I'm a huge fan of your mod, and I was pleased to see a preview of the 1.3 version on Twitter, and that you are actually updating your mod to 1.3 unlike other people.
However, I went to the download and it showed me this: http://img839.images...1305/pic2no.png
Nothing happens, I tried to refresh and everything, i've waited for over an hour. So yeah, can you fix this or upload the file elsewhere? Thanks.
OptiFine is designed so that most features are configurable with options and when the option is set to OFF, then this feature should have ZERO effect on the performance.
So If AA, AF are OFF and Chunk Loading is Default, then the Ultra edition should be 100% identical to OptiFine Standard.
Setting profiles will probably be added in the not-so distant future.
Thanks for the quick reply
Also, just thought of a new question.
These supposed 'performance enhancements' in 1.3.1, do they stack with Optifine's, or does Optifine already use whatever Mojang did to increase performance?
I was wondering whether there was a way to get Smooth and Standard, but not Multi-Core, because that would rock. Also would somebody please explain the benefits if AA and AF?
I will give an official opinion on OptiFine in a bit.
My problem was that I wasn't able to load worlds and that when they did it was laggy. I thought it was a problem with OptiFine1.3.1 preview: WRONG.
I HAD been using Magic Launcher. I tried one last thing before I stopped playing Minecraft till' the full OptiFine update was out: I modded Minecraft with the OptiFine Mod MANUALLY and it works like a charm.
I'll post again since this thread goes very fast and the search function is junk
using the 1.3.1 preview, everything works fine, runs noticeably better and smoother
the problem I keep having is that sometimes mobs will be missing parts of their model, such as limbs, head, face, or entire body. every time it is something else - sometimes sheep will have no faces, but I start again and they are fine, but chickens are headless.
it's not game breaking, but it has shown up when I have used this mod before

I had the same problem crop up in 1.2.5 using anything but standard with the exception of Mo Creatures, the turtles always seemed to only have 2 legs no matter what I did. Not sure what causes it and not seeing that happen with vanilla creatures.
Hi guys, I've just recently started modding my minecraft and have come across this mod which I've got to say, have come to realise I can't play without it. I used it in 1.2.5 but I never really knew which version to use because I'm not too well versed in computer knowledge.
So my question is, which version would best run on my laptop? I use a 13-inch Macbook Pro to play minecraft. The specs are:
If you're not sure. Just go with standard. If you want to try even faster, try smooth, if your laptop has multi cores, try multi core. Whichever one works best for you. But if you wanna just do it safe. Use the standard or lite version.
I'm using the 1.3.1 preview version. Every setting is at its tested and proven optimum. Everything is great... until I break or place something. Then I get a brief and horrendous lag spike, usually resulting in me placing things twice.
Okay, I downloaded the 1.3.1 preview version, and I can confirm that it does not do its job. If anything, it causes performance loss rather than increasing it. Without any mods installed, Minecraft runs at a constant 60 fps at Far render distance, all options turned up to max. However, with A1 Ultra installed, within 30 seconds, I get the Lag Spike of Death. Looking at the memory in the F3 menu shows that around 80% the memory gets flushed, which is when the lag spike happens.
It doesn't even flush very efficiently... no more than 10% every time, and every time it does, the 80% memory limit is reached even faster, causing increasingly frequent lag spikes which eventually results in Minecraft freezing up and me having to kill its process.
And yes, I did try decreasing the allocated memory to 256 MB, but even that doesn't work, if anything, it causes the threshold at which Minecraft lags to be reached even faster.
I know this isn't (entirely) a system issue, like I said, I can run Minecraft at 60 fps at max settings no problem (I mainly use Optifine for its graphical improvements).
All previous versions of Optifine worked beautifully, but this one seems, well, less than optimized. I'd blame it on the general rush sp614 was in to get this version out to the public. For now, I must run vanilla Minecraft, which isn't a massive deal, but it'd be great if this mod could be fixed ASAP, as I also use it for HD texture packs.
On a better note, I found a temporary fix for "AA + AF + Multicore not rendering the world": Installing the latest version of Modloader via Magic Launcher seems to do the trick. It's worth noting, however, that the launcher displays Optifine as having "1 error" whenever Modloader is loaded. If I had to guess, something got screwed up in the manual merge and/or compiling process which makes it so that AA + AF + Multicore doesn't work, Modloader fixes this somehow, but it's marked as an error within the launcher. Just a guess.
The lag spike of death from the memory clean up is more due to Java, perhaps it's the fact your also trying a higher resolution texture pack? What java does, is, as long as you have enough RAM for it to eat into (i.e. 1 Gig for default or more for the higher res packs), clean your memory only when things assigned to memory reach a certain threshold, then Java does a crap job at cleaning your memory for you so that it can refill it with its junk, this is why your experiencing the lag spike, though if you already used high res packs through MC Patcher in the wait for the Optifine update and you didn't experience that issue at that point, then I would say you're right. Though I haven't experienced such issues :/
I've had no such issues with HD Texture packs in the past, even with with only 1 Gig of RAM allocated in the past. Besides, the LSOD happens even with the default pack, and all other updated mods work great, so I am forced to assume that this is an Optifine issue, not an actual memory issue.
For now I'll have to use the regular HD Texture Patcher and deal with the lack of AA + AF until this mod gets updated.
I'm running Optifine Ultra on 1.3.1 and everything seems to work except for connected textures. It worked when I was using Standard on 1.2.5, so I assume it's a bug.
sp614x for 1.3 could you make a version that only boost performance? In Mcpatcher their is a random textures mod that is part of the connected textures mod, and it conflicts with Optifine's CTM mod. If you could it would be much appreciated

Feel free to post it anywhere, just kindly have it link over to Optifine =D
Since I already had them uploaded, if anybody wants to see here are AA differences with Optifine:

Conclusion... Optifine is freaking awesome
Sweet, I'm gonna use this
Faithful 32 Pack. I was using the same pack before I upgraded.
If I may ask, What Texture Pack are you using?
