Quick question, it says update for 1.8 is underway, does this mean it won't work for 1.8 versions of the game?
I'm no good with mods, but i get HORRIBLE FPS on minecraft, and just want to see if this will help me, I have version 1.8.1, and was wondering if i should bother downloading it right now, or wait until 1.8 mod is done?
Trying to use Optifine 1.7.3 for minecraft 1.8.1 would just result in a crash due to version imcompatibility, best to wait until it is updated for 1.8.1.
honestly i don't get any lag on 1.9 pre (1.7 ghz processor and 1gb ram running win 7 ultimate on a 4 year old toshiba satellite laptop LOL, but i am a master of optimization :tongue.gif:)
but it's nice to have lots of options, and i love all the micromanaging i can do with it...
Oh wow! please help me! I have a toshiba satellite 3Gb of ram with Win7 Professional, if you could help me get no lag it would be much appreciated. So far I'm using Game Booster and do regular defrags, but still minecraft runs at 15-20 fps

I was running Minecraft at 14-20 average FPS
with the Lag spike fix i get 18-30 FPS
I don't really need optifine, I think that 20 FPS is smooth enough for me!
but I hope for the others that Optifine will be finished in the next days (or hopefully hours)
lol im running at 90+FPS with my mods but i still need Opti Fog because thats not fast enough for me :tongue.gif:
Why is it that this misconception keeps coming back around? The human brain (and the eye for that matter) don't perceive in terms of 'Frames' at all! There's no on/off! It's an analog system! The brain picks out DETAILS! Things like edges and contrast, NOT entire frames, much less any number at a given time!
P.S. and before you ask; Yes, I DO understand, in detail, this concept. back in high school we had to do a double blind study as an assignment in science class. My team, being made up of my buds and I, and all being pretty geeky, chose this particular subject as ours. The subject fascinated me, and I later went on to do a LOT of independent research, as is my preferred modus operandi. (BTW, it's DAMN hard to set up a DB study around a topic like that!)
It's true, some people can't tell the difference between 60fps and 600. But some people CAN.
