You should make a Mod that just has all the UI buttons of Optifine for all the new versions of Minecraft but they do nothing, so when people nag you you just send them the dummy version! lol

Stop giving me ideas or I will have to implement them all :-)
Btw. making a dummy UI compatible with latest MC version is almost as complex as an Optifine preview with basic functionality.

Heh, I know nothing of modding, clearly. lol
I've always wondered what the main issue with porting it to a newer version was, guess I know part of it now. :3
From what I know the 1.8 update was brutal, It's clear some major changes were made because most mods haven't updated still, lol.
That and the fact that I got a 300% performance boost with it, so some core changes were clearly made.
I'd love to see if people could start making mods, Shaders and porting Optifine to the Windows 10 edition though, from what I hear it runs a lot faster, it's just so different in code that it'd be less of "porting" the mods and more of reconstructing them from the group up to look the same.
JAVA and C++ are pretty different.
I wonder though, would people have more power with mods and such? Shaders also might be a bit less laggy, but I don't know anything on how they work, so I dunno. lolz
Mods for Windows 10 Edition would have to be completely reconstructed, yes. The modding community could create many more intensive mods on Win10 edition, however, as it is significantly lighter. The only issue with that is that C++ programs are very different and in some cases, much harder to mod.
I am so excited for the 1.11 version! It's kind of funny that my 1.11 without optifine ran as smooth as 1.8 with optifine! Wonder how fast 1.11 will be with optifine for me? XD
I know you're working very hard and taking your project in a great many directions, but I'm curious if you've placed setting the render distance beyond 32 on indefinite hold. I'm just asking so I can quit wondering if so.
Even a distance of just 48 would be wonderful. I understand the performance increase required, but I have a lower mid-range modern computer (i5-6500, GTX 970, 16GB RAM) that can handle it just fine in vanilla (no Optifine) Minecraft. No UI needed; I set the render distance in the config file already, so doing the same with Optifine would not bother me one bit.
Thanks again for all your hard work!

My short story-like journals; quick-and-easy reads:
Not sure if this is a bug or not but when I use clear glass resource packs with OF they are not being rendered, but when OF is not being used they run just fine. And the clear glass pack worked in 1.10 with OF so I am guessing there is a tweak that is needed. Left w/o OF right w/ OF (picture is there but not showing up for some reason)
I downloaded the Ultra version for 1.10.2, and installed it on a clean version of Minecraft with no other mods. I also downloaded the Improved Default texture pack, as well as a shader, wanting to see how they'd look together and whether my computer could run it. (It's a pretty good computer, but the last time I played Minecraft was back on 1.5 or so.)
I can't get the normal map or specular map feature to work, and I know that the Improved Default texture pack uses both features, which I double-checked and I have them downloaded properly. In the shader menu, both features are set to ON, and I turned off Fast Render when I got the message box saying that it wasn't compatible with shaders. The shader looks great, and I'm getting no issues performance-wise. Does anybody know how I can get these to work?

The resource pack has connected glass textures.
OptiFine shows the connected glass, without OptiFine the connected textures are not shown.
Except the pack also eliminates the streaks in the glass, but with Optifine it is ignoring this piece of the pack for some reason. However in in 1.10.2 with Optifine it works giving glass a clear AND connected look, not just connect. Glear glass should be in the base game but that is an issue that will sadly never be resolved looking at the current trend of updates.
sorry, meant to reply to the guy above me when i said that. i know you are working hard, no hurries!

Cool, thanks for the info I miss my dynamic lighting and better grass already

Very good!

Preview OptiFine A1 for 1.11 is out: download
- updated to 1.11
- most things work
- mostly compatible with Forge #2130 (shaders may have some problems)
Feel free to find all the bugs :-)

I think it's something to do with your custom sky resource pack, try disabling it.
Sure, it's a very small pack: http://ezerarch.com/temp/aeon_mars_patch_test.zip (temp link, going to be removed)

Which resource pack (link)?

The custom sun and moon are currently not implemented.
Added to TODO list.
