i stumbled upon a rather strange issue last night. i hesitate to call it a bug because it could be isolated to my specific hardware configuration.
i'm running optifine hd b2 ultra. also using the latest magic launcher, and i have mc 1.4.7 installed, utilizing 64-bit java with half my system ram allocated (6GB). i'm playing vanilla singleplayer (no other mods installed) and using sphax purebdcraft 128x.
the issue is that if i crank the in-game slider for "Performance" all the way up to "Max FPS" i immediately get crazy bad coil whine. seriously, my case sounds like the squee'ing of that dude in deliverance. i can't quite tell if it's coming from my PSU or my video card. if i drop the slider down just one tick to 190fps, all is well.
i realize this isn't a big deal, as even 190 frames per second is totally useless in practical terms, but i figured i'd share anyway. anyone else experience this issue?

and my HD6930 squeals like a pig but on menu screens only ))))) ingame is fine though
I guess its because MAX FPS means max fps and in menu its like 10000+ ;D
btw how come you have 190 fps ? i get around 160 on vanilla and with BDcraft x128 and far rendering its only about 80

I am facing some crashing issues, which most probably caused by OptiFine ( At least they didn't happen after disabling OptiFine ).
When playing, some textures suddenly became missing when loading/rendering ( Like when I open inventory/chest, or turn cloud off then turn it back on ).

I don't know if you guys know this or not, but the items for leather armor always appear white. It doesn't matter if they're dyed, or which texture pack is used, they're always white. Only the ITEMS themselves have this bug, worn leather armor is colored properly. Also, the leather cap looks like it used to in pre-1.4 times, without the brown part on top.

Handheld dyed armor is fixed in B4.

Any fix for chunks that are forced to load with railcraft chunkloaders, I can't stand near my base all the chunks are errors unless I manually do a block update on each of them each time I come back from somewhere else, its such annoying, I'm not 100% sure its a railcraft chunkloader issue since a load of other chunks around my base have the same problem, once I remove Optifine, everything is smooth again but the FPS is lagging like crazy and most of my texture packs don't work unless Optifine is there. I've done the trick in my nvidia control panel but it doesn't do anything. Tried with all the latest versions of everything.
I have an issue that SEUS shaders will not work with either B3/B4 and wondered if there was a fix for this as they run fine on A2/A3 but the A versions of Optifine give me a graphical glitch on all the items as seen in the pic below. The new B versions have fixed the glitch but refuse to run with the shaders. I always use the Ultra versions.

And here it is. Industrial Craft 2, Forestry, Red Power 2, Railcraft, Factorization, Thermal Expansion and Gregtech. I have tested separately (meaning only Forge, Optifine and a specific mod from these) Industrial Craft 2, Forestry and Red Power 2 and all of them, even by themselves, had the same problem, so I doubt its a certain mod messing up the rest.
The problem does not appear this bold at a certain height or because of different lighting so I am guessing its not the y but the x,z coordinates. At some spots like that it can be seen easily and at others you have to move closer to see it. Its light a shadow effect that does not work with the addons of the sphanxBDCraft.
This picture is jsut to compare the stone I am holding and the stone that makes the wall and the torches there do not lighten the stone to match the fully bright color.
I am not sure if there is an option in optifine that changes the lighting so all will be the same brightness.

I believe this is caused by Sphax itself; Sphax uses biome-colored stone and custom lighting shades. These are not properly applied in your MCPatcher variant, making Optifine's inability to magically know how to propagate the effect onto unspecified textures and render methods seem like a bug to you.
It's not a bug, it's a feature! If those same functions were enabled in MCPatcher it would do the same thing. Welcome to the wonderful world of technical limitations!

A feature indeed and it creates a nice atmosphere and variation. But that is only for vanilla minecraft. As soon as mods are added to minecraft, the nice atmospheric features Optifine offers, makes the game look bad. Thus this should be considered a bug when someone wants to use Optifine with other mods and the awesome Texture Pack that Sphax offers and has addons for almost every big mod available out there.
Instead of trying to explain me that Optifine is better than MCPatcher, which I already mentioned before, a solution of how to turn that feature off, if possible, would be better. That way I will not have to choose between the features Optifine offers or the best, in my opinion, texture pack existing.

Tried nearly all version of Optifine I can think exist for 1.4.6/1.4.7 The weird trouble is if I launch a 1.4.5 instance in MultiMC with Optifine with all the same mods on a old backup of my server with the railcraft chunkloaders and nothing changed, it works flawlessly there without the slightest chunk errors.

This should be fixed in next version (B5).
