Your eyes can't even process more than 60FPS, so why do you need more when you're already double the limit?
This isn't necessarily true; different people can see different refresh rates.
However, Optifine has a vsync feature, which limits the fps to 60, and frankly looks BETTER than a higher framerate on a monitor that can't go above 60 anyway, because it eliminates tearing.

That isn't exactly true either. Frames in a video game are actually just a series of pictures flashing to the next picture in line. Our eyes don't see in frames, though. Our eyes actually pick up the difference between contrast and overall brightness. This being said, in between what looks like a perfectly smooth video game sequence is actually tiny breaks in the footage. This allows our brain to create a smooth picture, since our brain takes stutters in the contrast to brightness and smooths it out, so we can actually understand it.
TL;DR - We don't see in FPS. Our eyes see everything, then the brain turns it into pictures we can understand.

True true true, this is all very true. But, (and this is a big "but") even if your eyes can detect the differences between 60fps and 120fps it doesnt mean anything if your monitor refresh rate is 60hz (which is the standard, altho newer monitors have higher refresh rates). If your monitor is like mine, and works at 60hz mode (actually 59 but whatev) then any FPS above 60 will be a "waste" as your screen can't even refresh that fast (60hz = 60 times a second = 60fps for all you knuckleheads and mouthbreaters out there). So back to the original comment, if your getting 129fps, and you have a 60hz monitor, getting an additional 20fps wont make a difference with anything, as your monitor is the weakest link (not your eyes).
TLDR: Monitor refresh should be your concern, not your eyeballs, when it comes to high frame rates.
hello guys. this is my first post and i created this account just for this, cause I want to play minecraft but I can't, I need this mod. I came here to help,I found a video that few people have seen it, here is the link:
It's about how to set up MCP for minecraft Beta 1.8.1. I don't understand about programming and I don't even know what's MCp and what it is for, but I want this mod so please, watch the video, the guy might be not trolling. :smile.gif:
maybe he needs to compensate something tiny with huge fps :tongue.gif:
also for me personally I already stop noticing the fps at 50, below 50 I can slightly notice it sometimes that it's below 50 but above it's all the same, aside the tearing which is why I always use VSync so I don't get the whole point of e-peen rape fps need anyways. It must be compensation for something small XD
Also I was wondering about something: why do the people that get < 10 fps with vanilla post that here? Why don't you write that to the MC Support ([email protected]) that vanilla gives you such bad fps that you need performance mods to get it to a playable level at all?
Maybe not enough people tell them that they have such a crappy performance which could make them think there aren't enough with that problem so they don't need to give it a high priority.
PS: I don't care if the support get's spammed now, it's not my fault they don't take this mod into vanilla :3
Honestly most people who need this mod don't have computers normally capable of gaming in the first place (ex: integrated graphics).
yeah without Optifine my laptop runs at like 8-25 fps, and with it i can go from like 30-90 (even 90!) so yea i really want this to update, cuz i HATE lag spikes of death and the unplayableness of minecraft without it.
Gee, you sure are literate and capable of complete thoughts and reasonable amounts of logic.
Just because you're such a wise and intellectual soul Notch is going to reprogram his game so that people with incapable graphics cards can run it. Hell, while we're at it, lets make Crysis 2 playable on early 90's laptops shall we?
Here needs to reprogram the game? As long as he gets permission from the creator of this mod, he can just copy off of it when it updates.
Second off, maybe some people like me can't get a new computer? Not everybody can get one. Maybe we want to save money, perhaps?
Not really, here are a few that have gaming hardware and still get horrible fps.
But it's good for both anyways, getting rid of the lag and giving a bit more fps, I got it for the first since my fps are most times ok, it's just the lag that ruins everything. Even more in 1.8 : /
Ironic, I hoped for 1.8 having better vanilla performance and it has worse xD well atleast it seems to manage the memory better now after that leak got fixed from the pr.
Maybe I should hope nexttime it gets worse, maybe it gets better then ^^
The point was, the mod is good and all, but people with non-gaming computers asking for a game to be altered so that they can play it seems rather pointless to me. Especially since there are only two developers and only one of them seems to have any real common sense when it comes to development.

I can't get a new computer either. Just because not everyone can afford a new one doesn't mean that the entire game should be reprogrammed so that people with hardware from the early 2000's can play it.
I don't want the whole entire game reprogrammed, I just want this mod to be updated so I can actually play Minecraft.
Don't even say "GET A BETTER COMPUTER HURRDURR" because I'm not. I don't have all the money in the world right in front of me. I just want to play this great game.
Its not just computers from the early 2000's stop being so silly. I recently got a new dell and its impossible to play this game or some models. i get around 19 fps and its frustrating that such a simple looking game takes its toll. thats why this mod is just great.

Look, I'm not saying people should go buy better computers, I'm saying that people who can't shouldn't feel entitled to the same things people who spend money on hardware are. I don't want all the poor people to go kill themselves or whatever, I just find the concept of "hurr durr if your fps is bad whine to mojang to make it better hurr durr," which was the poster I was originally replying to, to be rather stupid when most people who require this mod, as I stated, don't have hardware that you would generally expect to be able to run a game with.

yes and you dont need it unless you want to make minecraft look better

Same here. I get like 4 fps without it, 20-27 with
No, MCP has not been updated. Try reading.

The MCP is made by whom?
