i love this mod!! however, ive got a great idea. Make the channel names for the quantum software configurable in a .config file. this way i can have one chest linked up to a storage center with channel names like "tools" "fuel" etc.. maybe even be able to have any (reasonable) number of channels.

I can't believe it worked. Only problem I had was with the Furnace software - it didn't smelt cobblestone!
I've smelted cobble just fine with furnace software, if you put cobble in the top row and coal/charcoal/wood/whatever you like burning in the middle row (with furnace software installed, and a furnace next to the magic chest). Should work fine.

Confirmed. Scanner software recipe is a little broken. I tried it a couple different ways then loaded up recipe book and had a couple more go's at it.
The disk that's required to craft Scanner software is a broken vortex disk (damage value 0).
If you want to craft Scanner software in v0.8.1 you'll need to:
-Craft Vortex software.
-Place Vortex software in minor slot of a magic chest.
-Break the chest to pop the disk out (this will break the disk)
-Craft Scanner software as the recipe shows with broken disk. Like so:

Other than those four things everything was great. I especially liked the channels on the Quantum Software, very nice addition.

The Vortex Software upgrade is craftable. [or was the last time I tried]. Though it took me two tries because one of my vortex software disks was broken [broken vortex software disks do not work - and look like advanced vortex disks]. If all three vortex software disks can stack then you should be able to craft them [using the middle row of the crafting table] into enhanced vortex software.
Ed: Mining software does "work", problem is it only mines the block directly above the chest. So it's not very "useful" currently. Aero96 is working on making it work better. He's just not sure what it should do, or how, and is open to suggestions.
I´ll fix everything, redo miner software and add the Disguise software plus redstone support for 0.9 today or tomorrow.
I´ll try to do the SMP version (so 1.0) at the weekend.
After this I will stop developing on Magic Chest mostly (unless anyone has a cool idea for a software), though I will fix bugs (mostly related to SMP), update to new Minecraft versions and answer questions (I´ll concentrate on a new project, it´s a game, and on school =( ).
Hmmmm well I got the Vortex Software upgrade to craft, odd that it didn't before as I tired like 5 times... oh well. The magic chest with Miner Software still just sits there though...
alright, it seems there are a LOT of things to do now...time to get to work :3
a few questions:
1. when upgrading software, does it have V2 and/or a different image?
2. which recipes, if any, are still unable to make without hacking(i.e. scanner)?
3. for SMP, who thinks there should be private and public quantum channels(private has [username]:[channelname])?
4. who has ideas and what are they?
5. do different versions of the same software still stack(i.e. adding repair software V1 to a V2 stack)?
oh, and also, fraglex if your quantum data is now empty then I cant help you there. if you can re-create it on the other hand i'd be happy to look into it.

So i just installed this mod and love it, but i cant make the upgraded repair software. I can't even use invedit to get it, and modloader says everything is fine. I'm not sure if I'm actually making the upgraded vortex software either, I can craft it but it looks the same and when i went through the item ids that you said a few pages back in invedit, there is only one for the normal vortex software and id 28567 didn't work so I'm assuming that is the upgraded repair software, any ideas?
I think the storage minecart files are bugged. What happened to me was I broke a button near a storage minecart, and now every time I load that world, it crashes! Help please!
