Your friendly neighborhood Kingpin here...
Hello everyone! I hope you all had a memorable Holiday and New Year. Just a quick update and shameless bump. I have been in the process of enhancing the Gorilla. I had promised a few weeks back to implement a taming function for those hairy bastards. So i am pretty much done with what i set out to accomplish, allowing them to be tamed with...yep, bananas of course. When i stumble upon a great thread of the works by an author named Corosus. Corosus offers some really great mods, one of which is call 'Pets'. 'Pets' allows for pretty much any entity in Minecraft to be tamed and controlled. So i immediately download the mod and get to testing before i go to bed. And Huzzah!! The mod is compatible with the 'Kritter Kollection'. So, for anyone that has ever wanted to have an army of Gorillas, Centaur, or killer Pygmy at your command, give that mod a try and be sure to thank Corosus for his kick ass work.
Does anyone have any thoughts on whether or not i should release my version of the tamed Gorillas? Would you guys just rather use 'Pet Mod' by Corosus?
Also, i had an itch to make a new block. I know, i bet there is a cream or ointment for that, right? LOL So i thought i would make a new block/ore that is called LimeStone. And after it is baked in a furnace , the result is Marble. Seems like Marble would be kind of nice for columns and various additions for homes and buildings. I have already implemented LimeStone in my personal/development version, but i have not added any recipes to make with the Marble block yet.
Do you guys think i should release the LimeStone/Marble ore officially? Should it be a seperate mod from the 'Kritter Kollection'? And if anyone has any ideas for recipes, things to craft out of the Marble block (like Marble columns and such), please post them here.
I think the limestone should be a separate mod, and it should work like clay :
If you break a limestone block, you get 4 limestone shards (or whatever name). Smelt them to get marble shards, and assemble them in a square to get a marble block. Once it's placed, maybe you could do something than when it's right-clicked with a pickaxe of any form, it cycles forms between columns and stuff like that.
It's very clear and precise in my mind, but I'm having troubles explaining you...
Yea, im picking up what you're throwing down. That is a great mechanic for the new block. I like it. Just need to come up with what forms it cycles through. Great idea, Balth. Thanks so much. Ill be working on it as soon as time permits. And if anyone has any ideas for new mobs, I am open to suggestions. Keep the AI requests simple though, or behavior that is already implemented in my mod. Talk to you guys later.
Have you guys tried out the 'Pet Mod' i spoke of in my last post? Id like to hear everyone's thoughts on that mod pertaining to the 'Kritter Kollection'. Its really quite a fantastic mod. Along with his other mod that adds new zombie pathing and scent detection. It really adds a new level of depth to our Minecraft worlds.
Hey it´s me, Bockwurst!
Just want to say that you TOTALLY should seperate the download of the "LimeStone"! Maybe it´s a little bit hard but there are tons of more ore mods, decorative block mods etc. out there! Also until now this mod was a pure mob-mod and it should definetely stay a pure mob-mod. But this is just my opinion. Maybe your marble mod is awesome and the best mod of the world, but it should still not be together with this mod! Then it would be: Kingpin Kritters!!!and Marble...
and this doesn´t sounds right to me...
Also I would be happy about tameable gorillas. This could be a lot of work for you but personally I like corous mods, but don´t love them (I love yours). Also maybe many people don´t want pathfinding, blood etc. and all this trouble with installation of another mod blablabla... And the banana would have a cool use! ^^
Well, I made a new icon.png for the banana O.o Don´t know why...you can use it if you want. I don´t know if it looks better:
i like the limestone idea of mod but if you would put it with kingpin kritter nod ulld have to add more than marble maybe a few more ores like emeralds or amethyst or you could just make a seperate mod for it but anyways peace! GREAT MOD lol :wink.gif:
KingPin I'd like to say this mod is one of the best I've seen, and it's definatley up there with more creatures, but the main thing i like about this is the texture style vary with each mob and give the game a more versatile feeling. Anyways nice job and I think I'd prefer the gorillas to be tameable without the pets mod. :smile.gif:
Your friendly neighborhood Kingpin here...
Hey guys. LostKingpin is still alive. Just wanted to check in and let everyone know what is up. I have had some family issues here in the past weeks. So that is why the update to the newest official release has been late. I am very excited for the new stuff in 1.1. Especially the new jungle biome, finally a home for the gorilla. I have not forgotten about the Kritter Kollection and plan to update it as soon as i can. If i had an ETA i would post it, but i do not at this time. It will be soon though. Probably will not have any new content, as i want to make just the version update a priority. I will keep you all apprised of my progress.

You can´t believe how happy I am to hear that! That´s awesome! I hope your family issues are solved.. But take your time! I can wait(and I think everybody else can too!).So you don´t have to hurry updating this mod (You know: Real life>Minecraft). It´s still awesome to hear you are "back in buisness"! :wink.gif:
Released LK's Kritter Kollection Version 1.4 (Check out the Opening Post). This release is just a version update to make it compatible with Minecraft 1.1. No new content or features have been added yet. I did, however, decrease the spawn rate for Anubis Dogs. Get the word out to your friends about this release and ENJOY, guys! I WILL add new features and mobs in the near future, assuming time and commitments will allow. Apologies for the delay in tamable Gorillas. New mobs, an installer, and SMP support is in the works. I was not able to test this release like the others, please post any bugs. And as always, feel free to leave any comment or questions.
