how are you going to 'fix' the unnecessary and overpowered horses and donkeys?
Rip them out, jump up and down on them, then unleash a bevy of bodily fluids upon their smoking remains.
There's already a BTW add-on in the works to create a more reasonable version of them in keeping with the balance of the mod, but given they are largely extraneous, I'm going to try and avoid spending any time on them beyond that required to swing the axe.
what about carpets? i don't want to go on a rant about carpets...
What? You don't like pixel thin covers that only serve the same purpose as a block already in the game? Is building 1 block thick wool floors where the wool doesn't show in the ceiling of the floor below not something that you wish MC had on a daily basis?
Sheesh...some people are just never happy
Honestly, I may just start recycling the blockIDs that Mojang are using up like drunken sailors and start using them for something else entirely.
I mean, it's not like I NEED a daylight sensor, I play on creative and set it to night only to take screenshots showing my flatland builds. I also play on peaceful because mobs are too hard.
That comic..Reminds me I get feels remembering when water/lava's current/flow didn't come from dispencers or 1 source block behind a piston. When minecraft was a more static world, every time I see them being used for that.
That looks freaking awesome, it's like Don't Starve.
how did you do that and what does it look like with night vision potions? (I bet a glowstone beacon would be insanely valuable as a survival tool and not just a luxury)
To do that open the 'options.txt' file in the .minecraft folder. The sixth line down should say "gamma:0.0" change that line to "gamma:-1.0". Then start the game.
I have no idea about how it looks with night vision potions or beacons. I don't have either yet.
The Nether is.. um.. strange.

