but can you let us know what are the ID ? and how can i change them, i have other mods who use lot of ID and can cause conflict
i've done some math, for 1 steam locomotive we need :
-17 obsidian
-128 coal
-62.5 irons (because we need 3 wheels)
and for the 2 other :
-12 obsidians
-96 coal
-42 iron
EACH
and don't know for the secret one, i can't install the mod without knowing and changing the ID
Thanks, I will add a config.txt so you guys can change the ID
And I will increase the amount of items produce by recipes so it costs less to make the steam locomotive and the 2 others

cool idea but could you make the graphite more realistic and use clay instead of obsidian in real life clay is used as a binder for the carbon
This is awesome! Your train and pchan3's airship mark the very beginning of a totally revolution for the age of steam in minecraft. Well done, good sir!
This mod definitely has potential. Right now though, minecarts go faster -provided with a booster of some sort- and offer the same cons/pros (e.g, minecart w/ chest has only 27 blocks, run on coal pieces, push in the opposite direction, etc.)
I say the trains need to be made loads faster, and possibly connect like real trains, instead of just pushing minecarts. Like I said though, this mod is a pretty sweet work. Just keep improving on it! Right now it's kind of weak.

The triangles ruined it for me...that and the church for Satan.
Dude you too lazy to make recipes :tongue.gif:
Texture is fine.If you notice this is MINECRAFT
explain better? You cant understand?
UHMM troll? Don't be jealous
Jealous? Troll? I thought my points were valid and my post respectable in tone... But I'll explain my points in greater detail if need be:
1.) Since this is a mod for creating a locomotive in Minecraft, the idea should be to be able to make the train within a reasonable amount of time, especially if one is playing legitimately. This means reducing the amount of steps necessary in creating the object itself, and removing a great deal of these extraneous items with mis-sized item textures. It makes things more convenient for the player AND the modder.
2.) The art on the whole is lacking somewhat, because of how dark the iron plates are, and how large the item textures are. I'm not trying to call out the OP on his artistic skills and saying he has to be a Monet or Picasso, but just a little variation would be nice. A texture map like this:
would be a welcome addition to anyone that would like to contribute to this mod... It's Minecraft, but that doesn't mean everything needs to be solid colors.
3.) I claimed "false advertising" because it's visible that the train is actually running backwards. It would seem that is the only direction it can run, and it also gives the impression that cars are connected when they are not. A little more formating of the OP would help with this, and it'd be great if anyone could contribute a video of the mod at work... I understand, it's just not easy as it could be to understand precisely how this mod works.
Wow. Amazing mod, earlier today I was actually planning a city in minecraft but it needed trains to work better/ be more realistic and I was going to try to get some one to make a mod like this but I found this :biggrin.gif: Also I was wondering if you could add a function so when in the engineers seat you could start the train/ stop it and when you right clicked or something you would change the speed ( speeds- start, slow, med, fast, stop) or something like that. Thnks for the awesome mod!!
I understand the need to have many complex recipe's for having such an awesome locomotive in the end.
However, I think it would be best to tweak it just a tad bit.
I was wondering how the new powered rails and detector rails would affect your mod. Would it make it run faster/stop ?
Ok I just tested it out and pardon my ignorance but how is this any different than the regular cart, furnace carts, and chest cart other than the fact that they are new recipes and require a crap ton of crafting and you can ride in the furnace(steam) cart? I'm sure the secret recipe does something interesting but there doesn't seem to be much point in these new carts aside from having a little variety in looks...
I have to agree here. All it seems to do is make it look good, at a much greater cost. The only exception would be the steam engine, that is, if it could actually pull things instead of just push (hopefully only for now). At the moment I have no ideas for improvement on this subject, but I'm sure others will, and I'll post any I have in the future.
Don't get me wrong. I love the idea of connecting towns in SMP with railways, and I think this mod has a ton of potential. I do have one suggestion for it, however. In the planes mod, you push R (i think) to open the plane inventory and that's where you put the coal. I really like this and think something similar would go great with the steam engines. Then (this is just a brainstorm), you could push forward (toggle) and gradually move faster and faster, consuming coal like a furnace. Brakes could be the down key, and would gradually slow you down to a stop (faster stop than acceleration). These are my thoughts for now. Enjoy
P.S. I like the way it is now concerning the multiple crafting recipes to make the train. No need to make major changes with that (maybe some minor tweaks with materials used, but that's not necessary)
Not sure about the addition of steel, at least not without some other things you can do with it.
Thanks, I will add a config.txt so you guys can change the ID

Ok, I will change that in next update

Instead of making 30 parts, combine those into 10 parts, and then combine that into the final object (That is also, the plane mod.)
I find it cool that you WANT to add "reinforced steel alloy double bolted plates," But for this game, at least make it a simple recipe.
add the train jupiter heres a link to the pic pm me if u r cause i want that train in minecraft really badly

awsome work man, and thanks for making a passenger train!!

Great mod nonetheless!
Cave Johnson, we're done here
