It seems that in Optifine CTM is somewhat broken. It works the majority of the time, but it seems on blocks like rails it doesn't work at all. I have tested and tested it and have had absolutely zero luck changing the rail textures, specifically, with CTM in Optifine. I even downloaded a texture pack that confirmed to have changed rail graphics and it did nothing. To make sure it was Optifine and not CTM itself, I ran another patched client with MCPatcher CTM and my rails(with the same files) changed fine. I don't seem to have a problem replacing any other textures(like ladders or doors), only rails, and only in Optifine.
Would be great if this was fixed for the next update
I have a weird problem that I'm not sure if it is Forge related or Optifine so I'm hoping that you can help since the issue only appears when I use Optifine. The issue is that my client crashes a few minutes after joining the game. No specific in-game activity seems to cause the crash, based on my trying to find a repeatable action.
I am using MagicLauncher 1.0.0
I was using Forge build #298 and Optifine HD U B4 and all was well.
Today I updated Forge to the latest release build #303, still with Optifine HD U B4
A few minutes into the game, there is a java core dump (no minecraft crash created) and I get dump like this:

When I launch the client without MagicLauncher (which is what I use to enable Optifine) the game runs fine and there are no crashes after hours of play.
So, I'm thinking that perhaps somewhere between build #298 and #303 of Forge an incompatibility was added that breaks the client when using Optifine. Is there any additional information I can provide to help track this down?

Hmm, I had previously updated the lwjgl to the current version back when I loaded OF U B3 (as cited in the OP tips section) so there hasn't been any change there between U B3 and U B4 or Forge builds 298 and 303.
If it is a driver problem, it seems like more of a head-scratcher for me since my changes have been incremental and there has been significant play time between changes. I was running build 298 and U B4 with no issues. I updated to build 303 today and this issue occurred. The only change being the Forge version. Since the java error log doesn't say what mod caused the issue (just as you point out an issue occurring when lwjgl makes a call) a lot of trial and error narrowed it down to a binary state of working without optifine, crashing with.
So, I guess following that logic, my thinking is that Forge 4.2.5.303 stopped handling something or changed the way it handles something Optifine does and in turn makes a bad opengl call.
No but he said he will be updating when MCP is updated.
I am very happy to here it will be updating, but im not sure if i will be using it. i got it because i got low frames. When i got it frames went up. but then i treid snapshots. they lagged. so i tried linux. linux got me the same amount of frames as optifine got me on windows.
now i seem to only use snapshots, except when using tekkit of course. though i will try installing it of course
I tested this on Minecraft version 1.3.2. I tried different things, and these were my maximum results:
No Optifine = 5 FPS
Optifine Light = 10 FPS
Optifine Standard = 15 FPS
Optifine Ultra = 20+ FPS
I expected Light to have the best results, but Ultra gave me the best. It was very jumpy. Most of the time it was jumping between 20 up to 40, but sometimes it would drop to as low as 15. I love Optifine! 15+ FPS is a lot more playable than 5!

it is enabled such as antialiasing both on the highest level

When I launch the client without MagicLauncher (which is what I use to enable Optifine) the game runs fine and there are no crashes after hours of play.
So, I'm thinking that perhaps somewhere between build #298 and #303 of Forge an incompatibility was added that breaks the client when using Optifine. Is there any additional information I can provide to help track this down?
Added to TODO list.
The JVM is crashing inside a OpenGL call, looks like a driver problem.
This is very informative sir. Great description.
Hi I'm Gray and I like dinosaurs and you can find a cool YouTube channel over here: https://www.youtube.com/c/jeremy974gaming

I have the mod and there is a shining light in the game and on the map is a Skull and crossbones
Is it a part of the mod
And even though the darkness dawns... Brighter days will follow!
Maybe change to #305
Both me
