With far load + far view enabled I will get non-stop lag after 15 minutes of world loading. FPS starts at 60 and will slowly drop to 5-6 over the course of those 15 minutes. It takes my java.exe to 2GB or so and then lag will start up (500mb+ free still). Is this just a bug with the engine or do I need to increase my ram? Anyone with similar or better specs notice a difference?
Please note if I disable "far load" it will stop but I am more curious as to what I could do to have both enabled.
Thank you very much.
As the option itself says:
"Far view is very resource demanding! 3x view distance => 9x chunks to be loaded => FPS/9"
also load far just makes all the chunks be rendered as if in Far render distance. so with far view and load far on, you are seeing 512 blocks in front of you.
in other words. Your FPS will be divided by 9 with this option on, no matter which computer you are using. and even more so with load far
Sp, you seem to understand the rendering process better than most, so I have a quandary that you might be able to solve.
I have two Super Flat mode worlds that I have projects in ... that I can no longer use. It will start to load in all the textures and the instant gameplay starts, it crashes out. The crash seems to be related to a texture file or two (or three, once it crashed while loading a mob texture). I have never had compatibility issues running modloader, SPC, CJB's mod pack and optifine together in the entire time I've been using them ... but it crashes on the following two textures each and every time, settings depending: CJBMenu.png and the glint texture.
In each world, I shut down inside a darkened area, with local light sources nearby - or particles (no, shutting down the particles did not help).
All other worlds are unaffected by this crash.
Thoughts?
I would dearly love to have this fixed as I wish to complete these projects.
I was wondering if anyone has looked into the chicken lag spike problem? I'll try and put up some screenshots for it.
...
It happens every time I leave the area but not when I return. I tested with just 6 chickens and I get those spikes.

EDIT: Ok I figured this out. So easy. You have to drag and drop the files into the 7-zip window. I feel like an idiot :smile.gif: Hope this will help someone else. I think Page 1 instruction should say: "copy (drag and drop) the files"
------------------
I am sad because I can't install this. Can someone explain step 5 more specifically?
Here is what is on page 1 of this thread:
Windows/Linux Instructions:
1) Locate ... <snip>
2) Create a backup of minecraft.jar
3) Open minecraft.jar in an archive editor (WinRar/7-Zip/etc)
4) Delete the META-INF folder.
5) Copy the .class files from the downloaded zip file into the jar file, replacing previous files.
6) Run Minecraft and test!
I cannot do Step 5. How do you do this? I have 7-zip open and the minecraft.jar file open in 7-zip. How do I "copy" the files? In 7-zip the Copy button does not copy into a .jar, only to a file location (no way to copy into a .jar using 7-zip that I can see. I cannot figure out how to copy the.claa files of Optifine into the minecraft.jar. Maybe 7-zip doesn't let you do this and you need another program?
Thank you so much to anyone who can help.
You have the .zip open and the .jar open, so you just drag-and-drop. If it doesn't work, try opening the .zip with 7Zip as well. (It makes 7Zip happy when you use it for everything.)

The line and texture varies, but the line just after the texture remains the same each and every time.
I have had it do this on Glint, and the cavespider textures on occasion as well (settings depending.).
Nice mod, much better than mcpatcher, lots more options and control. Now some more things to add to make this great: dynamic shading, reflective water, wind effects. :biggrin.gif: It would be nice if all these graphic options stuff were in one mod and this seems the best mod for that.
Fine, but read the OP, which states that they are compatible, as the code of Modloader is included in the OptiFine .class, therefore installing OptiFine after Modloader means full functionality for both mods.
Ok, but for some reason I was getting black screen earlier and now it isn't.
I am just saying, I downloaded Optifine to increase my FPS from 50 to at least 70 or higher but it lowered my fps even at the lowest settings. It is probably my graphics card. ATI Radeon HD PRO 2600

Hate to be a douche, but the newest version of Optifine is terrible... 1.0 MC on my PoS laptop, 76FPS, 1.1 MC on my much more powerful desktop with same options(max fps, fast setting), 12 fps... I think MC without Optifine may run better... LSoD seems to still be there, extrememly high spikes in the bar things in F3... this is kinda sad... Running 1.1_HD_A4. System Specs:
If you fly around for a bit in creative mode, eventually you will come across an invisible chunk section in the world. NOT A FLICKER! If you fly far away and then go back, that area may or may not still be invisible. Re-loading the world usually fixes it.
I have had this happen when trying each of the Smooth, MT, and AA editions (one at a time of course). It doesn't happen in the same spot each time and I do have my threaded optimization setting disabled by setting it to off.
I don't know if it could be related to Magic Launcher somehow but I have been using Magic Launcher each time this has happened. I haven't yet tested it while running Minecraft directly with OptiFine installed directly into the minecraft.jar file.
Again, this is NOT a flicker and I do have my threaded optimization setting disabled. And, it happens in at least each of the Smooth, MT, and AA editions.
mc keeps crashing when i try to play on servers with this installed

There once was a wise man out with tnt. the creepers swarmed in with numbers unseen. he placed it and armed it with his trusty redstone. now, to this day, creepers leave steve alone.

Looks like you are running vanilla.
Error messages, log?
You can use the Magic Launcher to run minecraft, just like with the normal launcher (minecraft.exe).
You have the .zip open and the .jar open, so you just drag-and-drop. If it doesn't work, try opening the .zip with 7Zip as well. (It makes 7Zip happy when you use it for everything.)

No, there is a class in OptiFine and ModLoader called uc.class.
Ok, but for some reason I was getting black screen earlier and now it isn't.
Not running vanilla, those are old pics when I had MC 1.8.1 with Optifine and LB Photo Realism and I still get them. Please try it out for yourself.

This shouldn't run so bad, expecially since my laptop runs it better with less processing and graphics power.
