Yup...an update pester by any other name stinks just as badly.
I think for this update in particular my attitude is going to be "screw'em". There's really no need to update the mod to 1.2.4.

There really isn't. 1.2.4 doesn't add anything special if you ask me. plus it ruins the whole 1.2.3 thing.
I guess the bug fixes from it could be something of interest to people who are having issues with it, but thats not me so no ****s are given.
... so we can use BTW in conjunction with multicolored wood. That can come later

Nah just kiddin, it's nice to be back in the MC community after so long. I've finally got into playing BTW with vanilla w/o SPC or TMI. It's tough, I'm barely out of the first tier, but I'm having lots of fun which is less than I could say before. Keep up the good work FC. Lookin forward to your next innovation.

The only thing that has got me interested in the new version is, ironically, the colored wooden planks. And I'm not even sure if it applies to stairs or slabs (though if not, I'm sure there will be a million mods that make it so). Woo?
Also, come to think of it, it'll probably just make things harder when I pop above ground, take whatever logs are nearby of whatever types, and expect to be able to convert them all into 1 stack of planks.

I want to get past my OCsoD and play Minecraft like it was meant to be. But now I'm hesitant.

First off I haven't gotten past forums page 1085 yet so maybe I don't have anything to fear. Second, based on what FC has said and done in the past things should be all right... But I have to ask him.

FC, I suffer from Obsesive Compulsive Starting Over Disorder and I've been wanting to break this horrible habit as of late. Should I wait for your big April update as it may break or change many things, or as always, it'll fit in with the rest real nicely? Will I want to start over because there is new content in lower tiers?

FC, I suffer from Obsesive Compulsive Starting Over Disorder and I've been wanting to break this horrible habit as of late. Should I wait for your big April update as it may break or change many things, or as always, it'll fit in with the rest real nicely? Will I want to start over because there is new content in lower tiers?
Hmmm...I try to avoid giving hints about things, but I think most of the community probably realizes that you'll need a developed world to take advantage of the new content.
There are many places to get old version jars. And seeing as this noob (and Son) have had MC for 5 weeks. I'm sure many of you thumb suckers can find it too.

I Me personally get them from the folder on my computer labelled 'old jars'. Never hurts to preserve the past.
