here is an idea! when you make a companion cube with a wolf how about make more versions of it using the other mobs like a creeper cube and zombie cube of Example. I would love a house a made of Compressed creepers. LOLZ
iv all redy segeted this INCULDING THE CREEPER HOWSE...
So, I just read through the bugs added by the new version on the Minecraft wiki, and Jesus H. Christ on a rubber crutch, is the list ever nuts.
I immediately thought "man, people must be flipping out", so headed over the the Beta Survival thread where all hell seems to be breaking loose.
Looks like Notch fixed 20 bugs and introduced 50 more with these latest releases. From what I'm seeing, it seems the game is hardly playable anymore.
So, my question is, has anyone here upgraded to 1.6, and if so, can you answer the following questions for me:
-Is the game playable as it is?
-Is it true that seeds no longer drop from hoed grass and that tall grass doesn't spawn in existing regions, meaning you now have to travel to the edges of your world to get seeds? (if this is the case, I'll probably leave hemp seeds spawning from regular grass when hoed, as this change just seems retarded).
-Does anyone here think I should upgrade to 1.6 in its current state even if MCP is released? From the looks of it, the game isn't going to stablize again for quite a few versions, and if that's the case, it seems rediculous to try and play catch-up with all of them.
Anyways, this whole thing seriously has me scratching my head. Seriously, wtf?
Not saying anything here...but no, it wouldn't use another ID :wink.gif:
Even if you added the functionality that tnt has to it?
I thought if you where to use the same ID and setup as the companion cube and make it like the omni slab/wool(not sure if its ids are separate or one) it would have to behave the same as well?
Shet don't quote me on that though, I know next to nothing about the games code, I just can't wrap my head around it any other way.
---
Also 1.6 is perfectly playable, imho people are being melodramatic.
A few bugs pop up and people start deciding to be heros and make mass threads so that when its fixed they can feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Nah man. You can special case functionality based on those 4 bits of metadata I keep talking about, just like you could special case something like the colour of wool (which is exactly what the wool code does).
I wouldn't do something like that for serious functionality, like say cramming the Saw and Hopper into the same block id, but for something as simple as special casing what happens when the player activates the block (which is a one-time event...or happens so seldomly it will have no performance impact), I could just do something like test to see if it's the creeper variety, and blow it up if so.

K, good to know. Not wanting to update myself, for obvious reasons, it's rather hard for me to tell just how bad things really are in practice from just the epic bug list.

Judging from Notch's tweets, a new update should be released pretty soon to fix the worst bugs.
(Like the dropped tools problem) Then I think it will be a reasonably stable version to update to.
We can't just stay at 1.5 indefinitely...or can we? Dun dun DUN!
Hell no ! I'm even considering waiting for 1.7 (if it's better) and not even try 1.6, or at least not for a long time.
Yeah, we'll see what the updates bring. Notch tweeted earlier that he's going to work tomorrow to fix the bugs, so maybe he'll really take it seriously.

Hehe...nah, I guess not, but there is part of me that likes the protest aspect of a portion of the community saying "Sorry Notch, we're not updating to your new releases anymore, we're just sticking with 1.5 and this mod"

Yeah, I'm talking about 1.6.4, or whatever 1.6.x it is by the time it stabilizes and MCP comes out. I'm just referring to it by the general label of "1.6".
While I'm sure Battosay is rapidly rushing towards the finish of the "fully automated tree farm", I thought I'd post the following for those of you who it might interest
One fully automated hemp-farm/milling plant, using the changes in version 2.20 to the way the Mill ejects processed goods:
There's only two water source-blocks involved. One to the top left corner in the pic, and one directly behind the mill.
It's none too pretty as my hemp farm was way too close to bedrock for me to lay it out nicely (hence why the chest at bottom is embeded in the ground, but I think it's still a successful demonstration of the concept
Thanks for the offer man ! I've already tried to restore his building with mcedit, but the chunks are completly unusable, every block that he placed became some sort of red #invalidkeyX# block. Tried several other patch and stuff to fix it, without success. But it was a 4 or 5 days old map, and he already started a new one and forgot the old one, so don't worry, it's not worth the trouble, don't waste your time on that, your custom launcher sounds way more promising =)
Yeah, so far the UI is done (Although I might switch it up later) and a large portion of the code is done.
Currently it has the ability to add jars to a list then run them (Which is a bit sketchy right now) its not working how I want it so I'm gonna make sure I'm fully satisfied before I go putting it up for download.

Hey I found a Good mod Combo with this mod and the 2x2 crafting mod Shields, daggers, water wheels, Saw mills Just seems to fit together some how. :biggrin.gif:
how about being able to use rope and anchors to tie a boat so it wont float away this won't add any new ID's but might be hard to code IDK I never coded before. :sad.gif:
Hehe, looks like the empiric (is that even english ?) wayis always the fastest.
I like to test and understand my new toys, so I can use them at their full potential
Hehe...I think the word you want in English is "empirical", but close enough
Let me know what your solution is to this one. I'm thinking a "heat shield" of cobble above the saw or something might work. I'm thinking over the different options myself right now as I consider my own tree-farm.
Not gonna bother.
However, I found a WONDERFUL world world seed ILIKPAN
Then, go to the giant mountain thats around there, and go inside the cave: 50% of the time, there will be a waterfall in it.
I made my home inside, and have a waterwheel...
I think it might have been asked: Does hand crank work with saw?
TIME TO GROW TREES IN MAH HOUZE
iv all redy segeted this INCULDING THE CREEPER HOWSE...
That's all I heard.
Efficient way of gaining a tnt substitute?
Would be a waste of an ID though imho.

In other news my .jar switcher is 80% complete thanks to some kind folks helping me out at HF.

Man, sorry but I haven't programmed in VB in over a decade. Can't be much help to you with regards to the specific syntax.
Yeah, we'll see what the updates bring. Notch tweeted earlier that he's going to work tomorrow to fix the bugs, so maybe he'll really take it seriously.
a) I can't until MCP and Modloader update. This is out of my hands.
Given the conversation going on right now, I'm not even sure that's a good idea, even if I could.
c) Making demands like that won't make you any friends here. At least not with me.

None of my Hemp seem willing to grow past the first block.
Do Omni Blocks, when adjacent to Hemp, prevent growth?
EDIT: Nevermind, it seems when I updated to the new version of BTW it fixed the problem. :sleep.gif:
Yes, Yes and Yes, but 1.6.4.

If I can't uncorrupt it ill see if I can extract the land he built on including all structures and put it on a new map.
And i did update to 1.6_04 but quickly reverted back to 1.5_01 Way more buggy than 1.5_01 is probably best to wait a bit before upgrading :wink.gif:
And this might entertain you "You can't have your wolf and eat it" I beg to differ with BTW mod :biggrin.gif:
