I am having a problem where the world is sometimes not rendered except for fires, mobs, etc. This only seems to happen after a long minecart ride (hundreds of blocks long). It is completely reproducible and happens in both the regular world and the nether. I have no other mods installed.
EDIT: I've just replicated it without the minecarts, I just need to walk continuously in one direction. If I adjust any video setting, everything is redrawn properly.

I noticed this as well, especially when I messed with the preloaded chunks setting.

This is a known bug, it may happen when PreloadedChunks is set. Should be fixed in next version.
I'm using an ATi card and I think I had troubles with the mip-mapping version for 1.4_01 and it seems the new version includes it, correct? I'm having troubles with the 1.5_01 version. Is there any way you could release a non-mip-mapping version for us ATi users? I really did like the mod when it worked for 1.4_01 for me. :sad.gif:
EDIT: Oh, it's not working with the HD Texture Fix must be the problem. Just tried a clean .jar and it worked, however I can't stand the default texture pack. D:

Also, I somehow noticed extreme fps improvement at first :biggrin.gif: (got up to 70-110). But now whenever I open minecraft, my fps is the same as the number of blocks thats being updated (which never goes about 40ish for some reason =/). I use the settings mentioned that would be the best fps-wise. Thanks :3!!!
hey when i installed this mod all it did was crash my game after the logo. please update to fix that. i installed it perfictly. so idk what could be wrng
None of the download links work. I click it, it takes me immediately to some insurance advertisement and does nothing. I don't have any ad blockers on or anything.

"Preloaded Chunks" - the given number of chunks are loaded additionaly. When moving inside these chunks no new will be loaded. By default MC loads new chunks after every 4m walked. With PreloadedChunks=4, new chunks will be loaded after 4 * 16 = 64m walked. It works like a "No chunk load" zone, which minimizes lag spikes but needs more time to load the map.
"Load Far" - world chunks are always loaded at distance Far, independant of render distance. The fog switching is immediate as no chunks reload is needed.
Mipmaps does not seem to affect the FPS at all as the MC textures are quite small. However level 4 should be fastest. Higher mipmap levels give less flickering of distant objects, but detail may disappear.

I am going to start figuring out if there are any incompatibilities now and edit when I find something. But maybe somebody else already knows what's causing this, so I posted here.

I found the cullprit(s)
"Pistons" as well as "Arrow Mod" cause incompatibilities. Could this be because both of them use custom textures? because I checked the Modoader text file and the "override all textures" seemed t be where everything went wrong. The other mods don't use any custom textures.
If it is really about the custom textures it would be super awesome if you could find a way around this. As I would like to keep at least the pistons & was also thinking of maybe downloading "Buildcraft" and other mods.
I'm only getting about... you know, like 150-250 FPS NOW HOLY CRAP MAN THANKS A BUNCH. lulz :3 thanks for the great mod, getting epic fps on far/fancy render distance, great work, Notch should really implement this :biggrin.gif:

I was running Optimine, a little testing reveals that this mod did break my SMP FPS. Other than that, clean .jar.
