I'm using the Magic Launcher, and the newest Optifine ultra, along with a 32x32 texture pack.
When I try to load a world, Minecraft runs out of memory. Without Optifine, it loads fine.
I have no other mods running.
I have all settings as low as I can set them.
Alright, "crashing" with no errors. Whitescreen then issues a "stop" command in the logs. I'd provide a crash log, but it's non-existant. Nothing abnormal in the forge log either, no severe, no warnings, just a stop command. Using Forge #518, #524, #527 all fails when using the D3 version of Optifine. The symptoms of the crash point to some sort of memory leak though, i.e. terrible slow down before finally crashing. This only happens with Optifine installed. Tested without mods installed, just forge+optifine. Latest Java, 64 bit, etc. Really wish I could provide a crash log or something to point the direction for the issue, but whatever is going on is happening without throwing any errors out. (This is also happening for several others on my server, same forge build, same optifine version.)
So we definitely still don't have mobs. We are using Forge 524 and OptiFine Standard HD C3.... is there something I need to do to get mobs to spawn again?
Anybody else having crashing problems with Optifine Ultra C2 while running Mindcrack FTB? Everything else works wonderfully with the mod, just crashes my game out of nowhere a lot. Not a huge deal, but if anybody could give me any tips to avoid crashing, please tell me!
(To save any possible confusion, I'm running C2 because C3 and the previews have block update problems with Forge)
I know it's been requested several times, but could you please add Better Glass support to OptiFine? The new Better Glass is nothing like CTM. Instead, it offers variable transparency, making for much nicer windows and other glass objects. And knowing your track record, I expect your implementation would be far less laggy than the one in MCPatcher.
Okay so used the ML installation for Windows and it wouldn't work!
(yes I have a non-modded minecraft.jar)
Unless you define "wouldn't work", we cannot offer much help. How does it not work?
If the setup is confusing you, it's pretty simple. Drop the launcher into the folder with your Minecraft executable, run it, and click SETUP. If it doesn't see your Minecraft JAR, click the SELECT button on the top-right and locate it. It should be in %appdata%/.minecraft/bin for Windows users. No clue where to find it on a Mac.
I posted my own workaround to this bug a few pages back. At least I think its the same bug, you havent said anything about crashing when exiting the game. But I bet you have mipmaps enabled. Just open the thaumcraft zip and find the file burst.png and resize it to half.
Hmn... You are correct, sir. My game DOES crash when I exit, after it loses my textures. I also do have Mipmaps enabled (can't stand the static jarring all over the place). That's good to know, though. It seems there are two fixes for this now! Resize the burst.png, or join a server for a few seconds.
Ok, is there any fix, any fix at all, for the "dancing" iron chests problem? Going up to D3 has helped, made the problem occasional instead of all the damn time, but it still happens, and it is frakkin' distracting.
I follow the exact instructions and it does see my .jar file, but when I go to play MC the mod just isn't there
JAR mods (Forge, Rei's Minimap, etc.) have to be added from Magic Launcher's SETUP screen
Forge mods go in %appdata%/.minecraft/mods. This is identical to all Minecraft launchers and the vanilla game.
You must run Minecraft from Magic Launcher if you expect to see your mods.
If you did all three of these things, and your mod still isn't visible, you either failed to follow the mod's instructions, the mod is broken, or you have a conflict that only you can find. You've yet to provide any useful information.
Okay,I seem to have a problem with Optifine HD D3.
Whenever I'm like building,or eating,or moving,or standing STILL,I'm able to see through the ground.I have no idea why though. My client is moded. But the only mods I have is Minecraft forge 523,Optifine and finder compass.
I'm using Optifine for high framerate and to use the texture pack R3D craft 256x.I tried WITHOUT a modded jar but for some reason,I don't get the wierd glitching. Can someone help? These are the settings:
Graphics:Fancy Going Back to main settings: Fog start:0.8

using Hd_U_C3 (OptiFine HD C3 Ultra) uses up all my memory causing the game to crash. It uses up all 2g of my ram. and the crash only happens with optifine on. This happens when entering a single player world only.
So we definitely still don't have mobs. We are using Forge 524 and OptiFine Standard HD C3.... is there something I need to do to get mobs to spawn again?
Something is weird with the specific world.... I put in a blank world and everything works fine....mobs work fine... when I load my original world where the issue started, the problem exists..... is there something I can do to fix the current world?...really don't want to resort to starting a new world.
UPDATE: So it seems that it had to do with Mo Creatures.... We thought it wasn't because we removed it from the server... had to re-enable it for mobs to spawn.... Mo Creatures is cool, but not very stable....our clients crash to desktop without error-log.
Anyone who was getting invisible lava this fixed it for me! And I'm 99.9% sure it will fix it for anyone else with the same problem. I was using FTB Direwolf20's mod pack and I added OptiFine myself manually for the amazing-ness. Then, all my lava and water was flowing but I couldn't see it, causing a few deaths in SSP. This post fixed it for me, took me 45 seconds. Thank you a tonEdrosty.
Try re-placing the pipes, or using one of the wrenches on them to turn them if you can.
To find out your forge version, you should be able to go into the "Forge Mods" section while in the title screen for minecraft, and by going to Forge while in that Forge Mods section, you'll be able to see a version number, x.y.z xyz. The xyz should be in the 500s, most likely at 516. Run your game without optifine to find out obviously, and then if you update Forge to 518 which it probably isn't, you should be able to use Optifine properly.
Connected textures has to do with texture packs. The default texture pack doesn't really have them. Your best bet would be to get a texture pack if you want connected textures looking really good. I like the Sphax BDcraft texture pack with the IndustrialCraft and TwilightForest and IronChests extensions added onto it. Since it is an HD texture pack, getting it might slow down your computer. If you still want it, get the x64 version instead of x128. The game still looks amazing, and the x64 version is much better for your FPS.
Lava being invisible was a problem I had before I updated my Forge version. Update it to 518. Things that move in general, or change while being used, generally don't work with forge 516 and Optifine. You need to update your Forge using the directions below. I had the same problem, with Water, Minecarts, Boats, Thaumcraft, Lava, etc.
1. Download the Universal link, and while in your Launcher, go to your mod pack,
2. go to editing it, and then go in the Jar Mods tab.
3. Disable the minecraftforge that's there, and replace it by pressing "Add mod" and directing it to where you have the .zip file for the upgraded Forge.
I've been running Minecraft 1.4.5 up until just recently (yeah, I know, behind the times) and have been getting 130+/- fps. With the update to 1.4.7 and the most recent, non-preview release of Optifine (HD C3 Ultra) I'm getting substantially lower, more in the 40-60 range. With a few tweaks, I can get it to spike - temporarily - to 90 or 100 fps, but not consistently. Is there some trick that I missed or a something else I should be doing?
I'm using Forge #497, Opti HD C3 Ultra, Rei's Minimap, on a good gaming rig (high mid-range: AMD Phenom 2x4 955s, 8GB RAM, 2x ATI Radeon 5670s - a little out of date, for sure, but strong and stable).
What do I need to do to experience the high FPS I'd been getting in 1.4.5?

If it crashes because it says there's no more available memory or something of the sort, get a 64 bit version of Java from Java's website. The 32 bit version has a 1gb memory limit or something, and the 64 bit one doesn't. It can go up to I believe 8gb.
