Hello, I have been having a problem and seeing as in you are rather good coders, any idea what would cause my minecraft to sudden have huge lag spurts that make the game unplayable for about a minute and keeps re-occuring? I have tried reinstalling java, have used fresh jars and .minecrafts to no avail. I also have the latest drivers for my graphics card.
Pc specs:
Core 2 Duo @ 3Ghz
3 Gb DDR2 ram
GT430
i can easily run far and fancy very smoothly with vanilla or optifine'd clients. I would just like to know if there is anything i can do to stop this sudden lag and if anyone else is experiencing this problem. Thanks for reading and have a nice day. Any help is appreciated.
I installed the MT version and I managed to run minecraft. In other words, Minecraft did not crash or anything. Does that mean MT is the version for me to go?
I have a system with an i7, 9 gigs of ram, and dual gtx460. It doesn't need optifine for fps, but I do enjoy some of the features it offers such as extra far view and disabling fog.
When using optifine the vines growing on trees will shimmer or blink as I move towards them (while flying). Has anyone else experienced this and found a way to fix it?

I dont know about the vines, but when I am a certain distance away from ladders or redstone, they like shimmer as you say.
Anyone else having issues with lagspikes appearing often when opening/closing doors/hatches/gates? I get these lagspikes sometimes when removing/adding blocks as well. A pain when for example harvesting wheat or in a cave placing torches..
I tested with MT and with vanilla Minecraft but in the vanilla these lagspikes does not stand out due to the overall low and stuttering FPS.
I believe Optifine works fine with smp. It is all clientside work, so it should run fine on SMP. If the server has mods that conflict with modloader and optifine, then any clients with those mods would experience problems. Vanilla servers however haven't had problems with my modded client. Also, if I didn't say it before, I think you guys should work with http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/120261-v100-glsl-shaders-dof-bump-mapping-waving-wheat-and-more/ so we can have smooth, neato-frito graphics along with our optifine efficiency :smile.gif:
I also get those lagspikes.
And I usually hang around 120 FPS (intel i7).
But one thing that I noticed about that bug is:
When I open/close a door that is lagging by hand: it lags.
But when I do so by redstone it doesn't.
On low end setups this leads to placing two blocks at once, or opening and closing the door at once, or opening closing and then opening he door at once.
On higher end setups I hear a sound of the door opening interrupted by the sound of the door closing but the door remains open.
One thing I noticed with this placing/removing lagg behavior:
- placing a block sometimes shows the shadow of the placed block followed by the block itself
- same for removing the block, removal of the block shadow and the block itself seem separate
- when removing the block I sometimes see through the ground (I see caves) for a fraction of a second
- Combining this with server / block lagg makes things worse.

Um... for some reason or another, Minecraft decides to error out and crash whenever I try and load a world or join a server. I would post the error here but it shows up too fast for me to copypasta it. If I find it in the logs I will provide it.

Is it possible for you to mimic MCPatcher's function of being able to animate any texture tile? That would be greatly appreciated, as I would be able to use Summerfields' waving grass and sparkling diamond textures.
Quote from the MCPatcher changelog:
10/16 2.2.0 release:
Balthichou's RandomMobs mod
Fixed enchantment table font
Fixed font width calculations and allowed texture packs to override widths if desired.
Properly refresh enchantment table font when switching packs.
Animate any tile in terrain.png or items.png by creating custom_terrain_###.png / custom_item_###.png.
If you decide not to, I would like a simple explanation as I would like to know. For example, I would understand if animated textures would cause large rewrites, lag, etc.

Every time that someone on the support forums doesn't say anything after I tell them a possible solution, I assume that they are having too much fun enjoying their fixed Minecraft to reply.
One thing I noticed while using Optifine (any version) is that, every time I go into Minecraft, the fog setting is default set to far, instead of being left off to my selection. Why is this?

Ah, thank you. Clear and concise explanation.
Repped.
Ofcourse it works in SMP. This has nothing to do with OptiFine, it's something else.
- The Cubic Chunks Mod is back! Be a part of it's rebirth and Development.
-- Robinton's Mods: [ Mirror ] for some of his Mods incl Cubic Chunks Mod, due to DropBox broken links.
- Dungeon Generator for the Open Cubic Chunks Mod
- QuickSAVE-QuickLOAD for the Open Cubic Chunks Mod

It worked on a 256 height world, but I think I might have had different settings (in Optifine).
It does for me, yes. I switched to Fishtaco's height mod, btw.. less laggy and more options.

However, the 1.0.0 MultiThread doesn't work on my computer.
