To my knowledge, it's compatible with MCPatcher. I don't have access to a Mac, unfortunately, so I can't tell you if the install process is different. Shouldn't be, but I can't say with 100% certainty. Did you install the mod first, or use the patcher first? I think I remember having that issue once and changing the install order did the trick.
On another note, DJ says thank you for the compliment. Made her feel all warm and fuzzy inside and whatnot.
I think I found a slight incompatibility with Mo' Creatures... I started a world and I've so far only found one "normal" koi, and tons of moon and dragon koi after installing Mo' Creatures.
Could you remove or change the 2 of the same mushroom recipe for koi flakes into a shaped one? incompatible with apothecariums mushroom spores right now
Hadn't thought about Zombe's mod, maybe use singleplayer commands for your flying needs? /bind f fly will let you do it with a key rather than typing /fly to enable/disable it. As for Mo'Creatures, I'll look into it. We've had some issues with it in the past, likely due to both mods changing spawn rates and max spawns for water mobs. With the 2 mushroom recipe, I suppose I could change the it in some way. Removing it would mean you need one of each, and (in our testing) we always seem to have more of one type than the other. Does the Mushroom Spores mod use a shapeless recipe, or do you need to place them a certain way? If it's shapeless, I'm not sure it can be made compatible (I haven't played with recipes much, so I'll test that theory). Maybe I can pop a "compatibility" file in for Mo'Creatures (hopefully it's that simple) and the Mushroom Spores mod.
Haven't done much work on it in the last couple of days, as DJ and I discovered Borderlands recently (thanks to a friend who gave us a copy). She'll be out of town this weekend, so I'll try and finish up the koi code, do a new release. Hopefully I can get some videos up of the gar doing awesome things in-game before we leave next week. While we're gone I'll be pseudo-coding during downtime, and I'll see if I can get DJ to come up with some new model designs. We won't have regular internet access during the week we'll be gone, so unfortunately we won't be able to show any new stuff. As always, glad you guys enjoy the mod, thanks for the support, and we'll try to have some new awesome soon.

The mushroom spores is currently a shapeless one, but I'm going to make it a shaped one to be compatible with this, whatever is loaded last got the recipe, even with a shaped one for mushroom spores the shapeless one for the koi flakes overrides it

Alligator Gar....bringing the terror of slaughterfish from Morrowind into minecraft. Though speaking of...would it be possible to have some cave fish types for the future? biolumiscent if possible. Perhaps a cave eel, jellyfish, peaceful lantern fish, etc..Minecraft's aquatic aspect desperatly needs attention, but despie this I have only seen three mods even touch it. this mod, the sharks and dolphins of mo'creatures, and the coral mod. Love this mod, and I truly hope you enjoy making them as much as we enjoy playing them.

I'm not a lurker...I just stay quiet so the creepers don't find me.
So is killing the koi the only way to catch them? I just found a school of them and fed them and they seem happy, and I wanted to take a few home with me.
i dont think you should finalise this. i think you should make it a japanese type mod adding cherry blossom trees and everything O: i'd definitely download it
Whew, alrighty. Well, thanks for the kind words guys, I'll try and address your questions/suggestions real quick:
DJ has been asking me for a while now if it's possible to spawn certain types of fish in caves, I'm interested in finding out, but I'm not sure if there's an easy way to do it. I've been playing with the bioluminescence and I figured out that 256x128 is not an acceptable resolution for the "bright" texture, which means DJ will probably have to go down a size on the moon koi and dragon koi to get them to show up properly, unless there is some as of yet undiscovered workaround. Still, we can probably make it work.
Second, yes, killing the koi is the only way to catch them right now, and I'm not sure if that will change in the foreseeable future. Also, they all spawn on all difficulties, if you're having trouble finding them, well, they're supposed to be rare. Considering they are diamond farms (if you so choose), we don't want them to be ridiculously common. Next release they will have individual spawn rates however, as a koi that gives you string shouldn't be nearly as hard to find as one that poops out diamonds.
On the matter of cherry blossoms (and other things for a proper koi garden), there are other mods that take care of that. If you prefer not to play around with a long list of mods, you can just alter your texture pack. Notch has added lily pads, and you could alter the biome shader to include pink and white trees in certain areas, and I'd rather not bloat the mod up for people who may or may not want the other stuff.
Hope that covers it, sorry for the lack of a release this weekend, still trying to get it perfect. Forever tweaking and all that.
I love my fish. Finally found and caught a Buddha koi, so now I am going to try making an aquarium indoors. I wanted to ask though, what happened to the dogs? DJ Persnikity has a link to this thread for Corgi-shaped corgis, and the first responses to this thread are about the dogs, but I don't see any mention of them otherwise. Is this a mod you dropped at some point? (Sorry if this is something everyone knows. I've only been acquiring and downloading mods for a month or so.)
Yeah, it was dropped a while back because I got REALLY tired of people telling me I stole Nandonalt's mod. Then Nandonalt said he was going to be adding an option to alter the shapes in addition to the scale, and I figured there was no way I was going to compete with him. As it turns out, he never did it, but all info regarding the dogs has been removed from the OP to prevent people going "You stole this", which continued even after the mod was no longer being updated.
For those curious, Nandonalt's mod allows you to scale the dog along the x, y and z axis, which meant shorter muzzles, docked tails, bigger ears, floppy ears, and general odd shapes weren't possible without the dog looking like it had been run over or put through a vice to get that shape. Mine was just a set of custom models for certain breeds, namely a corgi, boxer, dachshund and pit. No plans to release publicly again, sorry. Ironically, a few people have stolen our stuff outright and they rarely, if ever get called on it. Such is life on the interweb though.

Hey, Love your mod, the fish a beautiful. When I saw this I actually joined, just to ask you if your team would interested in other marine mob ideas. I have a some left over materials from my teams failed "Marine Craft", I only have access to the mob concepts though (as the designer and skinner.)
Just wondering if you'd be interested.
Thanks for the great mob.

beautiful mods thank alot, are you planning on making it smp also?
Yup. I'm playing peaceful, and I've found some. No idea if they all do, but I've found a decent subset of them.

Oh well. :sad.gif:
Suggestion, whenever a koi doesn't drop an egg, could it drop a vanilla fish? It needn't die in vain.
Just wondering if you'd be interested.
Thanks for the great mob.
