As for space consumed, that's entirely intentional and will not change. You can look up the interview I did awhile ago (Battosay has a version of it in his video channel) for a more detailed explanation of why I consider that to be a good thing.
That sounds familiar. Is that the same interview linked in the Forge thread? I listened to that a while back and I don't remember that topic being discussed, but I might just take another listen to refresh my memory. :smile.gif:
Placing bets now on how many pages there will be where most questions can be answered with a combination of the words "waiting", "MCP", "Forge", and "takes time".

It should be the one. There's the part where I talk about what a fan I am of multi-block functionality and huge constructions.
To my mind, this provides a purpose to building. One of the nice things that's evolved with time from people using the mod, is folks building entire villages setup around all the different functionality built into the mod. Smithies, pottery workshops, etc. Giant Wind Mills have become one of the first things I tend to build my new bases around now.
It brings life to people's worlds and makes the overall experience more immersive IMO. Being able to build whatever you like in MC is one thing, but providing reason to build is another entirely.

We've discovered a unique strategy in this thread where we respond to "Update Nowz!" posts with talk of tasty pastries. Worked like a charm when 1.8 came out

One of the things I am most pleased about Notch's recent additions is how bookshelves placed around an enchanting table increase its effectiveness. I am very happy to see that he seems to be catching onto how these multi-block constructs and providing gameplay reasons for building them can contribute to the overall player experience.
Now we have a reason to build libraries. Sweet. I don't like much that has been added to the release version, but I think that particular sub-feature was a stroke of genius.
All the time, I thought this mod was all about wolves...
Until I saw a youtube video for it.This is a great mod!
If you want more downloads and views, changing title WILL surely work.I hope this gets updated to 1.0.0 ASAP :biggrin.gif:.
You know what? Now that I think about it, it makes a lot of sense. Of course I'm finding mechanical power frustrating to use, because I'm trying to put everything that requires it all in one space!
It certainly would be a lot more fun (and less frustrating) if I made dedicated buildings for different things rather than just having a strange, all-purpose laboratory :tongue.gif:. I might try starting a new world with just BTW and not RP2, and see if I can get myself to move away from the "compact = better" methodology I've had since the beginning.
In fact, I'll turn on Hardcore bucket mode too. We're gonna do this with style! 8)

Hehe...that's the spirit!
And yeah, RP and BTW have very different design methodologies. Not saying one is better than the other, just very different.
I tend not to make things easy for the player, even to the point where that often takes much more work on my part than a simpler solution might require.
The Hopper filters are a good example. It would have been the easiest thing in the world for me to just test for a particular item in the filter slot and only allow that kind of item to pass through.
Instead, I meticulously went through every item in vanilla and the mod, basically assigning shapes and sizes to each, to determine what could pass through each kind of filter. The first approach would have taken me 5 minutes, while the approach I chose consumed hours initially, and continues to consume more time with each new item added to the game.
I have absolutely no regrets in that regard as the approach I chose provided additional challenge and immersion for the player.
Easier does not equal better. If you go too far down the easier route, you may as well just put in a block with a big "win game" button and be done with it.
Honestly man, I think BTW is best played on its own. Many mods out there will offer much more efficient means of doing the various thing that this mod can does, and I think it's the natural tendency to just use those kinds of solutions to a problem when they are available. Whether someone is actually having more fun as a result is a matter of personal taste.

I dont know why I bother to look at the posts from the peanut gallery after a Minecraft update. I really feel like crying. Based on the comments I see I truly believe human kind will be little more than pack animals in a few short generations.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Why??! Why my piggy?! I loved-ed you, piggy! I loved-ed you!
Hehe, I cant wait till this updates! All though I know it will take a pretty long time because you need Modloader, Forge, and MCP to update first >.<
Minecraft 1.0.0 and this will be a very nice combination!

I personally prefer to view most of it as malicious troll attempts vs mod authors.
Frankly, I think I find it easier to swallow that people are petty and evil rather than being as incredibly stupid as they come across as being with these "Update Nowz!" posts.

So yeah, I'm not a fan of compact

I do it all the time myself

How about a nice plate of oatmeal cookies?
How about some cake.
Quoting it is better?
Not even bacon ice cream will save spam.
Personally, i prefer chocolate chip.

Nope, it's being ported to "Saints Row: The Third".
