4. Lauch Minecraft with less memory (yes, really). It needs maximum 256 MB and runs fine on all settings with the default texture pack. By default java allocates insane amounts of memory (1GB?) which then gets swapped to disk and the overall performance suffers a lot. I use a custom launcher to do this, here is the CMD file:
I've been told by a few sources that starting minecraft with anything less than the default 1g will cause the launcher to relaunch itself with the 1g max.

Just your friendly, neighborhood /r/Minecraft mod.

No ****. That's the whole point of assigning it 1G or 2G of memory. He claimed it would run with only 256MB of memory, and it didn't. That's my point.

My current Minecraft session:
Java has allocated 164MB and really uses 66% of them (108MB). All setting on max, except SmoothLightning (makes no difference). Running fullscreen also does not make a difference. Java is 32bit.
This is only with OptiFog + Optimine installed. With more mods Minecraft might need more memory.
I'm using Optifog + Optimine for 1.6.6 and I get about 89 FPS, then randomly drop to like 5-30 and spike badly, I dunno what causes it, I thought it was the sunrise, sunset, but it's not. It just happens when I'm randomly walking around, it happens if I stand in one spot for too long though I know that much.
1.6.6 is working great for my computer! Thanks for the hard work man!

I cant get it to work with modloader....it seems both use the kr.class.
Also i only installed modloader and this mod to make sure it wasnt my other mods...

optifog/optimine should work fine if it's installed AFTER modloader
with optifog 40 - 70 fps
this is so much better now.

Give it more memory.

You people broke the Internet.
here's a screenshot of what I mean:
This is modloader compatible
open task manager, find javaw.exe right click set priority.
limit framerate is in the video options in the minecraft client after installing optifog.
Limit framerate is built into the game (before installing optifog), though optifog enhances it.

I don't see javaw.exe. I see jucheck.exe and jusched.exe though. Under processes right?

Delete the kr.class off modloader

DON'T DELETE THE KR.CLASS!!!!!
Why not...? It worked o_o
client has to be running before you change its priority.
