lol i love this mod, it ups framerates drastically on my computer, heres an insane idea that maybe you'd consider(i just randomly thought of it) http://www.jocl.org/ adding opencl to your mod, having parallel processing accross to the gpu would make it even more insane(proformance wise) lol i just wanted to give you maybe a future idea of something, idk. Maybe have chunk loading and other cpu intensive events run off on an opencl context, perhaps explosion event calculations(keep in mind i've never touched opencl, so i have no idea as to whats possible) i just wanted to give you this idea that i came up with randomly, to pehaps, further upgrade your mod,
cheers,
random person xD
Since you've made the Ultra version of OptiFine, that combines the features included in all the other versions, are you planning to continue the other versions along with the Ultra version or discontinue them, since they are now pretty much pointless..
There is a weird bug with Sphax Bdcraft texture pack. When I place the birch planks the sides take the texture of the unused texture spot in the terrain thingy. Its pretty annoying because it makes up the side of my house. So hopefully this will be fixed soon.
I used to play on my laptop until something happened which made Minecraft run at <1 fps. Downloading Optifine allowed me to not only play Minecraft again, but I was getting around 16 fps; absolutely remarkable on my laptop. Now I have an actual PC and Minecraft usually runs at about 100 fps. Standing still and looking straight up I can get it to peak at over 300 fps, and that's before I re-installed Optifine.
As soon as I load it up, it immediately goes to a black screen when the Mojang logo should come up. I had this problem with the in progress update, but I assumed it was because things weren't finished. I have no mods, to my knowledge. A few texture packs downloaded, but I'm not using any.
Hey, sp614x! I know you've been bombarded with questions since the release of Optifine 1.3.1, but I have a question that I hope you could at least partially solve. I play Minecraft on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, and I have always used the Standard version of Optifine, because other versions caused glitchy texturing. Is there a way to make the current Ultra version act like the Standard one, or do I need to update my OpenGL drivers to fix the texturing bug? Thanks, and great work on the mod!

Try downloading the most recent LWJGL files (a Google search should take you to the site). Just replace the three .jar files in the .bin of your .minecraft folder, and replace all the files in the "natives" folder that correspond to your operating system. Doing this has worked for me everytime.
Could someone explain to me why my mobs keep losing limbs? Their textures turn invisible at random, which is very disconcerting (especially when the creeper stalking me is only a single leg wandering around by its lonesome).
I have no other mods installed, but I am using the MagicLauncher (if that makes any difference).

I am affected by the same bug (see my post above).

I appreciate the effort, but doing what you recommended hasn't changed anything.. Still a big ole black screen after I click login.
There seems to be a bug with Multi-Core chunk loading, maybe relating to multiplayer. Whenever I have it on, chunks keep becoming invisible, regaining their visibility if I break a block in said chunk. Changing chunk loading to Default fixes this problem.
I installed the new update and it crashed when I loaded my world.

Welp, that was entirely my bad. Reread the installation instructions, since I apparently thought since I'd done it before I could do it again. I wasn't deleting the META-INF folder. So, guys, remember to do that if you're having troubles, lol.
With 1.2.5 I forgot to check my FPS before/after Optifine, but for 1.3.1 I decided I would take a few minutes to find out.
I did 2 tests, one moving and one standing completely still. Moving consisted of moving in a circle and looking around.
In my laptop I use a NVIDIA NVS 4200M with 1gb dedicated GPU, with an Intel Core i7-2620M (2.7 GHz, up to 3.46 GHz with Turbo Boost) CPU and 8gb RAM. I tried running Minecraft with both graphics (integrated and NVIDIA), here are the results. Keep in mind that with Optifine installed I had every option set to "Fancy" and various options set to try and lower FPS(to see the lowest it could go, which also explains why my FPS actually got lowered). Everything was with the default texture pack, and on Normal render distance, in Creative mode(Flying).
Moving Integrated graphics
Before: 7-12
After:14-28 Nvidia Graphics
Before: 58-120ish(very jumpy, aka lag spikes)
After:75-100(Less jumpy, more static) Standing still

After:17 Nvidia Graphics
Before:55+ Surprisingly not over 100(ever)
After:60(at first) after 30~sec was 75+, eventually got to 80+