Quick update - Personal/family agro is dying down and i have been starting to pick up where i left off updating the Kritter Kollection. Please be patient for new content and features.
On to the reason i am posting.... I recently saw a mod on PlanetMinecraft. I am not aware if it is on these forums, i have not looked. It is called 'More Mobs Mod'. It does add more mobs than this package, but imo does not come close in originality or craftsmanship. I have not installed the mod, so my opinion is based purely on the pics and description. This mod had over 15,000 downloads on PlanetMinecraft. That is WELL over the amount of downloads for this project.
I know this is so egotistical to say, but i think this mod should have over 15,000 downloads. I am thinking that the name, 'Kritter Kollection', is confusing to folks and so they are unlikely to check the mod out. Do you folks think a name change would help, like the aforementioned 'More Mobs'? Any thoughts? Id really like some help on this. Any suggestions for names? Thanks for reading and as always thanks for the support of the project.

Hey Kingpin,
I think it´s not egoistical from you to say that, no it´s good that you are determined and that you are honest! I can totally understand you. I don´t want to slander about the more mobs mod, but in my eyes your mod is much more complex even if the other mod add a lot more mobs (ok now I slandered...) However, I think it´s because some of the mobs are animals that exist in real (tiger, rabbits etc.). I don´t know if people don´t like this "fantasy style" even if it is in my eyes awesome because it´s innovativ and not the same like the thousands other mobs mods. Also I think it´s a good idea to change the name, maybe it´s a little bit too confusing (or just add informations in the description, you know the little small grey text, like: adds CATS, gorillas, Fishes, PYGMIES etc.) But please don´t name it like "More mobs" then you could also name it "Another mod that add mobs, don´t click me because my name is so boring" yea...I know it is difficult but it should be a name that is special but also informativ...you know what I mean? I guess not...hmmm...I´ll think about it maybe someday I have a idea how it could be called...but it´s your mod, do whatever you want and what you think is right. Maybe you even have a cool name? That´s all at the moment...
I've been trying out your mod with a few other mods, Some to be exact was fairy factions mo' creatures and thaumcraft, I Started on a new flat world, And i have yet to see one of your mobs. Can we get a little bit of a spawn rate adjustment?
EDIT: Forgot about biome specific spawning... I tamed my first loaf cat, One thing that i noticed that was Awesome was that the loaf cats got darker in rain, Then when in cover they shake off like dogs. I think if you could add some more mobs with this kind of detail, This mod would become very popular. Another thing that'd be sweet is if you could add the ability to tame the gorillas, And the ability to breed loafcats and the gorillas
Hey, LK ! Great to see you're back in business. Yeah, this mod totally deserves to be more known. Maybe you should contact Texturepacks makers ? A weel supported mod usually is more downloaded.
But, with the addition of cats in minecraft, what are you going to do ?
As always, thanks for the support. I have asked a few texture pack authors of their interest in supporting my project. And i think i will still include Loafcats in the collection. Since each mob is able to be toggled, folks can turn off which ever fits their needs.
- New Name Update -
So here is the list of names i have been playing with. I am going to start a poll tomorrow, i think, to see what everyone thinks. Please comment on them and leave a post if you have any more suggestions for the poll. Some are playful and some are ...well not. I look forward to reading the comments about them. And, again, if you have any more name suggestions, don't hesitate to leave a post.
I really like this mod, the anubis dog is probably my favorite of all of them. Keep up the good work, i'm watching this topic and hope to see more awesome mobs!
Mucho mobs is my favorite out of the name suggetions
Also, I know you probably get a lot of requests, but here are just some ideas...
Evil Octopus: Lives in the water and attacks players, spawns in bodies of water.
Earwig: Giant earwig, attacks players in low light and spawns during the day in desert and forest regions, has low chance to poison player.
Manticore: Lion like beast with scorpion tail and human face, has high hit power and can sprint like ocelots, Spawns during night and dies during day, spawns everywhere.
Sphinx: Rare mob, but spawns only in desert, acts like manticore and drops gold nuggets.
Evil Pumpkin: Looks like a pumpkin block but when players gets close attacks like a slime, drops pumpkin seeds, pumpkins, and pumpkin pie which can be eaten for 3 hunger.
New Craftable Pumpkin Pie: Can be crafted with sugar, wheat and pumpkins.
Exp orb: Surrounding an iron ingot with slimeballs crafts an exp orb which can either be consumed for exp (a random amount each time) or by using a gold ingot instead of an iron one it can repair enchanted weapons without removing the enchantment. Exp Orbs look like purple colored slimeballs, Ecnanted Repair orbs are a mix of green and purple. tougher mobs could drop these as a rare reward.
Anubis: An extremely rare boss that spawns underground in caves, only one can exist at any given time and they do not despawn until they die. Can summon anubis dogs to attack players and can when attacked can either run back and shoot fire or charge forward and hit the player with it's claws. Looks like a normal player wearing a toga with an anubis dogs head, only bigger and the head is red. Drops gold ingots, bones, gold armor, exp and enchatment orbs, and cooked porkchop; it always drops one iron/diamond sword with random enchantments of the players level. Sometimes anubis will randomly attack mobs, excluding any animals and anubis dogs. (This would be hard to code)
If you like these ideas tell me, i have tons of them but for the sake of the posts length didn't post them all.
