I don't know what you mean by "joke", this looks pretty legitimate to me. Maybe you just haven't spent enough time crawling around the ocean depths to find it? I mean, nobody really seems to go looking down there, I bet there's all kinds of things down there nobody ever goes looking for.
Wouldn't mind a few of those myself actually- very useful indeed... I'll keep a lookout on my next clay run

I don't know if I should be posting this here, but I'm having an issue installing BTW.
It's been some time now that I've been away from Minecraft and now that I've come back to it I wanted to play my favorite mod. Problem is I can't get the thing to work. I've done everything exactly how the installation instructions say. For some reason when I load the game it doesn't load better than wolves. In fact it automatically creates a whole new version to use instead of the one I've edited (keep in mind the one I edited was the ONLY version in my folders as I've just reinstalled Minecraft.) Could use some help, or even better if someone would be willing to upload their entire folder for me to download so I didn't have to go through this. I would really appreciate it. I honestly don't see the fun in Minecraft without this mod.
Pardon FC, I'm planning on doing a let's play series at some point in the near future with a more narrative style. Before I start though, I'd like to know if I should hold off in case of the last bit of changes you'd been planning to add or if most of your energy at present is being spent on your other mods and return to home?

Hard to say man. Keep in mind I do this recreationally, so I largely let my mood determine what I work on at any given time. Am I working on the next BTW update today? No. Might I be doing so tomorrow? Sure.
I'd say to just go with the same philosophy with regards to your series and not worry about the next update
Be sure to post a link when you get your first episode going. I'd be happy to watch it, and you never know in terms of it potentially getting my creative juices going and inspiring the next release
If I remember the updates right carrots/potatoes can be found in full villages but only wheat's available in the half-destroyed farmer only villages. Could it be you're not outside the semi-abandoned village radius yet?
"I do not think that there's anything about horses, or any feature that's been released since, that brings sufficient benefit to the game to justify the work involved in updating the mod to newer versions, and/or integrating the individual features, with the one possible exception of the slime blocks." - FlowerChild. (Source)
One feature*. If he wants to do so, it's far easier to just add the feature to BTW than to port the whole mod to another version, don't you agree?
Ditto for porting for Forge. Why, if BTW is intended to be played alone (so compatibility isn't an issue) and needs no external modloader anymore? Work for the sake of work? Also, you might want to watch this video, where FC talks about Forge:
* Irony: slime blocks were based on frames... and frames were based on BTW's platforms.
** Irony 2: the video is from 2011, but "the mod was becoming more and more dependent, my work was becoming more and more dependent on what Forge was doing." describes quite well the current Forge modding scene for most modders...
but with forge you can do amazing things, just look at the colored lights mod, that probably wouldn't exist without forge, and this mod may be intended to be played alone, but so was terrafirmiacraft, as that made the game into something vastly different than vanilla, but people added it into some packs anyway, because it's their game, and they felt like it

Are you talking about this Colored Lights mod? If so: Forge has no API for that (otherwise CptSpaceToaster wouldn't make his own), so, no, porting to Forge wouldn't make easier to add stuff like that. And considering Colored Lights is mainly aesthetic while FC focuses on gameplay value, it wouldn't add anything to BTW. It's a matter of cost (work) vs. benefit (gameplay value).
Then you mentioned TFC; Bioxx and Dunk don't mind if you play TFC with other mods or in singleplayer, but the mod is still balanced to be played in a specific way - with no other mods, in multiplayer. Even a minimap detracts from the gaming experience with TFC (immersion breaking, making backtracking ore deposits trivial), let alone other mods. BTW is the same in this regard... it simply wasn't designed to be played in a modpack.
Or, if you want a silly example: playing BTW with another good mod would be as silly as trying to force both Final Fantasy VI and Dwarf Fortress into the same game. The ending result wouldn't be FF6 or DF, but far inferior to both.
The topic of BTW incompatibility and the decision to remain on 1.52 has been discussed to death guys. Pick a random page in the last 100 and chances are good you'll see this same old tired ground being covered. There's really no cause to discuss it further.
But here's a question. Why do you stay on this 'dead version'
Kacov quoted me directly above with my own explanation as to why. If you want further info, there's close to two thousand pages of history here with which you can satisfy your curiosity, and the existence of which more than amply eliminates the need for further discussion on it.
I'd guess they use whatever they used to transport source water blocks to their farms and wells
I can dig the villagers creating their farms where they find lakes, and then wastefully pouring down dirt until it's shaped the way they want... but the lava? Nah. Lava above ground is either from lavafalls (one square only) or in lava lakes (below the ground level).
Out of curiosity, I managed to saddle a pig since I found a bunch in all the mineshaft/temples I've explored, but since I lack carrots, I can't confirm whether the "Carrrot-onna-stick" is available to steer it or not. Have they been removed?
Ridden pigs have never really been an effective means of transport, and were always more of a novelty feature. I've never felt that they offered any kind of serious competition for other methods of travel, thus nerfing or removing them hasn't been something I felt was called for.
Unless there's been a change to the size of the semi-abandoned radius, I am unaware of, I think that should be enough, right?
Semi-abandoned villages should be pretty obvious from the blown out windows and lack of the more "advanced" villagers (librarians and priests). Regular villages beyond that radius have a chance of containing potatoes or carrots, but neither are required by the progression, and thus are more "bonus items" that you may find or not without any real detriment to your game. I'd recommend not specifically searching for them and treating them more in that spirit where if you happen to come across them: "bonus" if you do, but if you don't, "oh well".
Just a quick update since I'd lasted posted about starting up an LP series. For the foreseeable future I'll need to put the project on hold. I've run into a host of personal issues offline and won't have access to a quiet place in which to attempt recording until I can find a new place to live.Apologies for bringing the offline world into this, but I don't want anyone to think I just haphazardly dropped it.

I see it also comes with fireproof gearboxes.

Oceans act as a hazard rather than a desired destination in BTW. Given that strong role, they're fine as is IMO.
I don't find the water mechanics of MC to particularly well suited to underwater exploration, as they inevitably lead to a lot of cheesing out.
I think that's a steam engine, which is of course a requirement to power all the awesome that is the diamond bladed saw

On another matter... how do villagers put lava in the blacksmith building?
I'd guess they use whatever they used to transport source water blocks to their farms and wells
I'm gonna go with the idea that they built their whole town around that block of lava.
I can dig the villagers creating their farms where they find lakes, and then wastefully pouring down dirt until it's shaped the way they want... but the lava? Nah. Lava above ground is either from lavafalls (one square only) or in lava lakes (below the ground level).
