again though thats the way you choose to play, but it shouldnt be enforced...plus your sig shows you like to have build craft with better then wolves ....just saying
As for my signature it hasn't been updated in ages due to me tending to lurk and not log in very often. BTB was a mod "pack" (using this term very loosely) that combined two mods in one thing. It died a long time ago, and as such I just haven't had much motivation to change it till now. As for your whole "Player Choice" arguement, again I point you towards how mods are handled in other games. There is no reason to expect ANY RANDOM 2 mods to work together, ever.
EDIT:
You know what? I am not discussing this further and and will resume my lurking. These people....
I believe he means he has two different jars, and he's using MagicLauncher to switch between the two.
I don't see ModLoader mentioned anywhere. BTW requires ModLoader to run.
Also, a note: I've noticed many people like to switch between two different mod setups, but usually end up having problems.
I personally suggest using this program. While it does not ease the install process for mods, it does lessen the risk of crashing and world corruption.
Got it! Thanks!
Btw, I found that though OptiFine does not work with BTW, mcpatcher DOES (not every component, but the ones that count work fine).
Now, I know this mod doesn't play nice with other mods, but an hd fix is standard, is it not?
I use MCPatcher which works just fine, although you shouldn't install Random Mobs because it overwrites a few features including the arcane scrolls. Some details and installation instructions can be found in this thread on the BTW forums. Last I checked, optifine won't work at all now.
Been a while since I've popped into the thread, just wanted to say FC that even though we've had our disagreements in the past, I support your fight (although my sig will remain empty since my posting extent on these forums is only sporadic posts in this thread now).

Technically your sig retroactively applies to all posts youve made in the past, so if anyone happens to be reading those old posts, they'd see the sig.
Does anyone know how to get the link portion of the sig to work? the actual code prodived doesn't work (yes i pulled a Dinnerbone and copied the code directly :D)

I just copied the link to my clipboard, highlighted the image in my signature and pressed the link icon and then pasted the link into the popup.

"Not everyone who has a built a nice chair owes money to the guy that invented chairs"
As already mentioned on the BTW forums, you have my full support FC. In my opinion this kind of behaviour is at best trolling. At worst it's bullying and imperialistic thinking at its worst.
I think I'll sit down tonight and make a small start at the alchemy mod that's been floating around in my head for a while. Without Forge. I don't think I can trust an API where one of the main devs behaves like this.
I dont think theres any competition. my suggestion flowerchild would to just tell the mod maker to have a link crediting this mod for ideas. this mod has taken years to program, and I dont think they will ever catch up. once someone clicks the link to this mod from there, they wont give BWF another look. If he refuses, then I think that problem might be a legal one.
Though i do think the no mod compatability was a bit overdone. I havnt been able to play BTW since optifine became uncompatible...
Just chiming in to say that I'm with you all the way
Also, what kind of self-respecting modder/coder would do something like this? I mean, seriously, if you can't come up with ideas of your own, or can't be bothered following someone else's wishes, why would you even consider something like BWF as a viable point to expend your time and effort? Anyone with a shred of common courtesy would know that an act like this could only be seen as a cowardly, underhanded method to attack and attempt to undermine one of their API's biggest holdouts.
As Sar and other BTW Forums regulars have said, they seem to be trying to time this to maximize the potential gain for Forge. With FC essentially halting development of BTW and working on the Return to Home - which I cannot wait for - they'll try to make this series of events seem as if BWF has 'finally got FC beat'.
I'll be honest, there are several Forge mods - such as Thaumcraft, Mystcraft and TerraFirmaCraft - that I really enjoy, but actions of modders like this 'FlowerAdult' just serve to lower my opinion of the Forge community as a whole. It's quite sad really - for a community like the Minecraft modding one - to be as splintered and consumed with in-fighting as this is, seems to me to better fit a sci-fi/fantasy novel like A Song of Ice and Fire than it does the real world.

Anyway, FlowerChild, keep up the good work man

And by the way; Who is John Galt?
Hey, I still say there's credit to FC. He's making a great mod. Only problem is he's made his mistakes. Huge mistakes. Y'know, things like PURPOSEFULLY editing base classes just so other mods wouldn't work with his.
This is simply not true. he doesn't purposefully edit baseclass files to make it incompatible. However, Compatibility here does not have the kind of divine status like it has at Forge, or even pretty much any other mod out there. So, in the battle between content and compatibility, Compatibility is more likely to get the axe than content.
That this mod is designed to be standalone is a vision, not a feature. never at any point was this mod purposefully made to be incompatible with anything, however in some cases incompatibility was a nice side-effect (like with in-game minimaps, which ruin the Anarchy feel).
This mod has everything you need to play Minecraft in a nice and fun way. Whatever mod is compatible is maybe a cherry on top, but not needed.
And lastly:
Minecraft is so far the only game i've seen where Compatibility takes precendence over balance, and where having the most powerful tools and most random collection of stuff is apparently better than proper balanced content.
(IE: Skyrim has many "content pack" mods where a mod changes a certain collection of things, like weapons. Only in minecraft do we have mods which add tons of random stuff and are popular)
EDIT: as i noticed in another mod thread, apparently the highest status for a forge mod is "let Major Mod X rip you off"
Lol! Ahem. Yeah...you really understand what's going on here.
Thank you for contributing your informed opinion to the ongoing discussion of the mod.

He's a mad man with a box
Hence why i told him to read up on the issue with the 2 links he quoted. Hopefully he'll do so now.
EDIT:
On a seperate but related note, I feel like theres gonna be a wall of support banners on the thread from now on.
Got it! Thanks!
