I noticed that Optifine A0 gives FAR LESS performance increase compared to Optifine 1.8.x versions, especially particles which were surprisingly decreased in performance since the introduction of "particle boost" back in a certain snapshot, and Optifine seems it cant keep up on it.
Just by adding up numbers it would be one or two weeks. he is fixing the compiling errors right now and at 70% as stated in the main post. Could just as well be any day though... Code is a weird thing which sometimes seems like a hydra: you fix one error and get two others. Or so I'm told...

I just did a little bit of testing, and it seems that mobs have trouble rendering normally, but usually only at certain angles. It's hard to truly test tho, because the angles they render strangely change if I move. But its usually just like a quarter of the 360 degree range. Mobs will either become completely invisible or flicker wildly. This was not a problem in vanilla, and Optifine is currently my only mod. Dunno if this has been mentioned yet, but figured it should be known.
I am gonna wait for the next release/preview. But i know the current preview has lots of issues due to all these comments explaining glitches/bugs.
The next preview most likely has less bugs/glitches, the more you give feedback on the previews on bug/glitches the more you can help with development of the mod. So if you try the A1 preview and report bugs it would make sp614x's part easier to fixing bugs
Has anyone come up with a solution for invisi-mobs? Got blown up by a creeper last night that was not able to be seen. (Normally, I would assume he was behind me, but I could hear him, and the explosion came from in front of me). Suddenly it's a dangerous thing since I'm in the middle of a build. I was wondering if perhaps there was a setting in the shaders options, or some place similar, that might help reduce or eliminate this until it's completely fixed?
Side-note: Number of invisible mobs seems to be increasing for me. I only had 1 invisible skeleton the first few days after the alpha, and now it seems to be 3 or 4 invisible mobs for every couple day/night cycles.

Been play around with the new preview version (A1) and I must say it is a VAST improvement over A0. Dynamic lighting in shaders works, things wave properly, and even connected glass textures are working. Performance is also comparable to H3 for 1.8.9.
Great work Sphax! I'm looking forward to the official release!
I have found a bug for 'OptiFine 1.9.0 HD U A1 pre'. When you try to look at entities with the Spectral effect (The white outlining) The whole window goes black (can't even see the HUD) until you look away
Uh, you don't. It helps your computer understand the language java. No JRE, no Minecraft. Maybe you had installed as "Java 8" or something, but to the best of my knowledge it's always a runtime environment in the end. If you don't trust a complete stranger you can also look it up on wikipedia. And if you have the feeling you installed too much java (as in too many packages) uninstall the lot of them and download Java from the official homepage http://www.java.com/en/download/.

Absolutely true. Us developers refer to that one-thing-leads-to-another problem as "Yak Shaving".
Guys if you go to the optifine website another 1.9 prerelease has been aded
should i get the pre-release or wait for the full release?

Yeah, I've seen a couple others on here post that they're having the same issue occasionally, but it's wildly inconsistent.
Im bumping my question

For some reason optifine is not working with multimc. None of the new versions released within the last few days with multimc.

I need help using the built in optifine features for 1.8.9.
How do I enable better grass or add random mobs?
How can I use your mod without the java runtime environment? (I had it working last night but now it defaults to stock =S)

The latest preview, preview_OptiFine_1.9.0_HD_U_A1_pre.jar, still causes entities to glitch out when viewing item frames.
