Hey ironclad hows things going with the server version of elevators, are we close to having a working smp forge version?
It's about as close as it was before. My work on the mod has been delayed because of my university's finals week. I should have plenty of time to work on it starting in a few days though.
I'm probably going to have to ask for some advice on one of the forge tutorial threads because the bug I'm seeing really doesn't make any sense to me and I'm currently out of ideas on how I can fix it.
(Not sure whether I mentioned it before, but the main bug with the server version right now is with communication between server and client about the location of elevator passengers. If you've tested the client version that's up right now, I think you'll see that elevator passenger movement works almost perfectly now. This is very much not the case on the test servers that I've set up - passengers are prone to fall off, fall through elevators, or get stuck glitching up and down once the elevator comes to a stop.)
Just a Head's up info iron. Dynamic elevators removes the assembly table from buildcraft. I have tested it and with DE in the mod folder the assembly table is not in the NEI list or craftable (the recipie actually crafts a redstone chipset instead of the assembly table so the recipie is there but not the item). without DE it is craftable and shows up on NEI. Using latest versions of both DE and BC (DynamicElevators_Client(v1.6_eval) and buildcraft-client-A-core-3.1.5 + the 5 others)
EDIT FOR CORRECTION
I use the 4096 fix to allow higher block ID's and noticed this line while trying to see if I could change something in the config to fix it.
opening_allowed_blockIDs=215, 77, 34
I had to change the caller to 3215 so I changed this line to
opening_allowed_blockIDs=3215, 77, 34
and now it works.
I'm guessing the 215 is the assembly table for BC
checked whilst editing and I'm correct, the Assembly table is in fact ID 215
One question: Whats with the elevator for forge? Can I use 1.6 Beta or still to buggy?
From the bug reports that I've been getting back from both versions, the 1.6 version of Dynamic Elevators is actually much more reliable than 1.5.1. The only known major problem it has is with the multiplayer version, which I haven't put up for download yet.
the dynamic elevator does not work with the More Pistons mod =(
It does, you just have to change the block IDs using the mod's config file.
And luacs1998, I've thought about using just a single block ID for the mod, but that would make programming extremely and unnecessarily complicated. Also, due to the way the blocks and block IDs in minecraft work, I probably wouldn't be able to combine all four block IDs that I use into a singe block.
Sorry for the delays everybody! Having a whole bunch of craziness right now with end of college semester / start of summer internship stuff. With any luck I'll be having more free time in a few days to work on this mod and update the others. The forge version of Dynamic Elevators should work for everybody with only very minor problems. Powerstone is in the process of being updated, but it isn't finished yet.
- Hidden floors a way to access your penthouse but nobody else can go. (4 digit code)
- Different speed elevators.. (express elevator)
- "this is just a tought" a way to bind or a rule to the call button.. So i don't have to make a 3 block wall between 2 elevators
- Or a universal call button if 2 elevators are near each other (one block wall).. One button to call the nearest elevator.
The current version of the elevators is probably about the fastest I'm going to make it - it already moves at close to the maximum speed for minecarts, if I remember correctly. The behavior that you're describing for the call buttons (call the closest one available) should be the way call buttons already operate. If it's not, let me know. that's probably a bug.
heysuses - You might be running an older version of Dynamic Elevators, it had a glitch when unmounting players and caused the sudden drop in the shaft and massive fall damage. Try the latest version of Dynamic Elevators, if you haven't already, it doesn't mount players to the elevator blocks, instead it just pushes them.
