Please don't feed the trolls guys. We've had a rather good past few weeks where the thread has remained largely free of conflict, moderator intervention, and deleted posts.
There's no need to go in circles with any of this.
Look, what it all comes down to is that I'm providing a free service to the community with the mod. If an individual doesn't care for the way or format in which I release it, then they are free not to use it.
I make the mod for my own personal enjoyment and to share with other like minded individuals. I do it for fun. Using Forge is not fun, thus I do not use it, and if I did, it would act counter to the development of the mod as a result.
I also want to say that all arguments involving "1 mod is greater than 2" are inherently flawed in that 1 mod never equals another. There are obviously a HUGE number of people that agree with me (tens to hundreds of thousands) and who actively play BTW, so any arguments that this only appeals to some small number of die-hards is also inherently flawed.
A cohesive and balanced extension to MC which naturally flows from the base game is obviously far more important to these folks than combining a whack of only vaguely related and/or duplicated functionality into some kind of loosely connected mod pack, just like it is to me.
Compatibility with other mods, is, and will always remain, a secondary consideration to me given that.
Okay, I'm having some trouble installing this mod. (Although I've played it before and loved it, I just haven't used it recently). I'm on a mac, and if you google "better than wolves install mac" all the results are way out of date and from when this mod used forge. I installed modloader correctly, and then put all the files from MINECRAFT-JAR into the minecraft.jar folder in the bin. When I open minecraft the main menu is entirely black and white and when I do anything it crashes. I didn't know what to do with the stuff in FORGE-SRC. any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: I tried this again, and now it gets stuck on the done loading screen.

The 2 files in the FORGE-SRC folder go in the minecraft.jar as well. Hopefully that solves it.

Nope, but it crashes at a different place now. My process for installing is as follows:
Download a fresh minecraft
Use the unarchiver on minecraft.jar
Delete meta-inf
Copy the contents of the modloader folder into minecraft.jar, replace everything
Copy all but the "title" folder from MINECRAFT-JAR into minecraft.jar, replace everything
Copy splashes.txt from the "title" folder in MINECRAFT-JAR into the "title" folder in minecraft.jar, replace the original splashes.txt (this is supposed to prevent the main menu from being gray)
Copy the two files from FORGE-SRC into minecraft.jar
Run Minecraft
When I do this it crashes at the screen that says Mojang, and MCPatcher tells me that the error message is

Seems like MCPatcher can't read the zip file. Try installing it manually. Lots of installers don't like BTW.

May the Force be with you. Unless you're a troll, in which case, may the farce be with you.

Which zip file? and I thought that what I did was installing it manually. I tried to use MCPatcher originally, but battosay's tutorial was on windows, and I couldn't figure out how to do it on mac. I only used MCPatcher because I was under the impression that was a way to get minecraft to show the error messages
No...the files in FORGE-SRC go nowhere. They are only included to satisfy the Forge licensing agreement. They are not to be installed.
So with the exception of including the FORGE-SRC files, is this the correct way to install?

I made a ordinary mob farm of the captainsparkles-skyblock type that drops mobs into a water channel that pushes them up against a saw powered by a water mill. All their drops fall into an unfiltered unpowered hopper fine...
Except their xp orbs. No sign of them anywhere.
Also, when I kill a mob personaly, I still see the three little xp orbs and not the one big one.
I searched on the btw forums, wiki and this website but this problem doesn't seem to be mentioned.
There is no bug report.
I have the following mobs in order of installation:
ModLoader, Audiomod, BTW3.72, SPC, TMI, Timber!, Optifine, ReisMinimap
I used to have AdvancedMods, MoreXP and BetterEnchantments. Thinking they caused this problem, I restored from a backup I had before I installed those then transfered the save world over. Still no xp orbs.
fyi, everytime I add a mod, I create a backup copy of the entire .minecraft file. That way if I want to switch out mods or restore from a previous, I don't have to worry about what files go with what.
It seems like a good mod, but it really needs a title change. I thought this was going to improve the wolves somehow or give them armor.
Other than that. It's neat
Cheers
Not trying to be a smart ass, but it says "BETTER THAN WOLVES mod" The mod is saying this is WAY better than wolves. It is way better I really recommend this mod.
Doh.
Without optifine my lame old laptop lags to a screeching halt.
Time for plan B, I'll just go build a blaze mod xp trap.
I suggest to get a new video card and maybe a new processor. Call BestBuy's Geek Squad and they will help you. Or you can ask some one with computer skills to help you.

--- END ERROR REPORT 65135662 ----------
I use the mod "BTW (Bether than Wolves mod)" an i think it crashed with the PowerCraft.....
Can you fix that or is this a bigger prob?
These two mod complement mutually and i love both!!!!
I have first installed ModLoader and Toomanyitems an then Powercraft and it works ....
second attempt i have intalled ModLoader, Toomanyitems and BTW mod and it still works...
but if i install BTW to Powercraft or Powercraft to BTW it will crash Minecraft u.u
That's a block ID conflict. Two blocks have the same number: The Blood Wood in BTW and the Conveyor Belts in PowerCraft.
These are easy to fix, but it's also easy to make a mistake and corrupt your world. Be careful. If you feel like you don't understand what you're doing or you're afraid you might break the game, don't do this. Just pick one mod and forget about the other.
You have two options: Find the config file for Powercraft and change the block ID for conveyor belts, or find the config file for BTW and change the ID for Blood Wood.
Here's how you can change the ID for Blood Wood:
1. Make a copy of the .minecraft/saves folder just in case something goes wrong. 2. Open the BTW zip folder. 3. Select the file called "BTWConfig.txt" and copy it into .minecraft\ 4. Open it in notepad and find the line that says:
fcBloodWoodID=212 5. Change this to another number that isn't used by PC or BTW. The numbers BTW uses are in that file. If you don't know what numbers PC uses, guess. (I don't know what numbers it uses, either) But you can't use any number higher than 255. 6. Try running the game again. It probably won't work because of another conflict, so you'll need to fix that one too. Here's what you should be looking at:
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Slot 212 is already occupied by PCtr_BlockConveyor@1cb048e when adding FCBlockBloodWood@1983ad7
The red number is the Block ID that's conflicting, and the blue names are the blocks that share that number. So do steps 1-5 again to fix this error. 7. Eventually, all conflicts will be gone and the game will work.
This is an old post / problem, but I recently added PC to my Mincecraft and I use Better Than Wolves and encountered same problem. I have resolved all block ID conflicts and now the mods work perfectly together. For future players who want to add PC to their BTW Minecraft here is what I did:
1: Follow steps for installation (per their instructions) of Modloader and BTW (and TMI if you use it)
2: BEFORE installing Powercraft, open it's config file (I used Notepad++ for it) and you have to go through all the files inside and will have to change block IDs for blocks 212 thru 236. I found on my Minecraft that IDs 125-152 and 155-179 were not used. I changed 212-236 into 125-149.
3: Save the changes to the IDs and THEN install Powercraft (per it's instructions)
4: Run Minecraft with BTW and PC now happily working together.
Hope this helps anyone who wants to use both mods together.

Worked perfectly this time, thank you very much.

What about that fact?
Yeah, there'll be, like, stuff, and, like, you know, it'll be cool.
Aside from the scattered hints I put out here and there, I generally don't discuss upcoming features. There's really no point in asking.
