So, if anyone cares I've made a GetSatisfaction post attempting to get Mojang's attention, and perhaps get BTW (or at least a few of the ideas here) into vanilla Minecraft at some point. Now, I'm not entirely certain this was a good move, because I can't fathom anybody but FlowerChild being at the helm of this ship.
I tried to make a quick teaser blurb. Here is the link:
ARGH, now there's windmills and im STILL on 1.5. I'm about 2 seconds away from deleting all the pistons off my map/inventory and updating to 1.6.6 just to install the new BTW. Flower, maybe you can help hippo get his act together lol.
Ive never lost a map from just removing a mod and entering it.
If your worried about it backup the world, update, install BTW, and then enter it to see if its still usable.
This...all of this...is just....wonky!

Very kind of you to say, and I have no problem at all with regards to this man. On the contrary I'm grateful for the increased exposure for the mod.
As for me losing creative control or whatever (which I think is what you are concerned about really), don't sweat it man. Frankly, I suspect I have far more experience in the game industry than Notch does, so there would definitely be some negotation involved if this were to ever happen, and I'm not a 15 year old kid with stars in his eyes that is likely to just cave to all requests
The integrity of the mod and its content *are* definitely important to me.

Definitely be careful and back-up your map though as Evolution suggests.
One other thing to keep in mind, is that while blocks in the world or the player's inventory that apply to the mod are unlikely to crash the game or anything like that, if you uninstall a mod, items in chests most certainly *will* crash the game if you try to open the chest or destroy it, so it is generally best to make sure your chests are emptied of all mod-related items before you attempt something like this (lest you wind up with a chest in your world you can never touch again and have to bury beneath Cement or something).
I suspect the above may apply to other blocks with inventories besides chests too. So potentially you'd have to empty out furnaces, dispensers, Hoppers, Cauldrons, etc. as well.
Not sure why you'd have a piston in your Cauldron, but you never know
If companion cube happens to be added to vanilla minecraft I may die from laughing. xD best silly invention ever.
Future Mojang announcement
-Update 2.1, coming soon!-
* Added a craftable companion cube.
* Fixed torches burning too long. They now burn for a full 5 minutes.
* Other features from Better than Wolves will not be added, being deemed not fantasy enough.
;P
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Better Than Wolves Mod WARNING: May cause addiction and/or skull detonation. Handle with care.
It doesn't prevent from making mob grinders with them though you may be right.
It was making sense for me as block dispenser is made out of mossy cobblestone
Yup, I hear you, and I definitely agree they could be used in mob traps, but the problem is they would WAY increase the spawn-rate within the mob-trap.
It really takes a lot of the challenge (and IMO, fun) out of building them.
If I understand correctly, the saw description and video in the first post is no longer accurate because of the addition of panels, molding, and corners. Apologies in advance if I misunderstood or misread.

Oh, thanks man! I totally forgot to update that!
Edit: Done! Thanks again! The video will stay as-is though as editing it would be a lot of work to correct a very minor innacuracy. The videos are just intended to give a brief look at how a feature works, so I think it still serves that purpose just fine.
redstone repeater don't power without delay, they can recieve and transmit from and to an single position, not the sides, i'm not sure I can do that with repeaters =/
plus you can't transmit current vertically with repeaters, you've gor to use the redstone torch again and again with other blocks inbetween, and it make them alternate on/off so you may have to use an inverter...
well, that was just an idea. ^^
Thats part of the fun of working with redstone, figuring out solutions to wiring issues.
What your suggesting is something that will simplify it to the point its almost pointless using wire.
edit: I could have placed the blocks under but I ut them on the sides to be visible
Yeah, but the logic puzzle of getting things done with redstone is a big part of the fun of it man. Just like with other stuff, I'm not keen on making things too easy.
IMO, just removing the limitations from a system is often times a mistake as those limitations are what makes the system interesting.
It's a bit of a tangent, but I've witnessed in many aspect of life that restrictions are what makes creativity possible. Remove the boundaries, and there is no need for creativity.

True to some extent, but think of it this way:
Restricted creativity- building something out of a small Lego set as a 5 year old.
Unrestricted creativity- using a computer and advanced programming knowledge to create an artistic piece of software.
I understand and respect your point of view, I just find it a shame that not everybody can make things out of redstone without spending a lot of efforts just to make simple things, the double door is a good example of it.
I disagree completely.
I look at Evolution's designs and I see a work of elegant and logical beauty.
I look at yours with the big red blocks and I think "meh. That works".
To me, this is no different than someone building a huge and impressive structure, like a bridge, by hand in the game, or someone using MCEdit and producing the same structure in 10 minutes with minimal effort.
One is a work of art, the other is an exercise in using rudimentary CAD software.
Ask yourself this: Why is the Mona Lisa considered a master-piece when any idiot with a modern camera can take a far more accurate photo of someone?
You may of noticed, that practically nothing I put in the game is easy to build or aquire. Everything comes at a price. Features of the kind you are proposing run entirely counter to my game-design philosophy, and I think that's a big part of why people are drawn to my mod, whether they realize it or not.
There are plenty of mods out there already that allow you to push the easy button man. This just isn't one of them.

That's not removing the boundaries man. That's just shifting them to new areas.
I think Notch is currently demonstrating precisely what I mean about all this. IMO, he's a perfect example of what happens to someone's creativity when the boundaries are moved too far out (in this case, by his own success).
I'm still having crashes every time I log into Minecraft, though I kept looking through and didn't find another conflict. But just a minute ago, I saw IndustrialCraft and Better Than Wolves both have fb.class. I downloaded IndustrialCraft after BTW, and it could have overwritten BTW's fb.class, causing it to not work. Do you know how to fix this?
You should add something like a spike-trap, it could spring up after stepping on a pressure plate. It could stay up for about 6 seconds and then retract. Or a sliding saw blade (like in Prince of Persia, Sand's of time) The blades go up while being powered and down while not in use.

Similar ideas were proposed in the first days of this mod. The Saw represents the successful integration of some of these concepts into the game.
You're asking for a feature that's essentially already in the mod man

Okay, but modding Minecraft so that it automatically generate a massive factory town with over 9000 mechanisms that all do different things, isn't that still creative regardless of the fact that the boundaries were expanded massively?
According to creationist belief, the universe was created by (a) god(s) with unlimited power, therefore NO boundaries at all. And you got to admit, although this world is a s***hole, if (a) god(s) created it, it is F***ING creative. Sick and f***ed up, yes, but still creative.

Its not really that hard:
Above view of mechanism:
How about a diamond-tipped saw?
Perhaps it could able to make Panels, Moldings, and Corners out of other materials as well?
Is it possible to create an automated Furnace using the available blocks in the mod?
Sure, I'm sick and ****ed up, but honestly, I feel okay about it. Besides, anyone with an opinion is sick and ****ed up, so I'm just normal.
