Try suggesting this to someone else and see if they want to do it, or try taking up modding yourself.

1. NO. I did not make the bellflower idea because of that. I suggested it bacause I would like to have bellthorns in my buildings without having to wear a bulb each time I get home. I always plays in at least easy, especially because the bellthorns.
2. Yes, Lilythorns was for more atmopheric feeling.
3. Im still trying to learn modding, so I cannot make it by myself.
But thanks for telling me how shallow my ideas was..
Ok Zekrom9 your ideas arnt shallow you just like a more atmophere in your world,Im the same way as i also would hope for new types of bellthorns like a blue version thats more rare and slightly stronger but drops a new item or something. And Koda you have the right as a moder to make what you wish to and what you injoy most of all.In a state like this all can say is those 2 parts there are both correct.
1. Fill an average area with fences and a gate.
2. Atract 10 of grove to inside of it
3. Divide your saplings by 10 and give to them
4. They wont despawn. they'll make your an AWESOME TREE FARM.
5. While destroying trees, do not select the logs in your inventory
6. ???
7. Profit
8. CALL THEM SLAVES.
WHAT HAPPENS IF SUNLIGHT LAVA SET A FOREST ON TREE? WILL THEY KILL LAVA? NO! THEY'LL KILL YOU! RACISTS! X_X

exactly what i did. but in getting ready for thier anger towards wielding an axe I have build aptly labeled "Grove Sprite Holding Cages" for putting them in while harvesting. although foxes still like poking thier noses in the fence and eating my grove sprites. I only use birch sprites so restocking the slave quarters is a pain.

They can be rare at times just keep looking! lol
That i also would love to see.

I really have no idea what bellfowers or lilythorns are.
When will the beta 1.6_4 compatible version come out?
for you and for the sprites :happy.gif:
