There was no log, it just was a blackscreen after log in, I had to close it because it sat there doing nothing for so long.
Also, I have patched the game with MCPatcher, so I don't know if there's an incompatibility.

The Smooth and Multi-Core editions put more load on the graphics driver which may or may not be able to handle it (it is hard to describe it in another way without getting too technical).
I am testing with two nVidia and one ATI graphics card which are working fine, but there are certainly some drivers which may have problems.
Currently using an ATI 6870 with Catalyst 12.4 drivers on Windows 7 64-bit. That's pretty norm for the ATI side of things. I can't see why I'd have problems and you would not, unless the architecture on the cards was radically different.
Guys not to bother you or anything, But I just can't seem to fix this problem that I have.
I have updated my graphics drivers and I am running windows 7 x64 bit
My graphic card is GeForce GTX 560 version 301.42
When i start playing it lags extreamly.
And the console turns into an endless loop:

im using the latest version of Forge and OptiFine
Using the HD_C3 Standard, whenever I use a HD texturepack and Buildcraft the textures for Oil and Fuel are solid colours and the console spams this output continually (making it impossible to try and figure out anything else going on without changing to a TP without BC textures)

Despite being told to move to a desktop pc, this is running on a laptop with an integrated Intel graphics card. Also running with latest LWJGL in place of the one that ships with MC, on ArchLinux i686.
Also can I ask, are there still issues running Smooth and MultiCore on Linux? I understand that was the case a while back, but I didn't want to try either and break something again.

Start with a clean minecraft.jar. No mods installed, not patched with MCPatcher.
Either use the MagicLauncher (much easier), or install manually and do not forget to remove META-INF.

The OptiFine HD C3 has a small bug and is not fully compatible with Forge #138, it is still compatible with Forge #120. To be fixed soon.
What about my problem in the above post?

Since I'm using the reference 12.4 catalyst drivers, there isn't any chance of a "tweaked" driver causing the problems.

My bad
I am soooooo used to reading complaints that everything looks like an error report.
In fact the HD_C3 has a small bug and is only compatible with Forge #120, to be fixed soon.
OptiFine has to be installed LAST, after Forge.
The bugfix is available in HD_C3, it should work correctly now.

But it works without crashing with like a boost from 5 fps to like 25 fps.
