I made a very simple mod and will be releasing alternations of my first version. I would like some feedback. Also I don't know any coding. If anyone wants me to add any more splashes or a different color alternation then just ask. I will upload a photo as soon someone tells me how. Note this has been tested and works. Also can be installed through TFC Mod Manager.
Not bad. I wouldn't say its a regular mod your would see on the forum, but it is Modifying the game. Nice first mod though, for you. Can you post some pics please? It would be nice to see what you added. Thanks and i Love you(No Homo)

This isn't even a mod that alters the game. A mod needs coding intelligence, adds new blocks/alters the game.
This is just an alteration on the textures. A texture pack is different from a mod. Anyone can alter the splash.txt because it is a text file. A mod usually alters .class files not .txt or .png files.
Please... Splash Text Mods are NOT MODS.
How many times do we have to convince you? (Not just you, everyone else who makes splash mods too)

A mod is a Modification of a game, This is modifying the title screen. So, it is in fact a mod.
By that logic texture packs and language packs should be posted here as well, yet they have their own sections.
That is true, but since there is such a high demand in Texture packs(Dont know about Language Packs), there is a suc-section for them. Just like there is a separate section for clans.

Would people like it more if I got rid of the splashes and just made the mojang logo and minecraft logo changes? Also once again this is my FIRST mod ever (even though it may be considered a texture pack. Also I am in the process of making a "real" mod which will add a new ore to the game.

Um, actually yes. My first mod added actual items to the game (it didn't catch on, though, and no one(only 4) people downloaded it ;_:wink.gif:, and you could just give us the list of splashes. That way, we can edit it ourselves and feel proud that even someone with no modding experience can say "I changed those splashes!"

If I didn't make it clear enough then I will repeat what I said. I have no experience in java and an currently making a mod which adds a new ore to the game using a tutorial.
this isn't really a mod, my texture pack does this too.
I know people already told me this. When I finish the mod I ma currently working on I will probably move this to the texture pack section and put my "real" first MOD here.

This is my first mod. I also started this with no Java experience.
Don't assume that just because you have no experience, you can't make something great.

I found the best way to do anything is by understanding. I browsed around for a while until I gleamed where certain things were defined, but then set about working most of it out for myself. I did ask for help occasionally, but only after trying ridiculously hard to solve it for myself. Treat it as a puzzle. Everything is possible, you just need to find out how.
It takes much longer, but it means that you become a better programmer in the long run, and can do more of the same sort of thing faster in the future. As well as that, you can apply knowledge to other things that may not even be directly related. For example, you can use your knowledge of the world generation gained from making new ores spawn to create new biome types with different terrain. It would need modifying, but the code is essentially similar.

I even looked at the splashes, not very good.
why do you think I asked for suggestions?
I did alter png files.

It takes willpower and determination.
And a little luck.
...And hours and hours of pain.
Did you get help or use tutorials?
