Holy crap, the nervous animals thing makes penning animals a pain in the ass when you're trying to do it with dirt. Was so damn happy when I found some wheat in a dungeon, then when I finally got the damn sheep to follow me home, they ran off when I tried to close the dirt "door."
Oh well, next time I'll just throw them in the pit from the top. Lazy jerks, I'm only trying to enslave you and force you to breed for my amusement out of concern for your well-being!
First of all, I love your work on MC and on the other games you have been working with. I had never seen such a good understanding of game design since the 2005 BlizzCon.
Do you intend, in the near or far future, to work on the client itself and not just the content ?
I agree the content Mojang adds has been.. pointless (when it's not plainly bad) for some years and I completely understand your decision, but as you won't profit from the technical additions and changes to the engine, I wonder if you intend to make changes under the hood to improve the basis your fantastic mod is working on.
I do believe that's worth asking since it's an entirely different field than game design which probably doesn't interest you as much. It's also probably less important to the public in the short-term but in the long-term it will increase in relevance.
Please let's not start this again. The mod will not be updating to versions of MC beyond 1.5.2. It simply will not, and that's not going to change.
Reasons why are amply and repeatedly listed in this thread for those that are interested.
Would you mind if i did an update/port to 1.8 then 1.9 ?
Reason I want to do it:
BTW is just too good to be left behind in 1.5.2
I have several ideas i wanna try with it
The logistics, I am still rather new to java so i will probably be writing the mod from scratch however if i could get src code access that would be great.
Why 1.8 cause i simply don't like 1.7 and 1.8 is easier to mod cause it has the block model capabilities.
Because it is his work, his code, his textures and his set of rule. The closest authorized thing to what you want would be rewriting some functionnalities without using his code/texture/everything and keeping it for yourself.
In fact I already reproduced some time ago the early game of BTW for 1.8 to test the new vanilla features with the well proven design of the mod and to learn things about balancing and unbalancing. But that's pointless (and forbidden) to release it to the world since a rip-off by definition has no new ideas, no new design behind it. And isn't that the essence of any good mod ?
Plus, your idea of it being "left-behind" is flawed. The mod is not abandoned. The simple fact you can still see the author updating should be enough.
By the way, I wonder why is BTW still on Minecraft Forums in 2015. I don't consider myself as smart at all but the global flow of deep stupidity and constant harass must be painful to handle.

Hehe...well put, and yes, it is at times
I leave this thread up as an entry point for players that might be new to the mod. I'm not sure if it's particularly effective in that role, and I certainly have considered just shutting it down more than once, but yeah, that was my reasoning for it.
Really, it's not too bad. Every now and then someone wanders in with a "y u no 1.7??!" and then a few others lemming onto the bandwagon with related nonsense, but it doesn't happen frequently enough to be a major nuisance. Update pestering is also against MCF rules, so often times dealing with it is as simple as just hitting the report button.

It's not nearly as bad as it used to be. There were times when you'd get a dozen pages overnight, only to have it reduced to 2 pages in the morning because the rest was -at its mildest- flaming, update pestering and outright hate.
EDIT:
to clarify, the community seem to be worse than ever (for us). Its just that this mod is now mostly left alone.
You forgot a I and a n.
As a side-note, is there a efficient way to use mystery meat as a viable source of food?
I think you could do it pretty easily once you have a steel beacon. But by that point in the game there are much better ways.

Is Flowerchild going to update this mod to 1.7.10?
No.
So your just sticking with 1.5?
Yes.
Why?
Why not?

Hey i saw your mod in a pack, it was pretty cool.
So many new features to tinker with. Some things that FlowerChild would love to make harder. Plus, more people play on 1.7.10 than 1.5.2.
I just took the Minecraft Noob test! Check out what I scored. Think you can beat me?!

Be involved in the Survival of Modding in the Post-Notch Era. Enigma + M3L + LiteLoader/API + BlazeLoader {ALL Open-Source!}
As per the OP, I don't provide permission for this kind of thing, to anyone, ever. There's really no point in asking.
May i ask y?