Well, this is really off-topic and I don't see why FC would need to do anything for it to be used in BTW. But the linked Reddit post tells how to do it. For reference,
Go to your options.txt in .minecraft. Set the gamma value either above 1.0 for higher or below 0 for negative.
On that note, I thank you for posting this, because it's exactly what I needed to make myself all the more paranoid in caves and to stop mining in the dark. (though I think FC is also working on a solution to that)
Have you ever considered reducing the range the player can use certain things like the craft bench? I ask because a while back early on when I'm playing I could leave my craft bench on the surface while I dug my hole.
Then when mobs were around and I couldn't leave. I could jump up while still in the hole and select the table and still craft on it after I'd fallen back down out of reach distance.
It just sometimes feel odd to still be using the craft bench when its out of my sight or too far away again.
Yes, I do that too, I was more searching for tips to fight them, as I said I used to build barricades of fences to slowly move forward but one managed to get through :/ Well, it was just one and it happened only this time, maybe I just need to be more careful knowing that occasionally they can do that.
It may have been the spawner that caused one to spawn behind your defenses. You can always make sure to build 1-block wide tunnels when dealing with them as they can't get in those.
I wish I knew how to make a Better Than Wolves version of this quote dissing vMC 1.6:
You want a dwarf? There's your ing dwarf. You want some better graphics? you. Dwarves can do lots of stuff. Like digging. Can you dig? Hell no. Play Dwarf Fortress.
I would totally use this in a signature, but I just can't think of a good one.
-Added an animated texture to the Saw when it is powered. Note for texture pack artists: due to a bug in the vanilla rendering code, it's currently not feasible to create an animation that will rotate in the appropriate direction for both top and bottom textures. This is why the default animation for the Saw has an ambiguous rotation direction, and I'd recommend doing the same in your texture packs.
-Added Hardcore Redstone Recipes. What this basically does is change any vanilla recipes for redstone reactive blocks so that they actually include redstone in the recipe itself to avoid cheap exploits like using levers instead of redstone torches to save on redstone dust. It also removes redstone functionality from certain early game blocks for consistency and to increase the value of their later game counterparts, and also ties some of the redstone devices into BTW's overall tech tree. Changes to individual blocks as part of this are listed below.
-Changed the lever recipe to consist of redstone dust, cobble, and a shaft in a vertical line.
-Changed the pressure plate recipes to consist of redstone dust with siding of the appropriate type (wood or smooth stone) above.
-Changed the button recipes to consist of redstone dust with a corner of the appropriate type (wood or smooth stone) above.
-Changed wood doors, trapdoors, and fence gates to no longer respond to a redstone signal.
-Changed iron door recipe to include 2 units of redstone dust in the top and bottom corners of the crafting grid (the 6 iron part remains unchanged).
-Changed the tripwire hook recipe to consist of an iron nugget, wood Moulding, and redstone dust in a vertical line, and to only produce one hook as output.
-Changed Obsidian Pressure Plates to Soulforged Steel Pressure Plates for consistency with the other redstone recipe changes, and because it better explains the player-only functionality provided. They are now created with 3 SFS ingots is a row, with 1 unit of redstone dust below. Note that this also affects the Obsidian Detector Rail.
-Changed the "supports" in abandoned mineshafts to consist of logs rather than fences and planks. This was done to increase the challenge of exploring them, as the fences were causing pathfinding issues for mobs, and the logs cut down on visibility leading to more nasty surprises while exploring them. Logs also look rather cool in this role and give the mineshafts a more oppressive feeling.
-Changed Mystery Meat to only drop periodically to prevent exploits.
-Changed iron and gold ores so that they only drop in the specific color of strata mined if a silk touch enchant is used, otherwise they all drop in the lightest color of stone to prevent stacking issues.
-Changed (reduced) the growth rate of Hemp to encourage larger farms and to better match the reduced growth rate of other crops.
-Changed the Turntable and repeater recipes to use clocks instead of netherquartz (or redstone dust in the older recipes) in order to increase the value of gold in the middle to late game, with the underlying in-game logic that gold is used as an interfacing material between redstone and quartz, and thus is required to create timing mechanisms.
-Changed the drops on Gear Boxes, Axles, and Saws when they are broken due to misuse to take advantage of some of the newer items in the mod (like saw dust and iron nuggets) and in order to better convey the destruction involved.
-Changed the recipes for Chowder and Cream of Mushroom to produce two bowls of soup (with the recipes now requiring two empty bowls) instead of just one to increase the value of squeezing cow titties.
-Changed the recipe for Scrambled Eggs to no longer require a bowl (it's just a bucket of milk and a raw egg now), changed the icon to reflect this, changed the recipe to produce 2 units instead of 1, and increased the hunger restored to inspire additional squeezing action. In other words, if you have access to milk, they're now a more efficient use of your eggs than Mushroom Omelets, given the relative difficulty of acquiring milk versus mushrooms.
-Changed Hardcore Spawn so that if you're playing single player (this doesn't apply to multiplayer for obvious reasons), and you are assigned a new spawn location (dying over and over and respawning in the same spot won't do this), you will respawn on the morning after you died. This is to prevent overly harsh situations with respawning in the wilderness in the middle of the night, and to reduce suicidal behavior upon respawn awaiting the next day.
-Fixed problem with being able to walk on the edge of blocks in order to avoid movement modifiers due to HC Movement.
-Fixed problem with mobs not burning in sunlight when caught in spider webs. Note that this fix may not apply to webs that have already been placed in your world, but will work for all newly generated ones.
-Fixed problem with redstone torches popping off of some surfaces to which they should be able to attach.
-Fixed problem with the player sometimes being assigned a spawn location in a ravine with Hardcore Spawn.
-Fixed problem with chickens still being able to be fed my hand even if they had just eaten seeds off the ground.
-Removed the recipe for creating synthetic redstone from the mod. Sorry guys, but this was devaluing mining in the late game at diamond level, which is something I am trying to make more rewarding rather than discourage.
Enjoy!

Hey, may I have permission to create a custom launcher that will automatically download your mod, the appropriate minecraft.jar, LWJGL, and mod it correctly and launch the game? My friends have trouble installing and playing the mod.

I'm glad I just finished making a bunch of turntables. I kinda wish I made more now.
I was wondering what you'd be doing to make gold more useful, and this will certainly do that.
I'm a little bummed about the removal of synthetic redstone, although I do understand why you removed it. My late-game mining only really currently consists of flattening land rather that acquiring resources. With the exception of lapis, that's always in high demand and short supply.

That's a nice change, but something like that seems so unlike something you'd want to add.

Wanted this for so long. Redstone was always easy to get just through mining.
That's a nice change, but something like that seems so unlike something you'd want to add.
Hehe...keep in mind, most of my changes make MC harder because it's in such desperate need of it, not because that's the only change I'm capable of making
Lol, it hurts so good with the redstone changes. Although, now that redstone has a block component, and it's no longer a trivially easy resource to obtain, might we be seeing a redstone beacon in the future? Or maybe a coal beacon thanks to coal blocks being added in 1.6? or even a hay bale beacon!?!?!
Ok, half-joking (at least on the hay beacon), but I love the effects and changes you made to beacons so much that I always want more to build! XD I've collected a teir III gold, teir III lapis, teir IV glowstone, teir IV hellstone, and teir I looting beacon so far on BTS's server! \:D/
I would like to ask you this how the hell do I get output from my command blocks now. I was hoping to have a command following elevator but apparently I can't now because you don't like a item.
