Apologies if this is intentional or has been reported before. Using iron bars as a hopper filter doesn't allow the heads to pass through. According to the wiki (which I realise is sometimes out of date with the mod being updated as often as it is) iron bars allow stackable items through and stops unstackable items. Seeing as heads are stackable, I figured this might have been an oversight?

I believe heads filter as blocks, hence why they don't pass. I know that got sorted back when they were added, so the filter behavior for them is as intended.
That actually makes them incredibly easy to sort given I don't think any of the mobs that drop heads also drop blocks of other kinds.
I hope you're caving and not mining, because the first option is far faster and entertaining.
Yup, I was just about to say the same thing. If you're finding cave exploration monotonous with all the changes I've made and the overall danger level involved, I'm not sure what to say
Don't branch mine in the early game. It's intentionally and exceedingly painful to push players towards cave exploration, which is where the real fun is at.
By the way, FC, will you make gold smelt into nuggets as well? By the time I got my diamonds (I did it today, I was never THIS satisfied to get to the nether, thank you for that amazing experience) I have like two stacks of gold ingots. I'm starting to think about building something from all the gold, because even though there are a few recipes and I might make tools of it, it's pretty much useless (especially compared to iron). I think it should smelt into nuggets just to make it as precious as the iron is.
Yeah, gold is still an outstanding design issue for me, but I don't think nuggets are the answer.
The problem is that nether mob-traps automate gold production in the late game. If I reduce gold ore to nuggets, then it effectively becomes a non resource in diamond level branch mines, which I would prefer to avoid (mining is still definitely a part of the late game). Iron (or coal for that matter), being a surface level deposit is less of a concern to me given that late-game mining tends to focus on diamond level. It's the ores that only occur down around there that I would prefer not to devalue as a result.
As is, I think it unlikely that people will just walk by gold deposits late game, but if all they gave you was nuggets, then I think that would almost certainly happen.
I think the answer lays more in increasing the value of gold rather than decreasing its abundance, and on that note, I think I just had an idea as to how to do that in a fairly natural manner

wow.... just wow. .... I can't wait to see what you have for us.(especially if it kills...)

Is there a tool for changing old worlds to the hardcore stratification?
Not yet, but I'll be releasing one in the near future. One of my hesitations here is that I'm not certain if I'm going to be staying with the system currently in place, or if I'll be changing things around to reduce/eliminate some performance problems associated with it.
You may have noticed that when I included stratification it introduced a performance drop on chunk generation, (although you might not have noticed as I don't think it's as bad as vanilla). That's what I'm hoping to take care of first as it's really chapping my bum given all the work I did to optimize things.
Cool mod but how does this relate to anything in minecraft XD
I'm not even sure what that question means, but "by continuing the design trends started by Notch but abandoned due to public whining with time" comes to mind. In many ways, BTW is "more Minecraft than Minecraft" at this stage.
But really, it is good and fun to play (just wish it could be used through modloader) but i kno ur tryin
You do realize I just intentionally removed Modloader compatibility a few versions ago right? So no, I'm not trying in that regard. Quite the opposite.
Long Story Short, i don't wet my pants to Wolves, Zombies, Hunger and the Beast anymore.
Could somebody point me to some place where i can actually be able to lo0se my mind in fear of other sentient beings longing for my death?

I am a big fan of anarchy play myself (which I believe is what you're referring to), and have actually put a fair amount of work into balancing BTW SMP for it.
Unfortunately, most of the servers that started for it (including the official server) couldn't seem to sustain the player base required to make it worthwhile.
I am only aware of one anarchy server that might still be going (and it may actually be MIA as the OP hasn't posted in awhile), which you can find here:

I'll explore a cave once i find one that isnt infested with skeltons and creepers....
Am i just having bad luck with my spawn? I have found exactly two caves that dead ended and one cave that was filled spawns at the enterace in my last 4 play throughs....
I will say that my most recent run was doing fine untill a silent creeper (audio problems on my end) killed me....
Once more into the breach i guess....
EDIT: ill record my next playthrough and maybe that will give you guy a better idea of the trouble im having....
You'll have to explore several caves to find enough resources to make your first iron tool, and possibly many more to find a cave that goes down to diamond level for your first diamonds.
Always take plenty of torches, and be prepared to die a lot.

See...I kept telling everyone that wolves are evil despicable creatures, but would anyone listen? No, of course not, and now you're all ******, so "haha...told you so".

This could be interesting... in general, the issues you're having are very common symptoms of attempting to cling to the Vanilla play-style, which you just cannot do in BTW. You need to let go of everything you thought you knew about Minecraft.

Now im just having a hard time dealing with the monotony of trying to find 18 iron ore to get a hoe (or any iron for that matter)

I hope it involves golden dung!

Wait! What am I thinking? Gold is already in high demand due to the many uses of golden dung

Go stare at an enderman. In the end.

Ok...I think we're getting close to the point where I recommend finding another (and much easier) mod.
You used to be such a nice guy. I think I've been a bad influence on you
