I have tried nearly everything I can think of. Changing every setting, starting from scratch, updating Java and graphics drivers... im at a loss.
I am using technic pack (tried several versions of this, as well as optifine). Updated LWJGL... Out of ideas.

Are you sure? I pretty much have everything maxed out performance-wise and I have Chunk Loading on Smooth. I don't have any issues other than the occasional FPS drop when loading too many new chunks while exploring.
Yes I'm sure. I have everything maxed as well and I don't have a performance hit when I change it to default chunk loading. I just like the way smooth looks better. This is clearly a bug, just wondering when the author is going to fix it.
