To clarify, Optifine is not available for 1.16 because 1.16 has not been released yet. Optifine has never been available for snapshots or pre-release versions (to my knowledge).
It's a safe bet that he will not begin working on 1.16 until 1.15 is completed though.
"As everyone is wondering, the plan for 1.16 so far is:
- wait until MC 1.16 is out - 23.06
- wait until MCPConfig for 1.16 is out - it may not take long as MCPConfig already has mappings for RC-1
- until then all significant 1.15.2 bugs should be fixed more or less, so 1.15.2 could be released (without AA/AF and RR)
- switch development to 1.16
- 1.15.2 would then be updated from time to time with backported features/fixes from 1.16"

I'm having problems installing. When I go to open the .jar file (1.14.4), nothing happens. A window seems to appear for a split-second and then disappears. Then nothing. Ideas?
Hmmmm....did you install and play the 1.14.4 MC version first? and then try to install Optifine so it would find the correct path...?! perhaps...?
I did. I didn't play long, but I poked around a map for a bit.
It never asked me for a path or anything. The optifine .jar file is in my downloads folder. I double clicked, and then... nothing.
Maybe an issue with Java? I just downloaded/installed it. I set the .jar to open with "Java(TM) Platform SE binary". Is that the right java .exe to use? I don't know.
Hi, is that possible to make custom item/block/entity textures for other mods ? I want to make a mod armor texture depending of it name, but it don't work.
If I can, where have I to put my optifine folder on my resourcepack, and have I to say the entire item id (for example thermalexpansion:wrench) in my properties files ?

Hope that optifine could be made to work with fabric w/o the optifabric. Allot of people use other mods like voxel map / replay and w/o optifine people including large youtubers "Hermitcraft" may be hurting. It would suck to have videos recorded at 15 fps if optifine cannot function with replay.
I agree that native Fabric support would be very nice, but Optifabric has been picked up by another author and it's working just fine for me with the latest 1.16.2 release of Optifine.
Anybody know how to get the better skies working for dimensions added by mods (twilight forest, for example)?
The documentation (on GitHub) says this:
"Place the file at ~/sky/world0/sky0.properties ~/sky/world0/sky1.properties ... etc."
and this:
"NOTE: The "world0" in the path refers to the overworld. If there were other worlds with skies (the Nether and End do not use the standard sky rendering methods), their files would be in ~/sky/world<world number>."
But I've tried creating a folder where the "0" in "world0" is instead the ID of the dimension in question, but it doesn't work. I know it's possible to do because I've seen videos where people are playing modded with custom skyboxes in the background in the twilight forest.
As far as I can tell, that's exactly what i'm doing. I have twilight forest set to the ID of 4, and made a folder sky/world4. But...no sky. I also tried it with a test dimension I made with Just Enough Dimensions, that didn't work either.

I'm using Optifine, which " adds support for HD textures and a lot of options for better looks and performance ", and commonly doubles the FPS, too.
