question for flowerchild or anyone else who knows.
is the 4.0 version for 1.3.1 or just 1.3.2 now you've already updated to 1.3.2 it wont let me download the older version to check.
I ask cause im running a 1.3.1 vanilla server and want your mod cause it's awesome.
I'm just wondering if 1. its for the version im using and 2. if so, could you unprivate the download in mediafire so i can download that older version?
Better than Wolves 4.0 is for Minecraft 1.3.2. There is no released version of Better than Wolves compatible with Minecraft 1.3.1.
Installation instructions: Install this to your minecraft.jar after installing BTW.

After picture with the pottery texture patch:
What this does: All this patch does is change the vase textures of FlowerChild's Better Than Wolves mod. It adjusts the colors of the vases to better match their wool counterparts. And it provides a bit more texture to the vases so they don't look cartoonish/cell-shaded.
Licensing: Feel free to use these modified vase textures in your own texture pack. Attribution is appreciated.
hey flowerchild i like your mods and i was very happy since you made it SMP and i installed it on my server (hosted by a website) and there comes the problem it works fine no errors but if i look at the ram what your mod need is too high
Hmmm...that's strange man. This is the first report I've gotten about anything like this. I'll put some thought into what it might be, but unless someone else reports the same problem, you might want to consider if it might be a problem on your end (another mod installed or what have you).
I feel the need to ask.. did Mojang **** up animal spawning yet again in 1.3.2? I've finally reached the point where I need a saw.. which means I need wolves. I've explored like, meters and meters of taiga and tundra and not only have I not found a single wolf, but I've noticed that after I killed all the wildlife around my home (they were in the way of progress) NOTHING has respawned there. There's like a 300 meter dead zone around my home.
I just checked and my server maxes out the 1.5 gigs as well with no one connected. When I am at home tonight I can try to compare that to what happens with the vanilla server....
My server is barely using 1.5gb with 30 people on. The cpu takes a bit of a hit about 60% of my cpu is used by the server with BTW and 30 people. But unless someone uses a fly or move hack I am not seeing an abnormal amount of RAM useage.
To give a more direct comparison, vanilla with 30 people is about 1 gb ram
Bukkit with 30 people and 10 plugins is about 1.5 GB ram.
So all in all I think its pretty reasonable. Of course this is with nothing but BTW and minecraft installed.
For the 2 with issues, are your servers dedicated, vps or shared servers? And is it on a minecraft specific host or your own personal computer or a non minecraft server host?
Ok, I downloaded BTW through the Download Link and I patched minecraft with MCPatcher. Then I test minecraft (see if it crashes) and then everything is ok... But nothing will appear in my creative world or in TMI and I try to create something nothing happens... What do I do?? Do I have to download something else in order for it to work??

Well, that had me searching to see if you had an account on the BTW forums. Feel free to register one of these days, for my own personal satisfaction.
Thank you for the invitation, sir. I'm honored that you would wish me to join your club.

And, I can't find any goddamn wolves.

The vanilla code base has changed to such a substantial extent with 1.3 that comparisons with 1.2.5 aren't really relevant.
If your tests with 1.3 yield significant results, let me know, but statements about 1.2.5 are just confusing the issue (if there is one).
Very nice man! Which of course begs the question: why aren't you on the BTW forums?
Little guilt trips and cries for attention like the above are why he doesn't like you, man. At least, that's why I don't like you.

I don't even know who he is
Eh, you've banned him twice. Clearly you didn't like him in some way.

Hehe...guess so, but given I have probably banned multiple people a day for the past year now, I really can't be expected to remember them all
