There's really no reason to update pester when I readily and regularly provide info on what's going on. There's even a couple of upcoming new features described in there.

Thanks, I overlooked that. It's actually exactly what I was looking for. I appreciate your patience with my questions
I've been following the BTW: The life of Minecraft. thread on the Better Than Wolves forum and saw some speculation there regarding the recent PC Gamer article and its implications for the future of Minecraft. Dinnerbone posted some clarification on another thread which may be relevant to that discussion:
There's a lot of misinformation and confusion here.
We have no plans to stop updating the game itself. Ever. While this isn't "we will always be updating the game, even 500 years from now", it's absolutely not "we're gonna make the api and that's the end".
We're splitting features into separate components, or plugins. This is an architectural thing, for sanity sake. We'll keep adding onto the vanilla game as always, but those new things will *technically* be plugins. The only difference between that and being integrated deeper is that you can turn them off if you don't like them, or replace them with something else.
I hope that bodes well for the future of this mod, and I'm grateful for the effort you've made in improving the game and, at times, fixing Mojang's mistakes. I am particularly glad to see that the flickering torch flame bug will not be present in your upcoming update.

Yikes, what a mess. Looks like they've really gone overly ambitious with this mod API thing, even beyond what I had previously thought.
Thanks for the info though, I appreciate that. And yeah, that torch bug was super annoying. I'm very happy to have it fixed as well, as it was getting to me even in just testing the upcoming version
It wasn't a big deal with just a few torches around, but if you're in a well-developed base with a lot of torches, it resulted in an almost constant seizure-inducing flashing.
Sure thing. Here's hoping the rest of your updating is relatively hassle-free.
It is for the most part. I've created more work for myself in deciding to refactor a lot of my code to make version updates easier in the future, but otherwise it hasn't been too bad, and I finished that part just a few minutes ago.
I'm tackling the bugs created by the "fixes" Mojang perform for items getting stuck in blocks right now, as those effectively break the mod. After that, should be a straightforward port to the server.

Just fyi, 1.4.5 patch to fix LAN issues expected to be released Tuesday. Only expected to affect the client and not servers though. http://mojang.com/20...-5-pre-release/
Well, obviously servers probably don't have much in terms of Minecraft LAN code . . .

Yeah, I'm almost done with the 1.4.4 port, so there's no reason for me to wait for .5.
Ahh, didn't realize you were so close to being done for 1.4.4. Guess can just hope that the 1.4.5 client doesn't have major changes in classes you modify.

Yeah, as I posted in my dev-diary thread last night, I basically finished the port last night, and just didn't want to do the final round of testing and package the release while I was in a rather exhausted state
I'm just having my morning coffee now, so I'll probably take a look at a couple of outstanding bug reports to get my day started, then move right back onto getting this sucker out.
-Added the ability for blocks of Concentrated Hellfire to burn indefinitely (like Netherrack), but *in any direction* (unlike Netherrack which only burns like this to the top). This provides for much greater decorative options using fire. Let the giant flaming sword construction commence!
-Added the ability to grow sugar cane diagonally bordering on water, because I've always found it annoying that you couldn't, and I am a take-no-prisoners-certified-base-class-modifying-maniac. Fear my wrath puny sugar canes! FEAR ME!!!!
-Added recipe for chiseled stone brick. You can create it on the Anvil with 12 stone brick blocks in a rectangular pattern.
-Added internal hook to specify if blocks can burn infinitely (like netherrack). This may be useful to add-on authors.
-Added internal hook to specify if a block extinguishes fire above it (like an unpowered Hibachi). This may be useful to add-on authors.
-Added internal hook for when blocks are destroyed by fire. This may be useful to add-on authors.
-Changed the way vanilla fire renders so that it prefers a flammable side-surface to a non-flammable bottom surface. For example, if you light the base of a tree on fire, the fire will appear on the side of the tree, instead of on top of the dirt next to it.
-Changed (refactored) things internally to reduce the number of base class edits the mod requires, to facilitate future version updates.
-Changed (refactored) the way mechanical blocks work internally to simplify the code somewhat. This may be of interest to add-on authors.
-Changed the way fire works internally to make it easier to set which blocks are flammable. This may be useful to add-on authors.
-Changed (reverted) Mojang's "fix" to items getting stuck in blocks as it created more bugs than it fixed.
-Fixed problem where if a repeater was swallowed by a Block Dispenser, connected circuits would not always properly update their state.
-Fixed problem with the Block Dispenser not properly handling silverfish infested blocks.
-Fixed problem where mechanical devices could be overpowered from directions in which they didn't have an axle-input.
-Fixed vanilla bug that caused particles (especially torch flames) to flash all over the screen in an exceedingly annoying fashion.
Enjoy!

Just tried 1.4.4, I like the burning hellfire block, really gave that block some purpose.
One thing though, is that the stocked fire block actually catches fire itself, so it's no longer safe to stay next to stocked fire even though you cannot possibly step on it. Is that intended?
One suggestion: Can you make cauldron&crucible with GUI that's a bit different? Probably a different process icon for crucible(like the lava bucket icon, it's impossible to obtain anyway). They just look too similar.
And while collecting dung I suddenly remembered this http://wiki.answers....t_is_wolf_smoke
Just FYI, you can make a village mob(or just zombie) detector block or something like that.
