i used this mod and its a bad ass mod, trying to convince other people to play it! i have a problem though, every time i try to place water via water bucket, it doesn't form a water block, it just vanishes. i tried creative/survival mode, game mode, and even tried using a ice block, nothing works! now i cont make a waterwheel.....
It's actually not hard at all. You just have to build your waterwheel near some water. I managed it successfully yesterday, and I don't really have a good handle on vanilla water behavior.
-Added "Hardcore Spawn" as new optional game mode (off by default). This mode is largely intended for anarchy servers where it prevents such problems as spawn-camping, players immediately returning to cause problems after they are killed, and idiocy like intentional suicides to get back to original spawn. It thus makes traps and general base defense much more effective. Despite being primarily intended for anarchy play, it can also make for an interesting single-player experience for the more hardcore amongst us as it gives much more impact to player death and encourages player construction and exploration over a wider area. Note that with Hardcore Spawn enabled, spawn build protection is automatically disabled, as it becomes irrelevant.
-Added "Hardcore Player Names" as a new SMP server option. This is largely intended for anarchy servers, where player names act as a rather unfair way of detecting a player's location without line of sight, and of immediately identifying friend or foe (which eliminates a lot of potential tension in encountering another player). It totally disables player names appearing above a player's avatar, but may be disabled in the mod's config file.
-Added new cheat/server-op command "/loc" that will display current co-ordinates within the world.
-Added new usage case for the "/time" cheat/server-op command. Entering it without parameters will return the current overworld time.
-Changed endermen from being lame and annoying, to being cool and sinister.
-Changed maps so that they won't display your location, or draw in new terrain, while you are underground or inside (you have to have open sky above you).
-Changed the Stake so that it is treated as a block when filtered by a Hopper.
-Changed Rotted Arrows so that only 4 are required to break them down in a stoked Stewing Pot, rather than 8.
-Changed the way Planters display to hopefully resolve some performance issues on lower end systems.
-Changed the way Unfired Pottery displays internally to avoid code duplication with the display of the various cooked pottery types.
-Removed option for reverse Gear Box placement as it had become redundant due to the ability to rotate Gear Boxes after placement. Also, it was no longer working properly with SMP and thus was becoming more trouble than it was worth.
Enjoy!

can someone give me ideas on how to explore with the hardcore bed feature? I need to find jungle wood but i would hate to have to dig a hole and wait for morning to come.

Can we please just go ahead.

Use a boat and explore coastlines at night. There's still a risk of getting your boat smashed by a skeleton arrow or running aground on some hard-to-see obstacle, but it's generally the safest way to explore at night.
fc you make an amazing work. and i allways loved btw more than any other mod.
but for my kind of gameplay the hardcore bed is really messing the whole game up.
will there be an option to disable it sometime soon in the config ?
id love an answer
keep up the good work

I would recommend reading the last few pages seeing as Flowerchild has answered this question several times.
is there any way to make this compatible with NEI? for the recipes mainly... and even for some first-time messing around with things
NEI requires Forge. BTW is incompatible with Forge. Flowerchild will not go out of his way for compatiblity. Therefore the only chance NEI has of being compatible is if it's creator makes a version compatible with BTW.

ok then... I'll use the good old recipe book or crafting guide...
I've been getting back into this mod after trying it out once like a year ago maybe. Then I thought it was mostly about some interesting tech tree type stuff and automation. Now though, seeing the effect of all the "hardcore" modes on the gameplay, it really does a lot more than that. I really enjoy the changes. Like the beds, for example, I never even thought of as a design flaw in the game before. But now that they're removed, and it adds another things for me to worry about managing, like making sure mobs don't end up creeping into my buildings, getting around at night, and even nudging me to provide artificial light for farms that before I just let work with the sunlight. All the other balancing changes are the same, by making things like getting water flow or eggs or whatever harder it encourages you to explore ways of using the mod's tools to make them work.
So anyway, lots of mods add complex and fun new content to the game, but not so many really try to fix/balance/expand the gameplay the way BTW does. It's obvious you've put a lot of thought into refining the sort of purposelessness of the vanilla game. So thanks for the effort Flowerchild, and hats off to you

i just found a new item. the stake... what is this ? i cant find information about it anywhere
Play around with it man, I'm sure you'll figure it out. It's still a relatively new feature, and I generally don't describe new stuff in detail before people have a chance to play around with something themselves, as I don't want to take away the thrill of discovery.
I'm sad about what happened with forge, the other modders, and you. But hey, it's not our mod, it's yours, and it's still a damn fine mod. Keep up the good work.

This is a signature. I have literally nothing to put in it.
If you're a small map maker, send me a PM and if it's good enough I'll advertise it in my sig.

How long have you been playing? I may have something to offer, I am running a server and seeking members.
Back after 3 days, and that worked. Thanks.

There's gotta be a list of all the bracket-texts this mod has had. I think my favorite was "diamond studded for steve's pleasure".
