This may be a very dumb question. But when I try and extract this newest OptiFine, with MC 1.11.2 installed, the extractor says to first run version 1.11.2 once, manually. What, specifically, does this mean? I've run MineCraft 1.11.2 many times using the native launcher. Maybe I need to point the launcher at a different directory?
Is there a way to define which blocks/items are light emitting for the dynamic lights portion of this mod? Certain items added by other mods give off light when placed, but not in the hand as vanilla items do. Thanks for any help you may provide.

can someone please help me, when i download optifine or forge for mac 1.7.10, instead of it coming up on the home page saying install client it comes up as a zip file and when i double click it, it doesnt install at all and it turns into a blue folder, im confused can someone help me ?

I'm currently playing the FTB GT New Horizon modpack (1.7.10) and installed myself Optifine 1.7.10 HD_U_D6. (Which is the newest 1.7.10 version for me that works with the modpack (somethingsomething fastcraft fails otherwise)).
Don't use fastcraft. Or at the very least, use the latest version of it.
Running from :
i7 2720QM @3.3 GHz
8 GB of RAM
Nvidia NVS 4200m (OC 930 Core Clock, 980 Memory Clock)
From 40-50 (No OC, No Optifine)
To 45-50 (OC, No Optifine)
To an amazing 120-140 (OC + Optifine)

Are you installing OptiFine to C:\Users\[USER]\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft ? (Replace "[USER]" with your username)
Just updated from 1010.2 HD U7 to U8. The phantom-block (or block mirage, if you prefer) bug previously reported in U7 is still present in U8.
I dont really know why but when i use optifine i get 60fps and lower, if i were to use vanilla that gives me 100 to 150 fps. Is there a fix to this?
did you try turning off terrain animated?

On my 1.7.10 Cauldron server I can install Optifine as a serverside mod without the server crashing. Is there any reason I would want to do this?
I'm Cool. Your argument is invalid.
Primalcore. It adds unlit and lit torches. When lit and held in hand they don't emit dynamic light but do when placed.
Also, flint appears to cast dynamic lights in 1.11.2 HD U C1.

we have to figure it out its driving me crazy
Don't use fastcraft. Or at the very least, use the latest version of it.
This mod is a must when modding. Too bad it doesn't work with every mod.
It's also a must for vanilla - I hate rain. Keep up the excellent work!
For vanilla use
/gamerule doWeatherCycle false
