i came here to look for an updated link for it. lets face it no mod even the big ones like ic2 or buildcraft are good just by themselfs.

Then obviously you don't use many mods for other games. Compatability is on a by mod basis, and yet no one complains. Minecraft is unique in this case and if you listen to other modding communities very.... juvinile as a result of it. Hell, the mod packs (if you can call them that) in other games are done with express permissions and often are tweaked to make a cohesive experience. In Minecraft... it isn't done this way. Seriously if the mods you play aren't enough by themselves then you need better mods. This one works very well for me and is the only one I need.

You should read the links that you quoted. Although the minecraft forum one just gets full of misinformation on both sides of the discussion.

I can understand flowerchild wanting people to play it the way he designed but its not for him to say that is the only way it should. with the btf upgrade people can play it with other mods should they choose to or with out should they choose to do that, neither is the right or wrong way to play it. i cant see his problem with it.
First, it's BWF, not btf, so you obviously aren't very aware of the overall issue here.
Secondly, if you want a fraction of BTW's functionality in an extremely buggy form, I guess you might enjoy something like BWF.

I'm perfectly fine with BTW by itself. Been watching some of the Mindcrackers play FTB, and I would never play it myself. Individually the mods seem interesting, but together they just feel clustered. Also, BTW alone is better than IC or Red power or whatever alone imo.
Mainly because it's designed to be THE mod your playing, not a mod that's likely going to be paired with half a dozen others.
Also, Better than Buildcraft was modified specifically to complement BTW rather than compete with it.
again though thats the way you choose to play, but it shouldnt be enforced...plus your sig shows you like to have build craft with better then wolves ....just saying
As for my signature it hasn't been updated in ages due to me tending to lurk and not log in very often. BTB was a mod "pack" (using this term very loosely) that combined two mods in one thing. It died a long time ago, and as such I just haven't had much motivation to change it till now. As for your whole "Player Choice" arguement, again I point you towards how mods are handled in other games. There is no reason to expect ANY RANDOM 2 mods to work together, ever.

I believe he means he has two different jars, and he's using MagicLauncher to switch between the two.
I don't see ModLoader mentioned anywhere. BTW requires ModLoader to run.
Also, a note: I've noticed many people like to switch between two different mod setups, but usually end up having problems.
I personally suggest using this program. While it does not ease the install process for mods, it does lessen the risk of crashing and world corruption.

Btw, I found that though OptiFine does not work with BTW, mcpatcher DOES (not every component, but the ones that count work fine).
Now, I know this mod doesn't play nice with other mods, but an hd fix is standard, is it not?
I use MCPatcher which works just fine, although you shouldn't install Random Mobs because it overwrites a few features including the arcane scrolls. Some details and installation instructions can be found in this thread on the BTW forums. Last I checked, optifine won't work at all now.
