i thank you very much newbymodder and Sparx for this mod!
looks like one cant record a large area at the same time? tried to record my large city (still unfinished, but the server will get a new map :sad.gif: )
unfortunately i now have 2 mods with the hotkey M, at both no way to change it myself
edit zan.settings file in minecraft root directory.
problem solved
Added a config file to it. When you run the game it`ll make a file called worldrecorder.txt in your .minecraft folder, you can change the key to whatever you need. After changing the key you need to restart your game.

Welp, it's working for a little while. But then when I'm walking around, it inevitably crashes with a null pointer exception. This was both with and without other mods installed.
We're getting close, though! So close, I can almost feel it!
Edit: One of the other folks on the server brought up a valid question: Could other people being in those chunks doing stuff be causing the crashes at all?

Maybe. Try changing your render distances too and see if that helps.
WorldRecorder only records blockid's so special information contained in blocks are not implemented yet. I'm nearly complete with my 3rd mod (maybe finished by tomorrow) so expect to see this updated after a new XRay.

Thanks to sparx10 for updating while I'm busy.
I actually tried on all render distances. Same type of crash, unfortunately. But hey, this has potential to be a very helpful mod, so I'm willing to wait for a possible fix down the line. :smile.gif:
One of the best mods ever^^
Working on a huge project in a 99% legit SMP, its very usefull to save the project, fly around it in SSP finding flaws, improvement of designs and even just to take actually good screep caps.
You have my thanks for creating this mod^^
@problem-having-people:
I had the same problems as most of the people here, it helped when i made a backup of my .minecraft folder, deleted the actual folder and then force-updated + redone recorder mod + modloader.
Then all i had to do was enter the server with render distance on tiny, and jam M every 50 steps :3
and the map saved correctly?
Sorry I have not had time to deal with this mod, I've been updating my texture pack and working on my server. I'll try to look into it a bit tomorrow.
For when you update this: Could you let us change the m key? I use it for zans minimap >.<
I added that

It saved correctly, yes^^
After saving i started the map, since the poject i saved was at Y=9700 and z=3700 i spawned in what i think a newly generated area? i used flymod to get to the coords (yeah i shoudlve used in-game commands i know) which took a long and laggy while ( i assume it was generating new chunks?) what i wonder is, if i go save new area's again on the smp, will it redo the chunks i already generated by travelling to my project in ssp? It'd be a shame if it didnt :3
Also @ whoever suggested autosaving every so-so seconds, i totally agree with that :3 it'd be nice if it autosaved at either every 15 , 30 or 60 seconds^^ That way i could just play like normal in the smp and also copying the world bit by bit :biggrin.gif:
I'll see what I can do about an autosave feature. And I'm pretty sure it does overwrite/redo chunks if you were to reconnect and record.
Well, I tried clearing my .minecraft folder, and starting brand new with everything, and it still crashes frequently. Not only that, but if I connect to the server again, I can see in the Java console that it is loading all those chunks, but pressing M doesn't do anything besides every once in a while flash the "Saving Chunks" screen so fast that you barely even notice it.
I would really like to use this when its updated to 1.5_01! It will be awesome to have a map of some of the servers I play on, and get used to where the important buildings are. However it could be used for greifing, but on PVP servers someone would have to get close to the building to get a full map of it.
tl;dr Plz update.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Been Playing since November 2009, Bought Beta in April 2011, Played on a friends account since March 2010.
Thank you for such an awesome mod.
Just a suggestion:
This mod is incompatible with mcserverlist mod 0.3(1.5_01)
I love both the mods but cant use them together. I think its mainly cause the WorldRecorder:Disable button
is placed on the multiplayer server connect screen which is also modified by the serverlist mod.
Although I can see the button when I click it, the screen changes and so the mod doesnt get enabled.
Plz fix it or make a version without the button plz...
UPDATE TO 1.5 NOW OR I WILL GIVE YOU A PRESENT OF TNT THE HARD WAY!!!!!!!!!!
Dude, STFU. You should know that NO MODDER is REQUIRED to update their mods or do ANYTHING with them. They do this because they like modding and things like that, so if you just rage on them, they will stop modding and you won't have the mod AT ALL. If you were smart, though, you would have read the thread and found that someone else already updated it to 1.5.
Can you try remaking the mod with the modoptions api or guiapi (for the enable button and key selector)
That should solve any compatibility issues with the serverlist mods...
Very useful mod, it's a shame that it's development was stunted by drama. Unfortunately it's a bit too late, the server I go to is down now.. I hope to see it back up, along with an updated version of this when that happens. β)
I'm trying to save a 1.5_02 bukkit server. So far no matter where I go, hitting m will only save the area around spawn, or the area I first loaded world recorder in, not sure which. Is there something I'm doing wrong?
First, thanks for the great mod. But I have one problem. It records the entire world good. I could go around to some places. But for soem reason, i keep going to one place, and at the same place my minecraft crashes. Does anyone know how to fix this? Could someone please update a bug free version? Thanks, and take your time. I would rather wait longer for a clean plugin other then get it now and keep crashing. :biggrin.gif:

( It's the only mod I found which is able to give the seed of a multiplayer map... )

No no, it works, I have exactly the same map ( without constructions ), it IS the right seed. =D

Correction : CJB's More Info Mod give the seed of SSP and SMP maps. =p

I guess we just have to be patient.
Have you tried Minecraft AutoMap?
