Will Optifine do anything to help minimize CPU overheating? As it stands, even vanilla Minecraft with vanilla textures and NOTHING else running makes my CPU overheat (even with extra fans) to the point that I have to shut down after 30-60 minutes of play to let my computer cool down. (It seems to overheat with flash or other media, but especially with java.)
Okay, so, I looked back a couple pages and didn't see this issue specifically addressed, so I hope this isn't a stupid mistake.
I installed the latest version of Forge (I didn't find any listed under the numbers #830 or #845) on a completely new install of Minecraft. It ran fine with just forge. But when I put the OptiFine jar into the mods folder and start Minecraft under the Forge profile, Minecraft fails to start. Java is still running in the Task Manager, and when I end the task, the Minecraft Launcher pops up again with the console up, saying how Minecraft failed to start. No crash logs are created.
Am I using the wrong version of Forge? Help is appreciated.
Jesus, ever since the 1.6 update, I've been having constant problems with OptiFine and Forge.

Apologies if you've already done this, but have you been to files.minecraftforge.net and downloaded the "installer" for 9.10.0.845?

Sounds like you either need a better CPU cooler, or need to strip down the one you have and clean it. I've never seen an overheated CPU on a machine that didn't have either a heatsink clogged with dust, or an inadequate cooler in the first place.

Check to see at what percentage all the cores are running at. Excessive heat is generated when they are being overworked.
I've noticed that playing FTB has all four of my cores running at 100% when only playing for an hour. It must be something in Java that's rexponsible as the newest game that I have at full settings doesn't even max out the cores.

Hmmm. . . I'm using the stock HSF that came with the CPU, but I never noticed heat issues until I started playing Minecraft (about a year ago now, I think). It may be merely coincidental, though, because this rig *is* getting a little old. . .
I was thinking I needed to upgrade my whole system, but now I'm kicking around the idea of getting a Cooler Master HSF (one that I was going to buy anyway for the upgrade) and see whether that fixes the issue by itself.

I still haven't figured out (or taken the time to figure out) how to make use of the second core (dual-core CPU), but I do notice that when the CPU is overheating, the app that's causing it (java, flash, etc.) is nearly maxing out the CPU. I was hoping that perhaps Optifine could alleviate that somewhat (at least for Minecraft, since that's definitely when it's the worst). Can Optifine do that?
After some fumbling around, I finally managed to get forge to load optifine. The problem is, now my world textures are messed up, and changing resource packs does nothing.

Set Chunk Loading to Multi-Core to use more then one CPU Core. However, it only is able to use 2, but system should be able to spread the work over all Cuda and CPU Cores. But, Cores will still be overworked, has something to do with the way MC/Optifine/Java are coded.

SP614x, I don't suppose it would be possible to release a 1.5 patch that deals with the 1024 file limit? There are a lot of people stuck on 1.5 due to FTB's slow update process.
I really want to use OptiFine for the added features, but I just can't. I go from 190-200 FPS before installing to a very unstable 50 after installing, that freezes every few seconds. It works perfectly on my craptop boosting it almost twice the FPS, however I just can't use it on my good computer.
i really want you to update to 1.6.4, i cant play minecraft at ALL untill i have optifine....my computer is a piece of crap, also i cant buy a new computer....i dont have the money i am only 13.....anyway hope to see a updated version! Bye.

Edited at 08:13 UTC to change "something" to 0.
EDIT: Does anyone know if this method will also work with forge #835? #835 is the version Aether II comes with, and I can't play it without OptiFine.
The opening post says only #830 and #845 will work, but you can try...

There, I fixed it for you and yes, it works. Overworks CPU if not properly cooled and using HD Textures but yes, still works.
