Remember, true multiplayer servers still have to deal with many players, and the single player "fake" server basically lets the two halves of the program run on different cores at the same time. Now, what is your goal here?

Hello. I donated to Optifine and I completely forgot that I needed to type in my in-game-name as case-sensitive. Is there a way to have it changed from sonicamoto to SonicaMoto? I emailed back the email that was sent to tell me my cape was activated last night but I feel like it's too early to recieve a reponse. Was I correct to email that? Or is there a better way to contact someone about that? I know this is a really annoying noob mistake so I apologize. I should have been more careful. Am I just out of luck?
Issue. using magicloader 1.0, the latest optifine download directly from the links provided in this thread, and minecraft 1.4.6. Whenever I try to create or log into a pre-existing world, I get the message "downloading terrain" and it just stays there. I tried keeping the thing on over night to see if that would do anything, and it didn't. I'm running Windows 8, using an AMD FX-8150 processor clocked at 3.6 ghz if I remember correctly (it might be slightly higher), an nvdia gtx 580 with 3 gb dedicated vram, and 16 gigs of RAM. I pretty much have the settings list for optifine maxed out because I should be able to max it out without blinking. Anyone know what's going on and how to fix it? I'll admit I didn't look through all 1344 pages, but I did look through a bit of backlog (about 10 pages worth) and I didn't see mention of this particular issue.

as far as i know the server and the client share a lot of code thats why the mods are now universal insted of client/server

it won't work i'm using Optifine HD A2 Ultra for Minecraft 1.4.6 and when i try to load a world, it says: " Minecraft has stopped running because it encountered a problem; Rendering entity in world"
You can't install MCPatcher with Optifine. It will crash your game. Re-install it without any of MCPatcher's classes. Optifine has all of MCPatcher's features.

The costum sky features is missing and im wondering when this will be added because thats really a reason to use mcpatcher instead of optifien
or does any one know a stand alone costum sky mod that you can install with optifien?

Mojang wanted only some basic FPS fixes to be integrated (think Light edition). No HD features, no Multi-Core, no Smooth Chunk Loading, no Mipmaps/AA/AF and no other nice features. This would effectively split the OptiFine development in two and I did not have any free time to do this. At this point the compensation thema came in, but Mojang were not really serious about it, so I just continued to develop OptiFine as a hobby.
