Welp, my first few games were Hardcore mode, and after dying three times in that I learned not to hardcore mode. Then I played on merely Hard mode, and learned I'd better leave my pride behind. Now I'm playing on Normal mode, and I'm on the verge of trying to set up some way to have an Easy.
To that end, I've found these four seeds (by searching the net):
1067402744098825987 (Mooshroom biome bordering Jungle; regular continent. Best bet for easy, but I hate jungle spiders.)
2475069397829075708 (Survival island; long term survival may be nigh impossible. One tree.)
3509458710647062196 (Mooshroom island chain next to a survival island chain. Only two trees, separated by a swim.)
Swordself (Desert (beware Hardcore Sinkholes!) that has THREE surface dungeons in it (not safe, but chests with wheat and a bread and cocoa powder.))
I'm going to stick with random seeds for now, but thought I'd consolidate the fruits of my websearching here in case anyone wanted to play around with 'em.

Just an FYI that most seeds should be nigh identical to those for vanilla 1.5.2. I often use existing seeds I find online when I need to test out specific biomes or what have you. The changes I make to world generation tend to modify the terrain you get from vanilla rather than change how it actually generates.
Anyways, if you're ever looking for seeds there's already a ton out there for vanilla that should also work fine with the mod.

Well, with BTW, normal mode is already beyond-vanilla hardcore. So there's no shame in that.
Im not even playing the mod, but i just wanted to mention i find it admirable your sticking to your guns on the 1.5 thing. As far as content goes, well, any single medium sized mod adds more content than will ever be added in official minecraft updates, so unless something amazing happens in the base game (100%++ performance increases, amazing AI, cubic chunks) there is really no reason to spend so much work updating. My personal use modpack is in an older version and really wouldnt benefit from forcing an upgrade either.

I know that this has changed at least somewhat after humped camel. The seed that I used regularly has changed completely (including spawn coordinates). This was a little frustrating, but now I am encouraged to explore new seeds, so every cloud and all that.

Stick with Normal mode, its what FC balances everything for. Some pwople like Hard on multiplayer but that's up to the individual.

Hard mode is unbalanced; FC let it for players who want an added challenge. Play on Normal. (Easy mode was removed AFAIK.)
If you're dying too much on Normal, check for how can you improve as a player.
I made a frightening discovery in doing so though.
(spoiler)
When the version with the relevant change for your spoiler went out,
I had two HC spawns because of those slimes. One from being zerg-rushed by a bunch of small slimes; another trying to hide myself above a stair, only to have them saying "hello, you're food!"; and a third one from a spider+slime combo.
About your temple: 28 gold bars? Nice! More than a stack of gearboxes, man.
I was using a boat today when suddenly my health disappeared and the game said I fell to my death. What's that about?
Sounds like the Kraken to me. It's like a squid, but is much more rare. I have never seen it myself, but have heard tales from other water faring crafters. They say that the water turned dark, when all of a sudden they were surrounded by it, like the darkness was coming from the fury of Triton himself. How they survived to tell the tale, I will never know, but to this day I stay away from large bodies of water
Here's an illustration of what it is said to look like, washed up on shore one evening and is now kept in the Craft-Museum.

I use a mix of Dokucraft The Saga Continues and JohnSmith, and create personalized textures for both. Some of my submissions can be found in the Dokucraft Customizer located http://www.minecraft...saga-continues/

It is caused by a bug. The boat accumulates "fall distance" to fatal levels while bobbing up and down, so make sure not to hit the land vertically. Trying to dock on slabs is the most common scenario of this death.

Ok, thanks. I was under the impression that it may have been some hardcore feature that I had no knowledge of.
Excuse me but there is a question I would like to ask you. I was reminded of it when someone brought up the topic of seeds earlier. I wish to make a BTW survival island map of sorts. Or as close as to a BTW survival island I can get anyways. The reason I am asking you this is, well I've never seen anybody make a map that requires a mod and not ask for the mod maker's permission I assume it's just a common courtesy. And secondly seeing as you like BTW played as the way the mod is intended, a survival island-esqe map I just can't play as BTW intends. I have to improvise. The seed is -2089467411 if you want to know. (Also BTW doesn't change the way terrain generates in this world at all, aside from the expected villages and dungeons and such.)

I haven't played minecraft in over 3 years, can you remind me what the siding recipe is?
It's with moulding actually, and it's just three in a horizontal line. You need a saw to make moulding or siding (with wood anyways), there's no crafting grid recipe for it.
In other words, fences aren't really available right at the start of the tech tree anymore.

Everyone is hell-bent on getting you to update this aren't they...
For some reason I can't help but laugh every time someone brings up porting this to 1.#. (Which, for some reason is like every 2-3 pages.)
The answer is no, and I can imagine it will continue to be no

For some reason I am unable to craft fences, unless the BTW wiki is outdated and the recipe has been changed.
Is this a bug or something?
The latest version changes fence crafting to use the
sidingmoulding recipe only.A mighty machine built within the wake

oh, that is going to make early game a lot harder.
I'm struggling with food, what would you suggest be the first/best method for a sustainable food source?
