My FPS went down actually... Without the optifog+optimine_HD_D mod, I am getting 15-20 FPS with fast and Normal render distance.
With the mod, I get around 10 FPS, with the same settings. These FPS were after I let the map load for about 30 seconds.
Yeah rename it to something like "MC Tweaker" or "MC Deluxe" or "MC You can't live w/o it", so more players and modder get attention. So that the other mods get more and more compatible with it. It is a MUST HAVE, just essential for anyone. It really upgrades MC to a new level.
Nice idea. I have been considering it for some time.
It does much more than just fixing the fog issue, so the new name should be more descriptive.
Here is a list of possible names to start with:
- OptiFine - from OptiFog and Optimine. Many people know these two already, no need to be totally different.
- OptiPlus
- RenderPlus - a nice one
- RenderDeluxe - even better
- DeluxeCraft
- TurboCraft
- TweakStation
- Performance Pack
- The Performator - THE PERFORMATOR! :wink.gif:
Feel free to suggest anything else or vote for one of these.
I'm having some heavy performance problems with the MT v2 D:
I have used all the others and they have been incredibly fast!
But MT v2 es very slow, and when i disable a core It actually runs smoother ( not smooth, smoother ).
Is their some known bug with MT v2? All the other versions have been great!
The D_MT2 should perform like the previous experimental multithreaded versions.
It only has more finely tuned load distribution between the cores and more bugfixes.
Can you PM me debug screenshots of D_MT2 and the last good performing version?
Which was the last good performing version for you, the B_MT_8?

I've decided to do some benchmarks using this mod. Firstly, I performed my tests in accordance to this thread on Reddit.
First of all, Here are my specs:
Windows 7 64-bit Professional edition SP1
Intel i5 2500K @ 3.30GHz
4.00 GB DDR3 RAM @ 665MHz
HIS Radeon HD 6870
1TB Samsung F3 HDD
Here are my benchmarks:
For vanilla, I used these settings:
Graphics: Fancy
Render Distance: Far
Smooth Lighting: ON
Performance: Max FPS
3D Alaglyph: OFF
View Bobbing: OFF
GUI Scale: Auto
Advanced OpenGL: ON
And here is my result:
~130 FPS
I did two benchmarks on two versions of this mod:
OptiFog + Optimine 1.7.3_HD_D
and
OptiFog + Optimine 1.7.3_HD_D_MT2
For both versions, these were my settings:
Graphics: Fancy
Render Distance: Far
Smooth Lighting: 100%
Performance: Max FPS
3D Alaglyph: OFF
View Bobbing: OFF
GUI Scale: Auto
Advanced OpenGL: Fancy
Fod: Fast
Fog Start: 0.8
Mipmap Level: 0
Mipmap Type: Nearest
Load Far: OFF
Preload Chunks: OFF
Smooth FPS: OFF
Brightness: OFF

Good work OP, and I hope this helped!
Thanks for the feeback.
The D_MT2 reaches a litle bit less FPS, but on the Intel i5 it should eliminate the chunk load lag.
I am the only one with this bug: When I start the game, login, it just blackscreens. It is due to this mod, and I know it as this did not happen previously.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
"It's not nice to hate anybody, unless the person you hate is a complete idiot."
It looks like it can be a driver bug.
Did it fix itself after a restart? Is the problem reproducible?
Well, I can reproduce it, its not a driver issue I know that for sure, and yes, it fixed after the game restart so no big deal. Still love the mod, however first time this has happened, not sure why all of a sudden.
It does much more than just fixing the fog issue, so the new name should be more descriptive.

My vote is for TurboCraft. Reminds me of those old turbo buttons on computers.
Heh, any chance you want to take over Convenient Inventory while I'm here?

Alright, I'll try playing around for about 30 minutes on each and get back to you.

You can also try "Advanced OpenGL: Fast". It should add some more FPS and the visual difference is minimal.
Also,
OptiFine
Maybe Notch will relase the modding API (the Minecraft source code in fact) with 1.8 and all will be OK.
I'd vote for optiplus...
Oh there is very definitely an increase in performance when using MT.
When walking around and generating new chunks when using the non-MT version, I would usually get between about 80-120 FPS.
When doing the same tasks on the MT version, I was getting 130-180 FPS, sometimes going beyond 200.
Also, here is my CPU usage.
Normal: (Drops down because I had just closed the game.)
MT:
I only played for a little bit so I'll play more with MT and see if I run into crashes or other stability issues.
